In the past, I've seen the stamp sets that have coordinating die plates, but I have a silhouette so I can't justify purchasing another pricey and large gadget to use the dies. So, can anyone point me to some stamps that have basic shapes and sizes, that can fit in the few circle punches I still have? I'd LOVE to get a label punch that had coordinating stamps. Thanks so much!

Just last night I was using some MME paper, and it had silver accents, silver bow ties on one paper I had, some silver pieces in the die cut pack, and the pack of enamel dots had a row of silver dots on it. I remember it was the Now and Then collection, but not positive in what group... Izzy, I think?

thanks Get out of TOWN those are way too cute!!!! I love every one of them! Did you use silhouette cuts, or dies, border punches? I honestly just looked over on my scrap desk at the layout I was working on this afternoon and thought that some of those stitched border-y pieces would have been PERFECT in place of the wimpy two scrap strips I put at the top of my layout - I really may pull it up and attempt a little sewn grouping like you made. TOO CUTE! Thank you for sharing!

oh my WORD!!!! I've had internet issues all stinkin' day!!! Sorry I've been MIA! I am loving the pages done so far, yall are so creative! I wouldn't have thought to use washi tape as some of the borders/strips on the day one sketch, that's really cool. So, I'm still working on today's challenge, I think I'm going to start getting up at like 5 in the morning to work on my scrapbook stuff, because something ALWAYS comes up during the day to pull me away from completing any of the challenges so far. I've started both, but haven't completed either. UGH. LocoCoco, I'm going to be right there with you, probably uploading 3-4 challenges at a time, if I ever get around to finishing the little devils. Crystal, the fire/ice challenge is so cool! I had no idea where you were going with it! I chose fire. NO idea what photos I'm going to use for that, though, so it may end up being a card, unless I can dig something up. I'm not great with using those colors, and actually don't have much red in my stash. I have lots of oranges/gold/yellows though....hmmmm..... I want to wimp out and switch my answer to ice, but that would be defeating the purpose of a challenge, so I'm gonna give this a go! Thank you for the prompt!

My day ONE. I didn't follow the sketch exactly but I loved the strips so I used washi and deco runners to get that effect. I also mimicked the sprinking a bit. I ended up with FIVE photos (overachiever? LOL) Overachiever is the exact word I was thinking when I just saw that you've already completed today's challenge, before noon, ya brat! THEN I actually READ your post and see the layout and you did it with five pictures....and I thought to myself, "kiss up".... but since you're the one challenging us, who are you kissing up to, is what I wanna know....I hope he's cute! LOL!!! I can't even start playing yet, but I had a couple minutes before my friend comes over so I popped in to see what's going on. I'm another one glad you'll be posting the challenges the night before, my day is filling up quickly and I haven't had time to get anything together for today's CAD....I need to quickly start planning my days better and getting organized, SHEESH!!! And I'm so excited about the journaling prompt!!! thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Dude, I'm already excited about the pre-challenge, LOL! I have a box of pictures that will fit this description - I can't wait to see what we do with them! I just said goodbye to the last guests from our family get together today, so I'll actually choose which photos I want to play with and journal about in the morning. And YAY for double pages in Monday's challenge! I mainly do double pages because I take so many pictures, lol. I'll try to get with the times and figure out how and where to post my finished layout. Crystal, you may have said so in an earlier post and missed it, but can you recommend a place to upload my layouts so share them?

Hi Ladies! After posting this question, I got so busy with other stuff I forgot to come back, I'm so sorry! As it turned out, my son's girlfriend found a recipe that actually sounds a lot like what most of you suggested - crab, parmesean, etc. I'm not a big crab fan either ( my friend says I have the palate of a four year old, LOL!) but we went with it and they were a hit! We had a bit of the stuffing mixture left over, so we made a couple of crab cakes to use it up. I tried a bite and it was pretty tasty. I felt very grown up, enjoying a bite of crabcake. And worrywart, that sauce you described sounded delicious! I wonder what else that might work with, have you tried using it on other dishes?

Yay! Pretty sure I will be able to participate for most challenges. Can I request some challenges that are prompts, like a journaling theme, or type of photo...not explaining it right, but NOT technique or supply based, may be a better way to say it...I'm needing some help in getting out of my rut of just reporting what happened in that photo, ya know?
Thank you so much for all the work you put into these challenges! !

My son has requested stuffed mushrooms for part of his birthday dinner. ( I know, the kid's weird. ) I've looked around allrecipes.com and pinterest, but the problem is, I don't like mushrooms, so I don't know if a recipe sounds appetizing or not! What do YOU like mushrooms stuffed with - cream cheese, other cheese, bacon, meat, what? It all just sounds blech to me, lol.
So, what's your favorite stuffed mushroom recipe?

How disappointing! Hope you get some better weather soon! I'm kind of in a grouchy mood because of the weather, myself, but it's mainly because our stupid A/C isn't working and it's making me hot and pissy. I've been home all day waiting for the repairman to show up - the time frame given to us will be up in 15 minutes. GRRRRR!!!! I can't EVEN think about cooking dinner - making the house even hotter than it already is. Oh, and I have cramps. Sounds like a PERFECT night to eat out. with wine.

Have you tried wiping everything down with dryer sheets? It is supposed to keep the dust from sticking??? Also, I have only noticed the cobwebs on the legs of my furniture and kick plate thingy this year! What's the deal? ETA: I just read that peppermint oil deters spiders. I'm going to try it. Hopefully peppermint oil won't attract something else! I'll try this, thanks for the idea!

You must be unfamiliar with my motto: A house is not a home unless you can write the word *love* in the dust. I must have the homiest home that's been called a home, sister! LOL!!! GAH it's so embarrassing though, since that stupid bookshelf is right as you walk in the living room. No other options for furniture placement, unfortunately. I haven't heard of the peppermint oil...I did hear that lemon oil works, I guess that's why so many cleaning products have lemon oil/scent? I did clean/dust the everliving crap out of my kitchen table and chairs before we had my son's grad party with lemon endust or something, hoping there was enough lemon OIL not just scent to keep the little devils away for awhile. Not sure if I'd say it really worked....

UGH!!! We have a dark stained wooden bookshelf thing in our living room, near the front door. Our kitchen table is stained wood, and the dining chairs are distressed black. Between the two shedding yellow labs and my son going back and forth through the garage/kitchen door a gazillion times a day, I am so OVER this dark wood furniture. I've thought about building some kind of doors with glass for the bookshelf...it's pretty wide, and I don't' use it for books, it has framed family photos and a couple of vintage cameras on it.
I've thought about painting our kitchen table and chairs some version of white and distress them, but our kitchen cabinets are white, and not distressed...would that look weird? The way our kitchen is arranged, you pretty much walk around the table to go from the garage door to the back door leading to the patio. Can I just add in here WTH is the deal with cobwebs on table and chair legs, as well?!? Is it because of its location between the two doors? BLECH! I also get them constantly under...I guess you call it the kickplate? no...I don't know what it's called, but it's where your toes go when you are right up against the counter....that indention at the bottom of the cabinets.
I just can't stand how I can literally BE DUSTING and I watch more dust settle before I'm done. I sweep, mop, vacuum almost every day! (Ok I don't MOP almost every day. You have me there.) As far as the shelves, I LOVE my family photos, I have some really special ones, it's not like I have 953 little framed pictures crammed in, some shelves just have one or two larger frames on them. BUT I HATE DUSTING THEM!!!!!!
Any tips, suggestions, advice on painting everything dust color? Paint sample and names will be helpful.

I don't like pie. I don't like cookies. I tolerate ice cream. I love cake. I am a cake addict. Cake is my thing. I could buy a whole cheesecake at our local grocery store and eat it all. It is a very good cake though and it's not that big. I love cake. Sometimes on Friday night when I have worked out during the day I go to the store and get a piece of cake. I love cake. Cake... This sounds like a poem....a beautiful poem....

good for you for knowing your limits on what you can properly attend to during this time - I am horrible at that and end up either making a huge mess of it, or stretch myself so thin to the point of tears and exhaustion and not have the energy or mental resources to invest in what's really important.
I am so sorry you and your family are going through this, it's never easy, no matter the circumstances. You don't need to worry about what you will say. Just love your uncle, hold his hand. If words are needed, they'll come to you.
Praying for your strength during this time, and that you and your family will be able to soak in these moments and appreciate them for what they are.

I haven't done it yet, but I have come up with a couple of possibilities on HOW I want to do it that I can share. As far as organizing the materials, I have a list of recipes I want to include, and I'm typing them all out in word. I want to add family photos, of grandmothers, aunts, uncles, kids, cooking in the kitchen, holiday or not, so I'm collecting those as well. I plan on asking my siblings for any family stories or memories revolving around a meal, recipe, or cooking in general to add here and there. My mom was an awesome cook and had some hilarious idiosyncrasies involving cooking, so I want to include those. As far as the album itself, I haven't decided which direction to go, but here are my options... The first idea is the traditional scrapbook, but maybe 8x8 size. print multiples of the photos, recipes, etc and make one as a prototype, then make the other 3 assembly line style, to hopefully minimize time, although I know this is the most time consuming option anyway. Second idea is a photo book type thing from an online place, but I've never done one of them and don't know how much text you can insert, so not sure if this is a realistic option. Third idea is digital scrapbook, which isn't my thing. I have zero experience with them, almost zero patience in learning new stuff, unfortunately, and while it will be cheaper (probably?) and much less time consuming, since I make it once and then have it printed as many times as needed, I just LIKE the textures of different papers and embellishments ( although this project wouldn't be heavily embellished) and real handwritten notes here and there, ya know? As far as the holiday theme and looking for ideas, maybe take a look at some December daily pages on the pinterest boards and elsewhere - there are several out there that include recipes so that could maybe give you some jumping off points.

Oh my word, been there, done that, a few times! We seem to go through seasons where we hang out a lot together, and then times where either everyone's kinda busy with their own thing, or we are just having a rough patch with getting along. My kids that live at home still are 18 and 14, so they aren't young tikes anymore, no more time outs or hugging it out, ha! I have learned with my kids, not to talk about it or make an announcement that we're going to start spending more time together - they are so weird. If I make it a "thing" they will buck up about it, but if I just plan something, they happily go along with it. Realizing that has made all the difference in the world. If I whine to my 18DS about not hugging me or cuddling, he rolls his eyes and avoids me like the plague, but just last night, he was flopped on the couch watching tv and I didn't say anything but made him move his feet, and sat with him, laying his feet back on me. without a word, he handed me a pillow, and re arranged the blanket. We hung out like that for about an hour and a half. Maybe come up with a few ideas that you think will appeal to the majority...load the dogs up to take to the park or beach, etc. Then say, on Wednesday, bring up the weekend and give them the choice of a couple of the things you came up with. They get to choose the activity, and you get to spend time as a family without that part being the focus of the planning, for them at least. Something we've done several times that has been a real blast, and actually we are wanting to do it again pretty soon, is have a cooking night. I know that sounds weird, but for instance, the last time we did it, it was DH and me, and our 18DS and his girlfriend. We had a pretzel throwdown! We choose four different pretzel recipes, and DH and DS chose two, and (what's the shorthand version of "son's girlfriend" ??) son's girlfriend and I had the other two. We had a flipping BLAST making the pretzels and seeing which recipe came out best. It helps that we all enjoy cooking (to different degrees, but it's SOMETHING, ya know?) We've done it with pancake recipes and other stuff, and DSGF ( I came up with that on my own - Dear Son's GirlFriend, hee!) loves French toast, so that will probably be our next throwdown night. I know what you mean though, it breaks my heart that we as moms do things for the family because it's important to THEM, but oftentimes they don't reciprocate and do things simply because it's important to US. It's a lesson we try to teach them, to be compassionate for other's needs, but for some reason it doesn't get associated with parents.

I did that very thing this week. I did a page that goes into a vacation album, and when I slipped it in it's new home, I ended up tweaking the facing page a bit to make it coordinate better with the new one. I think I just switched out one of my layering papers with a scrap from the new page, so it would kind of mesh a bit more to my liking. I had completed the older page months ago.

I just did another graduation page of my dd. At this rate, I'll finish scrapbooking her grad in time for her wedding. LOL!
She Believed
How is everyone else with grad photos to scrap coming along? love this layout! How am I doing with my grad photos? I'm still too flipping emotional to do them! We barely had time to breathe from the out of town company for his grad party, which left three days before we left for vacation. 3 days home from vacation, we got the call that he had been accepted into the summer program at the university he wants to study at, congratulations, and by the way, class begins on MONDAY! we had four business days to get three months' worth of paperwork and dorm shopping done. We are incredibly proud of him and excited for him, but holy cow....

The issue I have with this is the possible slippery slope that could result. Notice I said possible. If something like this was made legal what rules would be put into place to make sure it wasn't used to deny someone treatment or the right to live. As someone who is disabled I don't want someone to decide my life is worthless and not worth saving just because of my disability. There are people who believe those who are sick or born disabled shouldn't live because in their minds the person will have a miserable or painful life or the cost of health care. I see it as the opposite of Roxley's post where people don't want treatment but are not taken seriously and kind of "forced" into it. This brings a thought to my mind - I feel like we've been on that slippery slope for a long time, in the medical world. When my mom was really ill at the end of a long, manageable in the beginning illness, my siblings and I argued and argued about this point - when is enough, enough? Just because there are machines that can keep her breathing, or her blood filtered ( dialysis) does that mean we NEED to use that option? I'm not talking about an otherwise healthy person neededing dialysis, the last weeks of my mom's life had NO meaning - constant pain, in and out of delirium, no physical strength whatsoever, no dignity whatsoever. Keeping her on dialysis kept her heart beating, but it did not keep her ALIVE, ya know? I think the mentality in the US anyway, is KEEP THEM ALIVE AT ALL COSTS. I think that mentality is pushed by money and other motives not beneficial to the individual patient. All the wonderful advances in medicine are truly lifesaving, and I'm not dogging those advancements one bit. But, the snag is, in general, when the procedure/therapy/medication ISN'T helping an otherwise sound, healthy individual continue what THEY feel is a meaningful quality of life, shouldn't that decision be left in the hands of that individual? One of the weirdest things I learned throughout my mom's illness and suffering, is that death isn't the worst thing that can happen to a person. Seeing the ridiculous suffering she endured, for what? There was no "recovery" from her organs shutting down. It came to the point that it felt like all the medications and machines weren't keeping her LIFE, it was keeping her from peace that was coming either way, today or tomorrow, ya know? There comes a point when you know you're going to die. Stage 4 cancer, for instance. My father was diagnosed in April of last year at the age of 83. Healthy as a horse otherwise. Mowed acres of his land on a tractor, even after the diagnosis. He made the decision that he wasn't going to pursue aggressive treatment. He said he had lived 83 years in health, and had lived to see each of his children marry and become healthy and happy with families of their own, and that's all he hoped for from his life. And I have to tell you at the time, it was brutal to hear. But, what a precious gift he gave his family - QUALITY time with him, KNOWING the clock was ticking. Nothing was left unsaid. Precious memories and stories were shared. It was all too soon, but 5 months later, he was gone. No chemo, no illness or side effects to suffer from or us having to see him suffer. He didn't get to choose what caused his death, but he chose how he died. And I didn't know it at the time he told us about his decision, but it was a sacred gift for us to be able to enjoy those last months with him and HE enjoyed his last months. Not like my mom.

. I believe God has a purpose for us, even if we don't see it or like it. So, what is my 91 year old MIL's purpose? To annoy me and my DH(her son) and my son??? Her DH died over 22 years ago. She's got Alzheimers. She does nothing but sit in a chair or lie on the couch all day, stare out the window and sleep. She drives us nuts with the non-stop asking of whether or not the dog was fed. It's the SAME THING EVERY DAY! And I only wish I was kidding. She doesn't want to go anywhere. Most of the time, she can't tell you what day it is. Physically she can move, walk, feed herself and wipe her own butt. Her sons aren't ready to place her in a nursing home and her daughter has little to do with her. She has not ever said she's ready to die....with MY luck though, she'll be the one that will live to be 110 I wanted to say that I am so sorry you are going through this - I've been through some version of it, and it's ugly - stress, guilt, anger, sadness, all of it. it just sucks. I started to reply with the first thing that came to my mind when I read your post, but I by no means am implying YOU need to learn something from this situation, so I hope to present it and you take it in the innocent way it's intended....which was that maybe the reason she's still here isn't for her, it's for someone else's benefit - maybe to teach compassion, or patience, or....that something needs to be done about the greater picture, as stated in the OP. Maybe a nurse, or other caretaker will be touched by this situation and see the light to know that something needs to be done for other patients in similar circumstances and this is the catalyst to get that ball rolling...we don't know who we touch or influence in our lives, or what aspect of it may do the influencing, but I feel that every situation/experience has something to be gleaned from it, something has to be awakened in us, for that situation to have not been in vain. Sometimes we get lucky and can see immediately the reasons why, sometimes we never do. Sometimes it's not about us at all, we just happen to be the witness, bystander, or whatever. I know it's no comfort or consolation to hear that, I just wanted to let you know I feel for you.

Jenny, ME TOO! I think my favorite color is blueish aqua, like a gorgeous beach blue, so I get my draw to the turquoise and aquas. I wouldn't call pink my favorite, I don't decorate with it, but I do wear it, and bright coral, and have it healthily represented in my scrapbooks.
