To me, florals in general aren’t a fad. Llamas, sloths, typewriters, roller skates….those are more trendy or faddish in my opinion. Most florals are like a basic, or staple in my stash. Generic, I think is the word I’m looking for! Like striped paper, enamel dots or tags.

Does anyone else sometimes clean your scrapspace instead of your actual house? Me. That would be me. guilty <raising my hand> Also, once I’ve sufficiently created the perfect tornado scene, jump on here to get, you know, ideas and support for the..uh, creation I created….

I’d be embarrassed to find out, but man….would I adore an uninterrupted weekend to see how much damage I could do!
Without buying anything but adhesive and albums/page protectors….i bet I could make 100 pages before noticing any shrinkage in my paper hoard. Embellishments and Thickers(including “thicker-ish”) probably 50.

My Joann store has had the same designer lines for about a year now. Has anyone heard of there will be new collections offered, or which ones?

I SUCK at this. My arms are scratched and my back is tired, and my tree looks like an ornament factory THREW UP.
I’ve loved my tree in the past, but I just can’t get it together this year. I have to freaking move on and finish the house so I can put the boxes away. Uggghhhh why did I wait so long! I wish I had time to take it all down and start over. I don’t know what it needs. I love their ribbon. I love the ornaments. I can’t make it look cohesive.
Pity party over, back to work. I’m calling it in 1 hour, then I’m moving on to the mantle.
Merry Christmas!!😝🎄

I love them….i send them to my adult kids sometimes, just to be silly and let them know they're on my mind. So it isn’t a stretch for some scrapbook pages to have “play on words” type titles, since they are so much a part of my personality and sense of everyday humor!

Freaking flamingoes!!
We live near a beach so I have plenty of shore/tropical/beachy photos, but do I really need every layout to include flamingoes!?
Palm trees as well, but those make more sense in my brain😂

justcindy did you put that page together? Would love to see it. I did, and I really like it! Haven’t added journaling yet. Let me see if I can figure out how to post a photo!

Can you cut a phrase you like for the title out of the background, then back it with a layer or two and glue it over the top? Or use a large sheet of vellum under the other layers, to mute the look of text in the background? Maybe leave an inch wide border around the edges? Put your title on the vellum? Love love love the vellum idea, mixed with the highlighted phrase! Perfect! You are so creative, thank you!

I want to use a paper from Jen Hadfield’s “Flower Child” line, with all the words and phrases, as a background for my page. I love these types of patterns, but struggle with coming up with a title that seems to compete with the pattern. Whether it’s the words themselves, or just adding more letters to a paper that’s filled with them.
How do yall use this type of pattern, and deal with a title, especially as the background sheet?

Yall, I have searched Pinterest and google for ideas til my eyes are crossed and have come up with a big fat goose egg! My sister and her 2 adult daughters and I are going on a one day road trip to an antique-junk-trade days event. I want to come up with some kind of silly/fun game or challenge for while we are there, but my imagination and google are letting me down! Something along the lines of buying something for $5 that…… ?? I want us to draw names so we have a person in our group to shop specifically for, but what can the hook be to make it funny? Edit to add: I got the idea last night when I saw a group of women about to leave for a trip together. They all bought hilarious t shirts and whichever one they randomly ended up with, they had to wear it on the airplane the next day!

Given Colorplay is reportedly Photoplay's in-house brand, I would prefer the company use the same finish or differentiate between their two brands with weights/textures like Echo Park (i.e. Echo Park paper is 65 lb/smooth, while Carta Bella, a brand under the Echo Park umbrella, is 80 lb/linen). I’m so glad to read this…I’ve noticed some of what I thought were Photoplay lines, having the glossy-ish finish. I was really bummed, thinking Photoplay was changing over. I really dislike working with the slick papers.

There's a video on Youtube somewhere called "10 things you didn't know about your Silhouette" or something like that, where there was a checkbox you could check that would make the machine cut right to the edge of the 12 by 12 grid. I can't remember what menu you had to go into the find that option... My problem is, if I close the software, when I open it again it has reverted back to a Portrait sized mat (on my screen) and the gridlines turn off. UGH! Mine is doing that as well! I've restarted my computer, I've restarted the Silhouette, this is just weird. I keep thinking it's because I'm rusty and am forgetting something obvious. But there's other weird stuff as well.

I haven’t used my silhouette in several months, but set it up yesterday and updated the software to the most current edition.
I’m running into quite a few issues that I’ve never had before.
The biggest pain is the fact that it will not cut the full 12.” I’m trying to cut some borders for sb pages and the largest I can make them without going outside the cut line is about 11.8”. I’ve tried ignoring the cut line and sending it to cut anyway, because the paper it there, in all it’s 12x12 glory, but it will still stop at the imaginary line!
I’ve checked the page set up settings, it’s all set to Cameo 12 x 12 mat as well as paper.
What am I missing?

Thank you all ( get real, I’m from Texas!)
Thanks, Y’all, for all the commiseration! I kept the background page but started over with the photo and new supplies, and ironically, used a Shimelle sketch! 😂 I also used another piece of advice given here and once I had the bare bones of it, put the sketch out of site and made it my own.
Aaaand I now love it!
I didn’t follow the advice of journaling first this time, but I’m definitely going to use that strategy soon.
I might even try to learn how to post a photo to show y’all how it ended up! Not perfect, but was able to use all the elements that go with the story, and it’s DONE!

I feel ya, my family could make bank when I die if they sell my stash In all seriousness, we expected to have children and to keep traveling as much as we used to and I purchased based on those assumptions. After I finish scrapping our childhoods I think I am going to pack up all of the appropriate paper and donate it it to a new mom or new to scrapping mom. Also, many hobbies are simply collecting things. I think there is value in the time you spent selecting the items and finding a home for them to live in, even thumbing through your stash and just enjoying seeing it. Maybe reframe how to look at it and consider the shopping/organizing as just another aspect of the hobby. Have you considered inviting someone over and having them just bring photos, you could supply the rest? Doesn’t even need to be a scrappy friend. Or making cards out of product you likely won’t use and donating them? It could be an opportunity to try new techniques. There are also a lot of threads on organizing that might help you take control of your stash. Resurrect them and we’ll give you lots of ideas and encouragement! Thank you for the encouragement and great ideas! I’m definitely going to have a “card night” and invite dd, ddils and a couple friends over to have at a couple collections that I now think “what was I even on about!?” in buying them!

…one would think I have 6 kids, 12 grand babies and continuously go on vacation and celebrate Christmas. Trying to find a piece of pink paper that’ll go with a page, and turned around to have a hard look at the state of my craft room. I was frustrated with how difficult it is to reach what I need. I’m actually kinda sad that I won’t use all of the pretty stuff I’ve collected over the 27 years that I’ve scrapped. this is me exactly. i think collecting was the primary hobby when i think of the amount of stuff i have. and people think i must have a million personal projects all over the house. i don't. you would never know i was a paper crafter unless you opened the door to my craft room. then it's like the closet that explodes when you touch the handle. This is so me that it’s scary🤣

I’m actually kinda sad that I won’t use all of the pretty stuff I’ve collected over the 27 years that I’ve scrapped. That’s the thing - as much as some people can handle and enjoy more stuff and feel like there’s never too much, if you personally find it frustrating to not find what you want easily, you might have too much *for you.* Dana K White calls it your clutter threshold - how much you can personally keep under control and find and use easily. It might be neat and tidy, it might be the perfect amount of stuff for someone else, but if it makes you feel sad or overwhelmed or frustrated it might be time to pass some of it on. I would start with getting rid of some of the stuff that isn’t so pretty. I’m sure there must be some things that haven’t aged well or that aren’t as pretty as the rest of the collection. Thank you so much for this….I really needed to hear it right now. That’s exactly where I’m at, and I know of a scrapbook garage sale in January. As I go through my stash bit by bit, I’ll pull out what doesn’t “sing to me” anymore. I kind of already started the day I opened this thread, and already I’ve discovered some supplies that I still absolutely freaking love, in the same homemade kit that also has some things that just aren’t the thing for me anymore. I’m hoping that by paring down, anything that my hands grab, I’ll love. That’s my goal, anyway. That kit I made, I kept putting off using it because of the parts I didn’t like…it sat so long that I totally forgot about the pieces that a *love* in the same kit.

Possibly a lot of us could have written this post. I have been scrapbooking and accumulating (and losing) supplies for 29 years. This cracked me up!! I just came across some Basic Grey Carte Postale and literally squealed….y’all this stuff is 10 years old and absolutely perfect for a trip we took a couple years ago!

Just give up on a page?
I’m so frustrated. I have a 4x6 that I want to tell a story about, and want it kinda special. I picked out a sketch and went to town. Kinda screwed up a part, but just went with it and one thing led to another, and now I’m close to 2 HOURS IN….and I now hate it. 😣 It is really similar to the sketch, but comparatively, it just looks so out of proportion now, I don’t like it. I’ll keep the stupid page and try to salvage it but I’m just so over this sketch I want to pick something else for this photo and story. Buuuuut I’m now out of scrapping time for the day. Uggghhhhhh

So, I just received my #acmaincharacterenergy order…..
And Imma need MOAR.
This may be my favorite Shimelle collection, ever. May even top Starshine, because the die cuts and stickers are a bit more useful for me (but the floral in starshine…and the reds and navy, and coral, and and..)
But y’all, this is such a happy, versatile collection of colors and patterns and I freaking love it!!! There’s THREE floral papers that I’ve already fussy cut, because they just NEEDED TO BE. So now I need to order more to use as actual paper, ha!

My pet peeve is that they use the same die molds for every collection, so the diecuts/ephemera/tags etc. are always the same shapes for every collection and most of them are too small for me. This annoys me to no end…I realize that tags are all rectangle/square, but that’s a classic, workable shape that you can customize if you want, but come ON with the scalloped edges and exact same shapes in every collection.

I also find it annoying that a company will chart $4.99 for a pack of tags/journaling pieces, but many Simple Stories collections include a 12x12 page of tags for the cost of a sheet of paper, and collections like Vicky B and Shimelle include a cut aparts sheet that easily equates to a "pack" of ephemera... Ephemera packs should be generally icons that would require fancy cutting - even just stars, hearts, flowers - but less of simple tags, journaling squares and word strips that I would happily cut out of a sheet of pp. DUDE!!!! RIGHT!??
