I'm watching coverage of the area near the White House right now and am not understanding why they are trying to move the protestors? They look like they are being peaceful?
ETA that I don't think his speech is going to bring good results. I feel like I want to burn shit up right now. And I was against that before his speech.

That speech was dumb and full of dog whistles. It did nothing but threaten more force if people don’t stop protesting. It did not make me feel warm and fuzzy and that were all United as one country together. It made me feel scared. Scared that we’re headed into martial law for who knows how long. Scared that more innocent people who are peacefully protesting will be maimed and murdered. I have a table full of kids who are asking questions I don’t have answers for. I’ve just spent 10 minutes trying to reassure our 2 oldest that we are safe here from what they just saw on the news.

OMG trump is right at this minute preparing to go across the street to St. John's Church FOR A PHOTO OP!!! They just had to use massive manpower to clear out the protestors so he can go across the street. To a church where all previous presidents have worshipped. Except him of course. Omg...

They just had to use massive manpower to clear out the protestors so he can go across the street. To a church where all previous presidents have worshipped. Except him of course. Omg... That church body does a lot of wonderful things for all the marches it's seen the past few years. They usually have tables in front with bottled water, protein bars and other snacks. They've even let us in to use the restroom. It's a gorgeous old church.
I'm pretty sure most of the parishioners would tell Trump to F-off if they had the chance.

I heard him referred to as 'Bunker Boy" which has a nice ring. If only I could come up with an alliteration that included 'cadet bonespurs', it would summarize him. Bunker Donnie boy. He hates being called don or Donnie. He liked The Donald. |

This was before his speech and before the curfew. It later became apparent that they used force to move the protestors because of Trump's desire for a photo op. I just had to change the channel. I have a very bad feeling about how things are going to go in DC. I have such mixed feelings about what is going on right now. |

We’re watching and understood that Voldemort was coming out soon to speak. I believe he chose St John’s in hopes that moving the crowd would spark violence. My belief. I can’t even think about a bible in his hand. They are reporting here that damage to the church was about $25K in the nursery losing all the furniture and toys.
I’ve worshipped in that church and worked nearby for years. Lafayette Plaza, Farragut Square Etc. is where workers sit and eat lunch, exercise and enjoy watching the tourists. My friend worked in the building just off the plaza. They held a party for clients every Inauguration Day so they could watch the parade from their offices. Lots of good memories of that park.

Maybe it's better that he isn't involved. All he's done so far is perpetuated the situation and escalated it. Surely to goodness there must be some way to get him out of office. It's five months away until the election, your country will be in the middle of a civil war by then if it carries on the way it is going now. Well....he commented tonight (monday) and it looks like he's going to escalation route by threatening people... |
