Paige Evans did some cards with her boxed card set (which are pretty but really flimsy cards - I personally cut them up to use like pp and add them to 100lb cs) and die cuts that have sold out more than a month ago at scrapbook dot com. Her card design style is a little too stickery for me and I can’t abide leaving a perforated edge ragged on one side of an embellishment. A little underwhelming, tbh, but accessible for new card makers and for people who love using paper + die cut + sticker collections.
Her energy was a little manic but I still had to ramp up the video to 1.25x and skip ahead. I don’t need to watch anyone struggling to get the backs of teeny tiny foam dots.

I kept meaning to ask if anyone was doing this summit or if we're all summitted out at this point? and now it's Sept 29 and the thing has already started! I signed up the other day and watched Ardyth already this morning. I really need to make a set of her cards, even if I just use patterned paper. I think I have a die that will work. It's not really anything new and original but she's such a good presenter and I love making multiples. I do need to sit down and use messy powders and inks to make some cardstock sometime too. I can't keep up with buying the right colors. I like Ardyth's bonus video too, and no requirement to sign up for emails to see it Anyway, if anyone else is watching feel free to leave reviews...

We tipped from summer to fall very suddenly so I’m adding all my spooky and autumnal things to the house this weekend. I just need to remember to upload all the photos we took of pumpkin spice nonsense at Target yesterday for our overseas friends. I was very restrained even when my husband was enabling me at full force but I might go back for a silly bat skeleton at a later date. Trying to get the feelings without buying all the stuff!

Papertrey Ink is up at the bottom of the page (right now) and it is very random. At least to me it is. And it is 4x6 for the low, low price of $49.99 with the dies. No, thanks! There are a ton of tiny dies from what I can see but the stamps are buildable/layering. My worst nightmare. It just looks like a lot of work to me! And indoor plants are not a theme I really care for anyway. Only Tim Holtz left now, no more late nights.

Shimelle was talking through some of these issues in a livestream recently. It’s a hard balance to create what sells to big store buyers (who she said often ask companies for more like whatever sold well recently) and what sells to the “average” scrapbooker, whoever that is. Not necessarily the kind of people like us who enjoy discussing scrapbooking on a message board. She mentioned that there had been products she pushed for because ‘everyone’ agreed that this particular thing would be good for us, but then nobody actually bought it. And other ones that for some random or unlucky reason just didn’t do well and so they were put on the failed list to never be offered again.
She also mentioned the loooong timeline between the frenzy of designing and the product actually showing up in stores, and alluded to some disconnect between stores and customers, the stores forgetting that people make the pages AFTER they’ve done the thing. I would’ve loved to dig more into that observation. I think she meant that we don’t know what our Christmas photos will look like until after December so selling Christmas supplies July-Nov kind of sets up a situation where people are guessing what they’re going to want and need.

Yeah, I would say whatever makes you happy and/or doesn’t make your brain explode!
I enjoy having some pages that are a collage of the same event through the years but I often do that with duplicates or extra photos. Those kinds of pages are easier to make once the kid is all grown up and you have the full picture. But it depends on how many photos, how many albums, and how detailed you want to go. Also how much time and energy you have to devote to getting this done.

You can buy specialty products if you search archival photo boxes, but depending in the volume of photos and sizes they can get pricey and I have very few photos I think are worth that level of card. One example I found: www.archivalmethods.com/category/boxesMaking sure they’re dry, protected from extremes of temperature, humidity, and bright light will be 90% of the preservation. Even if you get them into archival boxes you might want to store the boxes inside plastic bins if there’s any possibility of water damage from flooding in your area. Scanning and sharing them with other family members is also insurance against loss.

I tossed a half used bottle of glue. I didn't really like it and I have other liquid glues that are newer and I like better. Maybe it was a waste, but I was getting frustrated every time I used it. I think it is okay to toss things you don't like, right? Of course! Especially something that is a consumable anyway. Just pretend you used a lot more glue on every thing you stuck and used it up. Same difference, right? No one should spend their hobby time feeling frustrated.

I didn't see this thread when it was first posted joblackford . It seems like you already found a plan, but in case you were still on the fence, or if someone else is needing an alternative, I figured I'd share my thoughts. I used the GTWB for a few years but moved on and switched to the Hobonichi Cousin and have never looked back, I love this one so much more! The weekly views are still vertical and have space on the left to add focus boxes. It also has monthly + daily pages so there's tons of space for the breakdown of goals, etc., I prefer the feel of the paper, the weight of the book is much lighter, and the grid size is slightly bigger than GTWB (but still small!) which is perfect. I do miss the monthly art, but there is space to glue stuff into this one if you really wanted that. Thank you, yes I actually switched away from Hobonichi to GTWB because I like to scrawl in big random pens on pure white heavy-ish paper and even though I don’t like the spiral it helps me rip pages out at the end of the year and shred them instead of saving a pretty book on my shelf. I really wanted to break the habit of decorating and making something I couldn’t bring myself to recycle. The opposite of many planner people! First thing I did when I got a new one was take out the letter art pages and give them away/make cards out of them ;P I love that we have lots of different options so we can try different styles and pick the thing that works best for us Hobonichi is definitely a great alternative. I’m sad that Elise is closing because I think she offered something different than what’s out there.

I’m sure by now you’ve seen she’s offering an undated version so you could stock up. If it had a month at a glance section I would be buying it. I’m not much of a weekly planner. Honestly don’t know why she didn’t do this sooner. The undated version is a much nicer size. One of the reasons I gave up on this planner was because it was so big and clunky and I don’t care for a big spiral. I do love the notebooks tho and will be stocking up on those. YES! Forgot I made this thread. I am surprised she didn’t offer the undated sooner too, and I’m excited for the lighter weight. I only switched to the GTWB after I stopped needing to take my planner out of the house. I barely use the monthly view, love the weekly, so I bought 3 years worth of the undated and I got myself a printable of the weekly view as well - insurance for the future. If I change my mind about using this planner in the future I suspect I would be able to find the extras a new home.

I don’t, although I have considered trying to become a 6x6 patterned paper pad+die cuts only cardmaker, and I think I could be 80% happy with that.
But in the context of crochet, yes. I buy one blanket kit and just start crocheting. I don’t always follow the exact pattern for the kit I buy but always from the same artist who designs the kits (Attic24). When I’m done with the blanket I give away any extra yarn and buy a new kit. I don’t even try to stash the extra or come up with a project to use it up. It’s too stressful and ends up leading to me buying more and more on a treadmill of trying to use it up and I don’t enjoy that. Just doing the kit really helps me limit decisions and just go all in on the project in front of me.
Card kits might work a little differently than crochet blankets, but you could try it out. Box up the excess, or just continue doing what you’re doing - grab a kit and focus on that, see what you can do with it. Stopping shopping for novelty and all the other dopamine hits is tricky but that’s kind of a separate issue.

Is the Sweet and Sassy Have Faith set the new one? It’s not showing up at the top of the list for me but I don’t think I’ve seen it before. It’s another nope anyway. Yes. It is a the top of the listings for me. But the stamp set is a NO for me. ETA: On another note, I finally got my Festive Flower today. I like it! I don't see it only as a poinsettia, I can see a tropical flower too. It’s popped up to the top now. I looked about 15 minutes early and it was sneaking around at the bottom, and was still down there about 15 mins after 9PT/12ET. So I guess if people want to check early they should make sure they scroll all the way down, just in case. So glad you got your flower!

God job on the spooky moon, joblackford ! And I love all your coloured spooky scenes, but my favourite is the top left, I think with all the different leaves, I guess the one on bristol board. Thanks! The top left is actually straight onto Neenah white 80lb, one layer. If I play around with that stamp again I’ll try mixing up the leaf colors more

I have some new/new to me supplies that I want to use. I work obsessively on one project for a few weeks and need to choose well when I set aside my current Noel die obsession. I guess I should make a list of them so I can hold myself accountable… (off the top of my head) C&9th poinsettia quilt die Record/music themed products old MMH coffee kit Halloween scene builder stamps tried twiceGhost background stamp (not new but underused) Simple Stories Christmas paper Doodlebug fall collection Maybe with the stamps and dies I should do a “10 cards 1 product” type of challenge like some card YTers do. The papers/collections have a natural end point for me - I use them up. Random papers in my drawer Well, I didn’t use the things on my list much so far but I have been using some other supplies that are new to me. Maybe that means I have too many new things. I guess I’ve got a couple of days to try and do something from my list

I'm wondering if it's a cost savings thing (maybe dies are expensive as they're trying to tell us with these prices) or, maybe more likely, a production timeline thing. Maybe the dies aren't ready in time to get them shipped out early to the DT. I'm guessing it's a quantity thing because the design team members/bloggers are only going to use these products once. Most of the big influencers will never use discontinued products on future cards and since Stamptember products are a one and done, it doesn't make sense to give them dies that could be sold to paying customers. OMG I never thought about the fact that the DT won’t use them again unless it’s for their personal use off camera because they like them. I guess we need to make friends with some influencers! (not this year - I don’t even want most of this year’s sets even for free)

I only just finished this but I'm excited to share it right away because I'm so proud of how the moon turned out! I really wanted to learn how to get a good spooky moon glow and I've been debating about getting TH moon stencils which are always out of stock, or maybe the new Picket Fence ones. I watched a Prairie Paper & Ink video last night (photo of the project below) that got me inspired to try it without buying anything - surely I could just use a circle die cut for the mask, right? And it worked so well. I don't really need the defined craters on the moon. I just blended some yellow ink and misted and splattered with water. And I have nested circle dies so I can make the moon different sizes very easily. Sept share - moon! by jo.blackford, on Flickr Inspiration: http://instagram.com/p/Cxl3JkPRxAD

Nichol Spohr was also fussy cutting. I find that very odd that the design team didn’t get the dies. Two more cutesy holiday stamps tonight, Newton's Nook and LaLaLand Crafts - penguins and pets in stockings, both small sets, both easy nopes for me.
Fun fact: Amy R/Prairie Paper&Ink talked about how she didn't have the dies for any of the stamptember sets and has been fussy cutting all month, and I realized Jennifer McGuire talked about not having the dies too, so I guess that's standard for the DT. Now that I look at the examples on SSS I see they're all fussy cut.

I just bought one of these. I bought it from a small, local stamp store. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am hoping this will help. I hated the fact that MSP made the product, but my hands get so cramped when using liquid glue, especially when I'm making a mini album. Hoping it helps you You'll have to let us know!

How many kitchens are there? Entertaining kitchen, butler's pantry kitchen, guest suite basement kitchen, was there an outdoor one too? I was feeling sick by the time we got outside. Does she even cook? I'd be surprised if she does. I'd love to see inside the cupboards and fridge TBH. Much more interesting than the public stuff that's all status. Show me where she keeps the Hamburger Helper, Oreos, and Velveeta.

Ooh, I love a ridiculous real estate post. "MASSIVE PRICE REDUCTION!" That's always a great way to start a real estate blurb... Speaking of the blurb, that's a lot of words about status and showing off how wealthy you are in one paragraph. My eyes glazed over.
1. How many pictures of the exterior/neighborhood/aerial view do you need? 2. I don't really know anything about her but she's obvs a great customer of Louis Vuitton. 3. Definitely somewhat staged, but regardless of the furnishings the basic finishes are OTT and very cold and severe. It doesn't look to me like the whole house was staged from empty. There were some specific personal items like said LV collection (hope they don't get lifted during the showings, lol) and the crafty office room. Looks like perhaps one person moved out - the lower bars of the closet was empty. 4. I could probably fit my entire house in one of her garages. 5. I'd love to swim in that pool but you couldn't pay me to live in that house. In short, yuck. I find the whole thing obscene.
