Love the peas' real estate listings, and so excited that I can finally share one from my neck of the woods!! This is how the posh built their houses on the lake in the 1970s, I guess. Just wait until you get to the bedrooms What a time capsule - would make a great set for a movie that needed a 1970s era mansion! House on the lake

Wow! It looks so promising from the outside and there’s an amazing lake view from the huge windows. But those bedrooms though??? and the bathrooms??? The wallpaper, the plaid carpet in the basement? Did they paint that toilet mauve or can you buy them that colour? The price must be determined by the size and location, because the whole interior needs renovating.

Some things are meant to be. Time capsule is right, this is for someone who loves vintage. Yes, colored bathroom suites were the thing starting in the 50's. Growing up in Los Angeles, these are classic bathrooms of my childhood. And I love that plaid carpet in the billiard room.

Yeah, baby! Purple shag carpet!! Definitely a time warp, and it all looks like it's in great shape. Some amazing views, I'd love to see what the new owners do (or don't do) with it. TFS

Wow!!!! The purple shag would definitely be gone but I think I would keep one wall of the paper in that room Also the built in book shelves half way up the wall? The windows and the views are gorgeous.

The view is awesome. I would tolerate the weird colors for a while just for that view. But the tomato bedroom would be the first to be painted!
I kind of liked the plaid carpet but would find a way to tone down the rest of the room so you do not get eye strain. Some of those rooms made my eyes hurt.

What an interesting house! The mid-century modern look is not my style at all, but that house is so over-the-top with it I'd be tempted to leave it. It fits the architectural style of the house so perfectly.
I do love the ginormous windows and that lake view. But the sheer cliff with the chain link fence leaning out over it is a bit disconcerting.

I was loving it until I got to the kitchen etc. I think just for those views I'd buy it and keep some of it and change other parts. Definitely the kitchen and maybe tone down the bedrooms a bit and get new carpet. Shag carpeting skeeves me out. Gosh knows what's hidden in the depths of it.
ETA I'm torn on the plaid carpet in the pool table room. It's totally tacky and yet reminds me of my childhood. That may have to stay just for kicks!

Groovy is right! It reminds me of a house dh & I saw some time ago locally--same era, many of the same lines and features--a cross between Brady Brunch and the Jetsons. I kind of love it.....and at the same time would want to update, which would take away some of the 'charm' of the house as is.

i like it - great house. and while the commitment to the room colours is admirable, i would need to lose the carpets, wallpapered/painted ceilings and tone it down a bit. but i certainly wouldn't change it all.
seeing how close the house was to that drop off made me wonder how long that house will actually be there though. yikes!!

Fascinating! Lovely position...love most of the main living areas with all that open space and light! The bedrooms have a special appeal but I couldn’t cope with that kitchen!!

The plaid wallpaper on the ceiling - wow!! The views are gorgeous and I could probably be okay with the entry/great room with a couple small tweaks. But the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms, insane. Everything looks in great condition though.

Do you think the owners used to own a wallpaper store? Why so much reflective wallpaper? I kind of dig the plaid carpet-as OP said it reminds me of childhood. And the whiskey jug to the left of the pool table-we totally had that in our house growing up.

Wow, that main living area is beautiful and doesn't need much updating. All that foil wallpaper reminds me of the wallpaper we had in my childhood home. They liked color didn't they?

Did they paint that toilet mauve or can you buy them that colour? Yep you used to be able to buy toilets in many colors! When we first got married we bought a powder blue toilet and sink!! This house is not too far from me (about a half hour) and it is literally RIGHT on Lake Erie!!

Your comment made me curious so I peeked at local property records, and the owner was a very prominent attorney of Greek heritage in our area. And that just made me giggle because I thought of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and the color and flashiness makes a little more sense to me now ;-)

Everything looks in great condition though. LOL the plaid paper on the ceiling was so over the top. I think I’d go dizzy in such a confined space with all that plaid on every side. Oy. And Wow, that main living area is beautiful and doesn't need much updating. All that foil wallpaper reminds me of the wallpaper we had in my childhood home. They liked color didn't they? DH’s parents had the ugliest foil wallpaper in their kitchen in his childhood home even well into the 80’s when we started dating. It was yellow and white with huge daisies. I’m sure his mom must have picked it out, her style choices left much to be desired. When it came time to downsize and sell the house, the first thing the realtor said was, “That wallpaper HAS to go.” I was just glad I wasn’t the one who had to try to get that crap off the walls!

It came with the original tub, toilet, and sink in the bathroom in powder blue!

TBH I'd keep an accent wall or two with some of the funkier wallpapers. I think in small quantities they'd be cool. I actually like the kitchen. I would get rid of some of the yellow wallpaper, swap out the knobs on teh cabinetry and possibly replace the sink but that green is cool and unusual. Mind you, I would not ADD these looks to my current house, but if I bought that one, there are smaller modifications that could be made.

Once a certain amount of time has passed, untouched, original styles are treasured by certain people. I hope a vintage lover buys it and doesn't try to "remuddle" it with a farmhouse sink or something like that. As a retro lover, one of the reasons I was attracted to our 1950 house was the powder blue tile in one bathroom with the matching sink and toilet I wonder if anyone has notified Retro Renovation about this house?

There's so much fun to be had with that house - and I love the previously stated ideas to keep one wall or at least an accent of the previous wallpaper in each room.

I hate that small floor tile, but other than that I think it's mostly liveable. UNTIL I got to the master bedroom wallpaper!! --my eyes!!! The problem with a house that is SO specific is that you can't change just a couple things without it looking out of place- all the wallpaper, all the tile floor, etc. would have to go. And even then, the staircase, etc. is all very specifically 1970s. But the wall of windows? and the view!?! just dreamy!!

Oh man, I love it. I wouldn't want to live there but I'd love to stay there for a week or so. Do you think that the bedroom with the purple carpet is the master? I would have been so into that bedroom as a little girl in the 70's.

My in-laws are Greek and I'm in tears, laughing. What I'm a little surprised by is how neutral the main living spaces are compared to the color & pattern explosion in the bedrooms and bathrooms. I just read a great line in a book describing the current use of subway tiles "Today's beloved interior trend is tomorrow's avocado bathroom suite."

I actually love the reflective tree wallpaper that's behind the desk in the balcony area. I think it makes a cool accent wall.
The bedrooms are definitely WOW. Those are giant, oppressive boxes of color lol
Growing up, my brother had the exact same rainbow sheets that are on the pillow on the bed in photo 28.
