I worship at Liz's minimalist feet. I love her work, her documenting and her overall demeanour. I know she's a far quieter voice in the scrap world than we're used to but she's got a way with thinking her product through and delivering time after time. I pray the scrap gods Inked don't get their hands on her and turn her into the next minimalist subscription kit brand. YES. integrity and class.

Agree about the stories. A lot of the stuff I wrote during my "inspired by Ali" phase sounds pretty cringey to me now. My innermost feelings don't need to be on display for my kids and their friends to read through in the family scrapbook, lol. I'm way more comfortable keeping it light. ok. this made me LOL! hahaha! i'm so annoyingly realistic, that i've never done that kind of journaling, but if i had, i'd find it cringey, too . i've mostly learned about storytelling techniques, a bit of photoshop, and more minimal style from ali - although i think liz tamanaha is the real queen of minimalism!

i like this discussion and hearing everyone's viewpoints. i want to say that i have no subs through ali, nor have i purchased anything from her from 10/28/16 until this month - for December Daily. i don't consider myself a fan girl, as i'm just too practical to be a fan girl of anyone, lol!
and in fact, the things that she offers that are over priced, i simply bypass. no DD chipboard set, none of her t-shirts, etc. i'm not in need of therapy or self-help through my scrapping, although i do agree that there is a subset of people who likely fit that category.
thanks for a lively discussion, ladies.

I agree and am a former big time fan girl. The stench of Inked Brands is starting to rub off on her for many of us. It is also undeniably having a negative impact on the quality of products. Which is really too bad because you won't find a bigger Ali fan than I used to be. She's had a lot of us reach out to her and she smiles, nods, and climbs back in bed with them. For those reasons, Ali you're chopped. i hear this, QueSeraSera . there's a piece of info that ali posted on one of her IG accounts that has given me more faith in her, though. she shared that she is an Enneagram 1; and as an avid student of the Enneagram for over 20 years, i have a small insight into her motivations and values, and feel more optimistic that she'll come through for her customers. things like improving the quality of her story kit cards; responding to quality issues (like she is right now about the Time story kit paper pad); etc. here's a copy and paste about the Enneagram 1: Type One in Brief
Ones are conscientious and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong. They are teachers, crusaders, and advocates for change: always striving to improve things, but afraid of making a mistake. Well-organized, orderly, and fastidious, they try to maintain high standards, but can slip into being critical and perfectionistic. They typically have problems with resentment and impatience. At their Best: wise, discerning, realistic, and noble. Can be morally heroic.
Basic Fear: Of being corrupt/evil, defective Basic Desire: To be good, to have integrity, to be balanced Enneagram One with a Nine-Wing: "The Idealist" Enneagram One with a Two-Wing: "The Advocate" Key Motivations: Want to be right, to strive higher and improve everything, to be consistent with their ideals, to justify themselves, to be beyond criticism so as not to be condemned by anyone.

Stephanie has always seemed SO genuine, and real, and just a lovely person. Even though I have NOTHING in common with her, from lifestyle to scrapbooking style, I've followed her for years because she just comes across as sweet and friendly. Not gonna lie, I am more than a little disappointed that she's joined up with SC. They have let people down again and again and I would have thought ANYONE could see that. Even if you are a busy mother of 5 who probably doesn't have time to read the internet. It's been all over their own forums! I really hope that they treat her well and she doesn't get burned by this. stephanie is very active on social media and keeps in the know about the scrapbooking industry. that is the reason for my disappointment - i feel it is an issue of integrity. i'm not speculating about anything else in her life. just the fact that her eyes are wide open and yet...she would go back to working for april foster.

To me it sounds like people are saddened and dismayed because it seems like she escaped the clutches of Studio Calico (like many wish Ali Edwards would do) only to go right back into the fold and are trying to rationalize the potential why's that made it so. There was no mean girl business going on. this. is very accurate. thank you for summarizing it succinctly.

this is somehow disappointing to me. i'm confident that stephanie knows everything about SC/Inked - she keeps very informed and was there when things were falling apart. that fact that she would go back makes me question her integrity a bit; i can't lie. When you need work, sometimes you have to take jobs you may not otherwise want. with honest respect to your input (meaning absolutely no snark intended), scrapaddict702 , i believe this would only be true if you limit yourself to looking for something "high profile" in this niche industry. i think SH could find a number of other options.

Wow, she posted recently she lost a job she really needed, wonder what it was? What is she going to do for them? Stephanie Howell was the social media person for Gossamer Blue. this is somehow disappointing to me. i'm confident that stephanie knows everything about SC/Inked - she keeps very informed and was there when things were falling apart. that fact that she would go back makes me question her integrity a bit; i can't lie.

i really appreciate these things about ali:
her style her minimalism the consistency of her style her sincere enthusiasm about capturing memories, telling stories her handwriting - i love the acrylic words especially the amount of content, teaching she offers free on her blog her response to feedback
the big drawback: being in business with Inked. however, since i've always had quick and professional CS from ali's staff/CS on any concern - i won't stop buying her products until i see that change.
ETA: when i first learned that ali was going into business with SC, i wrote her a detailed email expressing my concerns and reservations, to which she replied. clearly, ali knows what she is dealing with there. i think she has done a good job of giving good products and service while working within those perameters...i don't know how she has done it.

Yay, heartistic ! You beat the SCystem and I'm delighted for you. I'm at home with a bronchitis (and it's only the start of autumn, yikes). I was saving some money for extra scrap goodies in October but I bought a nice new humidifier (for the incessant cough and house of mucus horror I've become) and eyeshadow palette (for no reason except I-wanna-feel-good-again-and-head-back-to-my-normal-lifeness) instead. This would be the right time for SC to reconduct the $5 kits... #wishfulthinking sleepingbooty - make sure you're using Mucinex (or the generic equivalent) as it helps tremendously with loosening and thinning secretions. i usually recommend the extended release 1200 mg twice daily to my patients. just be sure to take it with food as it can cause nausea on an empty stomach.

Has anyone received a Lost River documenter kit in their mystery kits? I'm looking for that one, if anyone has an extra?
ETA: I don't *think* it was listed on the sale itself at any point.

The customers actually have the upper hand in this latest SCam. AF is "acting" like she doesn't have a care in the world, when in fact, the latest liquidation actions of SC tells a different story. They are scrambling because they're in serious financial trouble. The writing is on the wall with all of these sales, deep discounts and now the latest scam. AF is doing her typical middle finger to the customers while working her smoke and mirrors dance. This is history repeated. Anyone who purchased a box should, at the very least, dispute the charges with their CC company. Not just because SC stole from you, but because you have dignity and value yourself. THIS!!

well girls, i just sent my 'cancel' request for the ae story kit. i feel sad about it but i really think i want to take a break from subbing for a while. i feel kind of at a loss though i don't think it will really hit me until january when there is no happy mail on its way to me. as it stands now, i will still receive the december story kit and the december planner society kit but after that, nothing! it will be a good thing, i think, to catch up on some of the supplies i already have. kellyv i'm curious how you're feeling about this now?? maybe pretty liberated? hopefully not too let down? i went sub free in early 2015 and i have LOVED it. i can still buy single kits; it feels freeing not to have a sub to pay for every month! there's a lot of freedom in it . i am keeping a close eye on Felicity Jane and still love Ali E - but i've had no problems getting single items when i want.

i'm not really in tune with the cost of individual kit contents as much as i used to be...so can someone who is more up to date give me an opinion? i look at the SC kits and i simply cannot justify the cost of each one - they look so sparse and very overpriced. i can't believe how the value has decreased over the years!

Narcissists love control, drama and mind games. So we are right on schedule. And a panicky narcissist? Will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. This is a case study in pathology - completely unbelievable.

NOTHING has changed at SC new rewards = new twist on the same old game of bait and switch kits still not worth the cost no reason to believe the company can be trusted - this takes time - lots of time after the past few years no transparency, no consistency in policy enforcement CEO who micromanages her employees; thus tying their hands, no matter how good they are at their jobs, or as people so wish it was different. it is not. same old, same old

I know someone shared Ali's email with a fellow refugee who was having issues quite a few pages back. If someone has it and would share I would appreciate it. I think my head is going to spin off if I have to wait till next week to hear something about my DD 2013 kits. I would really like to contact her directly without going on th MB at SC. Thanks pretty sure it is ali@aliedwards.com

The advantage of being in a time zone ahead of the US: Discovering that they (as it turned out) accidentally scheduled the AE BF sales on the wrong day (usual error over there) and being able to snag the Story kit of my dreams! (Magic kit) After waiting for that kit to get on sale (for any price) ever since the release. I'm so happy and excited. Yay!!! I do think they have plenty in stock, though, so no need for FOMO. But still excited to get that kit! paperpilekitten i think the customers who got in on this are just lucky...and the sales should be honored, as they say they are:) but woe is me! i can't help but feel stressed for ali, as well as for us, her customers. there shouldn't be so much anxiety involved in buying her products simply because of her contract with SC.

i am completely baffled. really unable to figure out how a company comes to...this.
i just saw over on the SC boards that there was an "oops" early preview of ali's upcoming BF sales. several people were able to buy items before the 'mistake' was rectified. HOW can this be??? i don't understand such ineptitude...

Haha I wouldn't actually work there ... I'm not sure if I really am too sweet... But I do know I couldn't deal with shady business tactics. My integrity and faith is very important to me and I live it out in all aspects of my life. I couldn't work for a company that required me to lie or hide things or misdirect people. No matter how much they paid for me - my integrity isn't worth sacrificing. THIS. It's far more important to be respected than to be liked. However - it's possible to be both in a lot of cases; not always. Tori - I agree with your values in my life, too.

i'd really encourage any of you who feel inclined, to email ali e about your thoughts and concerns about her partnership with SC. even though she likely has contract terms to work with, i think it can only be helpful to her to know how many of her customers have quit buying or are contemplating quitting buying her products because of quality control and CS issues at SC. she's such a professional and will appreciate and respect factual, respectful emails regarding business concerns; this is how she makes a living! and maybe, just maybe, if she has these customer concerns documented - it could help her in negotiating with SC. JMO, of course:) i have emailed her about this, keeping it brief and factual. she responded briefly and professionally. What's the best way to contact her? i was able to contact her at ali@aliedwards.com; HTH:)

Skellinton I am absolutely hysterical over this...in a crazy kind of way!!! because OF COURSE it makes no sense...and here we go, trying to figure it out!! all i can think of is the ONE bad employer i had (i've had numerous good ones)...and when i explained to a peer at another clinic what i was experiencing, his answer was: "mary, you can't fix crazy - run, don't walk, out of that place!"

THIS from @devildog: I agree!
"I really, truly think SC's gonna be in trouble come the beginning of 2016, and I'm sticking with that. I don't know how long even the die hard fans are gonna hang in there. I've seen a couple that have stood out to me as very rah rah over the years make some less than positive comments/reviews over the past several months. Also, SC seems to have a pretty big employee turnover. It must suck to work for them, and those employees know/see what goes on over there.
SC of today is nothing like SC of yesterday, and it's going to continue to change. They may be growing, but not as a leader in the scrapping industry anymore. And if they want to brag about growing, they ought to get a grip on handling their growth because they're all kinds of messed up over there. If they think bait and switch, lower quality, lower quantity, no quality control, will let them continue to grow, I think they're sadly mistaken."
