This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

kitbop I'm trying to get back to more healthy eating too...not much progress so far. Did you get your car fixed and all your plans completed?
knutschen hoping you get to take off work as long as you need to...and have fun in St. Louis!
patin good to see your name here again...hoping to hear all about your adventures soon.
joyfulnana out of space for scrapbook supplies....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
grammadee thanks for all you do for us. Enjoying all your pages you are sharing and your Christmas adventures
Linda so glad you had DS home for Christmas.
kellyr21 So glad to hear how much better you are...I really wasn't even aware of how sick you were last year. hoping you have a healthy and exciting 2020!
justjac hope you had a fun celebration with your brother and family. Looking forward to seeing you mini album
msliz love your advice:"Just breathe and have a cup of cocoa. " hope that's what you are doing, too!
nylene hope you are enjoying your family this week....(I was so ready for mine to go home) The Phillipines.. oh my. The world is such a scary place these days.
I'm getting back into my routine after being "not well" almost all fall. I've had everything checked out and the final decision was that a virus that put me on the couch for almost a month (I got in September ) caused me to be "deconditioned". I'm still short of breath a lot, but improving slowly and I've resumed almost all my activities, but still have to take breaks sometimes.
I had trouble keeping up with cooking and packing, etc during Thanksgiving and christmas. That's why I was ready for family to go home. Dr. recommended I push myself so I'm doing that. I'm walking 20 minutes a day and sometimes longer. (when dh goes with me) I've found it easy to not scrapbook, so I'm working this week on getting back into that routine and so far, have done something every day.
We had fun on all our trips and enjoyed so much seeing gs #1 and taking him to Palo Duro Canyon. He is so sweet and we don't get to see him very often. he is a big hiker...we took him on his 1st hike when he was 5 and he still remembers it. Hoping to go to his wedding next fall. This pic is us and dgs plus our dd and her family from Lubbock. He was in Lubbock for a week at TT working on some certificates so he can get a better job. Wishing every one a Happy, blessed, successful and fun 2020, and looking forward to spending time with you all this year!
I wanted to show you this pic of dh and my #5 grandson (on the left). His mom thinks he looks like dh and sent me this pic of him ready to go to a "roaring 20's NYE party". I'm not so sure. What do you think? (I think they both are very handsome as are all my grands!)

Its me again! I wanted to show you some more pics. #1. Dgs on his 1st hike when he was 5.
# 2. It was my birthday when we went to palo dura and of course, no one pays much attention to us December babies, so I took my own birthday party with me to Lubbock.
I took a cake, cherry limeade and gifts. The gifts were just little stocking stuffers for the kids.

Good Thursday morning, Pokeys! I am back in my scraproom bumbling around looking for things. Yesterday, I found the gingerbread house stickers I had been looking for a couple of days ago and finished those pages. But I have one more gingerbread construction LO I want to do. Last night I had laid out the photos and supplies I wanted to use. But this morning I remembered seeing (in the last month) a 3-D sticker of a Nordic Christmas cottage from a few years ago. So of course I went down THAT rabbit hole... Have found a LOT of unused Christmas themed bits and bobs, but not the item I was hunting. Have decided to just move on, and use some of the forgotten items I DID find. Who wants to bet that little cottage will pop up about the time I am completely done scrapping Christmas??? Sometimes I think my memory will drive me crazy! If I don't know where something is, why do I remember I have it? Wouldn't it be better to just forget until I open a drawer or cubby and suddenly there it is like a Christmas gift? Of course that is what happened the LAST time I set my eyes on that rascal... Should have put it with these photos... Good to hear from you, @elaynef! And thankyou for sharing the photos. I actually DO see a lot of resemblance between your dh and your dgs: I think some of it is in the facial expression, but it is definitely there! And neither one of them hurts the eyes LOL. And it is cute that you took your own birthday party with you on your travels! Hopefully you will continue to feel better. But be sure to allow yourself some down time, too. Some of those viruses can really throw a punch! Waving hello to joyfulnana, nylene, knutschen, justjac, kellyr21, msliz, kitbop and any other Pokeys. (Have I mentioned my memory this morning? ) Hoping to hear from maribeth and patin, too, this month.

Good morning, Pokeys! We had a great day together yesterday. My DD's family has a yearly tradition of "The Polar Plunge". Regardless of weather, they all gather at the local Reservoir on New Year's Day and run down and plunge into the icy water. Why? Who knows? Yesterday all of DD's family (except DD who is the photographer) and the 2 oldest Calif kids did the plunge. They run back to the pavilion, wrap up in towels and head back to the house for a hot meal. You will be seeing scrapbook pages of this crazy tradition. We all gathered for delicious French dip sandwiches at DD's home. We had a few hours of visiting, playing games, etc. and had to drive back to our home last night in a snowstorm. It was all worth it. Little Topher asked me to make it snow while he was here from Calif. I had nothing to do with it, but we have plenty of snow. grammadee , I won't get back into my scraproom until next week. The kids will all leave this weekend. I had to laugh at your logic; why remember you have something if you can't remember where you put it. LOL. I know that feeling exactly! @elaynef , it's so nice to see your happy face popping up. I love your photos. I agree that your DGS looks much like his grandfather. The nose, lips and chin are so similar and they are both sooo handsome. What fun that is! DNA is amazing. I hope you had a nice birthday, even if you had to bring it along yourself. I giggled that you even brought presents...but gave them to the grands rather than the birthday girl. Happy Belated B-day. Your family photo is so nice. You are looking great. I hope you will soon be back to full strength again. Those viruses can be brutal as we gain in years. joyfulnana , I meant to leave a note on the Dec. thread but forgot. Please don't ever think you have to keep up with everyone on this thread. It is a "no pressure zone". Check in and chat when you can but feel free to just check in and let us know what's going on when time permits. We all have lives outside of 2peas so everyone understands. I don't work anymore and I have trouble keeping up. I hope you are going to get Disney photos of Rudy. Those are such fun to scrap. Have a great day! I will have all the kids here in a few minutes so need to go prepare.

HAPPY NEW YEAR PEAS!!! It's 2020 and I hope the new year has been pleasant for you and your families. Ron and I got away for our vacay to Newport Beach area. It was very nice and fun. We went to Fashion Island outdoor mall. They have one of the largest Christmas trees I think in the U.S. It was beautiful. I did a lo about it some years ago and might do one this month about it. This area also has a mega indoor mall called South Coast Plaza. We went there and it was spectacular with Christmas décor. This mall is a "high end" shopping center with such stores as Gucci, Valentine, Dior, Tiffany's and others. I walked into Tiffany's and oh boy, those diamonds were so brilliant. Just amazing! Don't know if I will ever own anything from there but at least I can say I went into the store. LOL!
Also, thank you all who sent me Christmas cards! I hope you got mine, too. They will be up with my Christmas décor for a while. My dh loves Christmas so I will keep everything except the tree up until... well until!
nylene Yes, you could hear my "typing voice" is much brighter now. I am feeling so much better. It is wonderful! I am getting used to this newer me and pacing myself.
@elaynef, I didn't talk much about how bad I was feeling especially last Summer when things got more exhausting. But it was tough. It was suggested that I have the surgery some years ago, but I just wasn't ready. Last year, I was struggling more and more. Then, my old dr. retired and I went to the new dr. I knew I had to do something. It turned out the new, young dr. was incredible and took me step my step through the process all the way through the surgery and post- surgery visits.
God gave me the strength to get through it and I am so grateful. I understand how you are feeling, trying to get back on your feet. I am resting and pushing a little too. My body is so happy not to be going through all that woman stuff now. LOL! My energy is improving and I am looking forward to more good days ahead. You are doing good, too.
@elaynef- You did have some good times this holiday season. I think your dgs and dh are both handsome and great dressers. Good to hear you are walking. That is what I gotta back to, regular walks. It has been "California cold" but today was 70 plus degrees. So maybe I can walk more if I warms up a little. I am cheering for you!
Waving hi to you all and hope to share some pictures soon.

Happy New Year's!! @elaynef Happy Birthday!! grammadee I really hope to be able to get my scraproom in order. My husband keeps wanting to move things upstairs that he doesn't know what to do with. It t is a mess currently. nylene It sounds like you had a lovely New Years! I don't think I would want to participate in the Polar Plunge! BRR! kellyr21 Your vacation sounds lovely! I went to get my stitches out today. i thought I was seeing the doctor and got told that you don't have a post-op appointment unless something it is needed for some reason. I thought that was odd. I talked to the nurse about not being ready to go back and so I don't go back until January 24th. That gives me 3 more weeks. Then she sent me to see the Occupational Therapist for home exercises to help increase my strength. She thought I was where I should be at this point for mobility if not a bit ahead. That made me feel good. She said I can start water aerobics but not to use the weights yet. Driving is getting much easier for me. I am glad to have the extra time to heal. I hope to start planning for the crop in St. Louis. I have had a few ideas in my head today and need to get them planned out better. I hope to make kits and be more organized to not have to bring as much as I normally do. I j just need my husband to be away during the day so I can concentrate!

knutschen , glad you are healing nicely and that you have extra time before going back to work. kellyr21 , how lovely for you and Ron to have a get-away! I hope it was relaxing. nylene , The Polar Plunge!!! That's insane, but what a fun page.
@elaynef, your dgs does have some of your dh's features for sure.
I probably won't be responding much this month, but will try to keep up on reading the posts. Hoping everyone has a fabulous January.

Sounds like 2020 is off to a healing start - glad to hear things are progressing knutschen! You must feel like you deserve a bit of a break before going back to work - having surgery/recovering is no vacation - you need a vacation after going through it! @elaynef, recovery is often harder than the illness because you have to push yourself that little bit and who likes that??? Glad you feel like you are gaining ground. Yes, your I do think GS looks like your DH! kellyr21, high end malls scare me! We have a mall in Toronto where 1 corridor is things like you've listed, Tiffany Gucci etc - I stay away from that area! Couldn't buy anything there anyways, nor is it my style. I'd feel so out of place and feel like the people were looking down their noses at me! Speaking of pushing myself: gotta get the Christmas tree down (I grew up being told it was essentially bad luck to have the tree up beyond Jan. 5). I froze a lot of the leftover baking to stop myself from eating it...but...there is still enough junk around to be terribly bad. Sigh.

knutschen , I am happy that you are able to be off work long enough to recover and get your strength back. Lifting patients right now would not be good. Your crop in St Louis sounds like fun. Please share some of your pages here when you get home. I hope page kits help to get more accomplished. This made me laugh out loud! I j just need my husband to be away during the day so I can concentrate! Welcome to retirement! LOL My poor husband can't get away from me because he can't drive. He does have lunch with a bunch of friends a couple of times a month. I have to say I look forward to those times. I love him to pieces but sometimes need some space and peace. kitbop , I'd be in real trouble if I had to have the tree, etc. down by the 5th. My goal is always...must be down before Feb 1. I love the Christmas decor and just hate to put it away. I usually have something interfere so that I don't get it up until after the 15th, so I want to enjoy it a little longer. DH always wants me to just change the ornaments for hearts and leave it up through Feb. Is everyone well at your home now? kellyr21 , your getaway with Ron sounds wonderful and relaxing. I remember the page you did about that big beautiful tree. I'd love to see one from this year's tree. I'm so glad you are feeling better. You have had a rough year. You will love this newer you as you continue to recover and go on with life. You are blessed to have a caring husband who is by your side. LisaDV , just drop in if you have time. I know this is a busy month for you. Do you have lots of snow right now? Ours is deep and good snowman snow. It has melted a bit today, but more is coming during the next week. grammadee , you are on a scrapping roll! I am loving all the pages you have accomplished the first 4 days of the month. I love your gingerbread pages. I have more to do so many scraplift some ideas. You are a fast scrapper! Thanks for setting up all the Team challenges and other fun activities here. It makes this such a nice, comfortable home. Somehow I have misplaced a couple of things I use constantly for scrapping. I know the little boys played in here quite a bit, but they wouldn't be interested in my tape runner and other adhesives. Where could they be? I am giving it until Monday and if they don't turn up I'll go buy them again if they are available. Just minutes before my son and family arrived for Christmas I walked out of my scraproom and my jacket snagged on the corner of the big die organization box Steve built for me. It slid off the table, tipped over, dumping all my organized dies on the floor. Luckily my little organizer, Sammie, volunteered to refill the box. She did a great job. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Hello everyone,
Just popping in for a moment - I've been busy scrapping all day trying to finish up my DD. I only have the New Year's layouts to go now.
DD19 goes back to college tomorrow and DD13 goes back to school on Tuesday. I fly out on Wednesday to work on my mum's house so I'll be offline most of the month.

Hi Pokeys, glad to read your decade is starting off well. My house is back in order with most of the holiday stuff put away, and laundry done from various overnight house guests (one more coming for this week). I've been trying to kick off the year by eating healthy, and maybe I'll eventually talk myself into exercising too, but not just yet. My DD with the health issues has been working on an adult ed program to get her HS diploma. It's a struggle, but she's motivated and she's making good progress. I'm really proud of her! LisaDV , I think about your DD often. How's her recovery going? Linda , You'll be in my thoughts. It's such a difficult thing to do. Take pictures of everything so you won't be tempted to keep too many things. And record your stories as they come to you. I think memory keepers like us can be very tempted to keep objects, but the real treasure is just the memory itself. (((hugs))) And Thank You to all of you for your lovely cards this past month. I always love to get Happy Mail !!!

Glad to see people dropping in when they can. Congrats to your dd working on her HS diploma, msliz. justjac is an instructor in adult secondary education and that is what I did for years. We know how hard it can be, but also how rewarding. I agree with kitbop that I would have felt really out of place even window shopping at those high end stores, kellyr21. I once made the mistake of asking the price of a blazer in that type of store in Calgary (My ds had sent me there as a joke without warning me about the price ranges) and the clerk told me that if I could afford it I wouldn't have to ask! But I am glad you had fun. Nice to see you have dived right into scrapping nylene. Love your cute little gingers making gingerbread houses! kitbop, your MIL will LOVE your bright happy calendar. She will smile every time she glances at it. I always try to get the photos to fit the month, but I like the way you spread the camping photos throughout. I have to be careful what I wish for. I was hoping for ONE photo from my ds of their Hawaii trip to use for my January calendar page, and he has been feeding hundreds of photos into the shared spot on the icloud. I don't know how I will be able to STOP scrapping them LOL! LisaDV, I hope you can take a little time for yourself this next busy month. And that everyone in your family is starting the year healthy. And speaking of healthy, I am glad your wrists are healing nicely, knutschen, and that you will be betting OT to help with rehabilitating them for returning to work. With joints, it's always a tricky balance between not reinjuring the joint and not permanently losing mobility in it. My house is a mess, my laundry needs doing (except for all the sheets people threw down the laundry chute before they left: they are washed & dried, but still in the laundry room downstairs), and my Christmas decorations are not coming down for another week and a half at least. We keep them up until at least "Ukrainian New Years" which is January 14th. I always feel sad when I have to stow all the pretties back into the basement. After a month in which I did very little scrapping, I have been busy getting the holiday season of 2019 onto pages. Fifteen so far... I have been sharing on the Sharing thread, but here are a couple of my favourite LO's: Hey Santa! by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Beginning to look alot like Christmas by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Running out of steam today, but I did finish this LO which will be one of the first in the album Have yourself a sweet Christmas by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Off to look through my photos. I didn't do today's Scrap Happy prompt (Christmas candy). I didn't take any candy photos and have not been eating my favourite chocolates this season, so I am not in the mood. Hoping I will have photos for tomorrow's prompt. If not, I will need to just grab a stack of pic's I DO have and start scrapping...

msliz , congrats to your DD for stepping out and finishing her studies. How is she feeling generally? I hope this continues. She's a brave girl. I plan to eat in a more healthy way this year too, but I need to get all the Christmas goodies out of the house. I think every neighbor brought candies and cookies and the kids didn't eat them all. Linda , you will be in my thoughts and prayers for the ability to take care of your mother's things. I found myself crying often as I found precious things, but they were therapeutic tears. I agree with msliz 's suggestions to write the stories, or at least get enough on paper to write when you get home so you don't have to save everything. grammadee and justjac , are you two doing the LOAD this month? I saw something mentioned. I don't know how you keep that up and still do all you two do. I am enjoying your Christmas layouts, grammadee . If you are doing LOAD, I am glad you are on my team. LOL! knutschen , I hope you are seeing improvement each day with your exercises. When is your crop? kellyr21 , have you been able to get out and walk some? We have had warmer weather (high 30's) the last couple of days, but we are expecting snow again later in the week. DH does go out walking each day, but he walks too fast for my knee and if he walks with me it's more like strolling for him. I hope to be able to walk in the mall in a few weeks. They are doing a lot of construction, so walkers have been banned for now. Waving to all the Pokeys. I am still looking for lost items in my scraproom. May have to make a Michaels and Hobby Lobby run..

Hello everyone! Man I know I say it all the time but it's true, time is going way too fast for my liking lately and I have no idea where it's going. My kiddos are back from Florida and while I got a few photos through text of things they were doing, DS brought along his DSLR and I'm sure he got lots of great photos that I haven't seen. I will be snagging copy's to scrap lol! I'm trying to convince him to order a photobook of the trip. At least that way the photos will get printed. linda I will be thinking of you as you work at your mum's. Take it easy on yourself and do what you can. kellyr21 your getaway sounds fun, but I'm with the other ladies, those stores are way out of my league lol. But as you said, at least you can say you were at Tiffany's! lol It looks like everyone is off to a great start to the new year! I've been decluttering and taking Christmas down. Now off to comment on the pretty's in the gallery! I'm loving your Christmas pages grammadee! @elaynef love seeing your family photo and that photo of your DGS first hike, he's so cute! @knutshen have fun at your crop and yay for more time off work! msliz that's so awesome about your DD. She should be proud of herself.

Good morning Pokeys. I didn't scrap at all yesterday. Did not have a good sleep the night before for some reason, and then dh was busy setting up his new phone and looking for things to get himself set up for the new year. Needed quite a bit of help with both, so I realized pretty early in the day I needed to give up my own project plans and focus on what he needed done. Today dh has gone to town for some appointments and to have coffee with his friends, so I am back into my scraproom. nylene there is no LOAD this month, but last month Scrap Happy offered up a class, "Scrap Christmas in January". They offered photo prompts last month, and in January they are doing page prompts and examples each day. So far, I have completed 6 out of 7. Their sharing is on facebook this time so I can't share with the group, but I have been sending links from my Flickr posts to the leader who promised me she would include them on the fb group. Today is Ukrainian Christmas. Yesterday evening we were invited out to a restaurant by our nephew. Tonight I am cooking a pork roast. I had thought about roasting a chicken, but I don't think that will be as much appreciated since it is so close to turkey leftovers. Glad Rudy is back home--and your son of course-- joyfulnana. Can you get him to bring over the dslr with its cord so you can upload onto your computer? Then you can save all the Florida pic's on your computer, and print the ones you want to scrap. Have no idea what I will do with all the photos flying my way on the icloud from Hawaii. I think it is revenge for my whining when my dsil didn't send any pic's from their trip to see her mum in England last March... Thinking of you, Linda as you prepare to head to your mum's house. Love msliz's advice: take your time, wrap yourself in the memories, do some daily journaling, and snap pic's of the things that evoke the memories. Then whether you keep or not, you will have the memories to tell your kids about &/or to scrapbook when you get home. (((((HUGS)))))

Happy Tuesday, Pokey Peas! I have pulled out a couple of photos of little Swayzee, but the ideas are just not coming. So I decided to work on organizational stuff in this room until some inspiration comes. I have plenty of other photos I could scrap, but my brain seems stuck today. Maybe tomorrow. grammadee, I understand about your DH being out of the house today. My DH is being picked up by guys from work for a lunch meeting with a fertilizer comp. I'm hoping that inspiration will hit while he's gone. I spent early this a.m. helping him read technical stuff on his computer to prepare for the lunch meeting. I have meant to ask you if you or your DH are of Ukrainian origin. joyfulnana, what fun to have lots of Disney photos to scrap. Those are always my very favorite. I'm sure Rudy had a wonderful time and you will have lots from which to choose. BTW, how is your work this time of year? Have a great week, everyone.

Thank you all for the thoughts and advise. I'm all packed (one carry-on and one personal item) and ready to fly out tomorrow - my sister will meet me at the airport. I have middle seats on both flights - sigh - I miss the days when you didn't have to pay extra to pick your seat or to check a bag. nylene - lovely layouts and great photos! grammadee - enjoy your creating time while your DH is busy. Happy Ukranian Christmas! Love your layouts also. msliz - thanks! Good luck to your dd - good for her! Hi to everyone. I'll check back in once I'm home again later in the month

nylene My crop starts on January 16th. I will drive to St. Louis that day and return that Sunday. I need to get busy with planning! That is only a week away. My hands are doing good and the soreness is improving. I did get the go ahead to attend water aerobics without using the foam weights. It feels good to be back in the water! Last night, I had one of my kitties come into the living room with a mouse! Then both kitties were having fun with the mouse. This went on for a bit till I was able to get the mouse into a paper bag. I took it to a nearby park with a river. It was funny tonight, one of the kitties was playing with a few toy mice I had gotten them. I wonder if they think how those didn't move quite like the one from the night before!! My parents came over and helped me with my drain in the kitchen sink. The metal broke off leaving a big hole. I was afraid that something that shouldn't would have fallen into the sink and then down the drain. I am glad my Dad was able to help me. My Mom even helped me get the tree down and we let my DH take it upstairs when he was ready.

Linda , I'll be thinking of you this month. Big hugs. msliz , it's wonderful that your dd is working on her GED. I was going to reach out to you just to talk a few weeks ago, as sometimes it would be nice to talk to someone that goes through similar things but obviously never did.

Happy Thursday! The FLU got us!!! When my dh went back to work after our vacay a week ago today, lots of folks were sick. He was ok but by the end of the work day, he was sick. We thought it was just a cold but it was the flu. He stayed home Friday. He rarely stays home so I knew he was wiped out. I was doing ok being a nurse and staying out of his space but by Saturday I got sick. It attacked my stomach. I ended up in the ER super nauseous from a med I took to stop the nausea!!! I haven't had the flu in... decades! So this was a surprise. We are still sick but today is much better for both of us. My dh went back to work on Monday and we have prayed he wouldn't get it again with all those sick workers around. What an exciting way to start the new year! Just popping in to let you know I am alive and almost well. Gotta catch up on you all. Hugs!

kellyr21, No! You have had enough illness for this year. Oh, ya, it's a new year! I am so sorry you two both caught bugs and that you ended up in the ER. Sicknesses are really going around the schools right now. It's cold and snowy so kids have to stay in for lunch and recess so that just gives them more access to their classmates' germs. I hope you and Ron are back on the mend soon. Take it easy and drink lots of liquids. Hi, @elaynef, are you organizing photos from your Christmas adventures? I look forward to seeing your photos and layouts. knutschen, your crop sounds wonderful. I hope your hands are healed enough for you to really enjoy it and get lots done. grammadee, you have really been scrapping. I'd love to sit at your table and watch your scrapping process. Your pages are all so individual and have so many innovations on them. It would take me days to think of all the ideas you use. I did get a little brave today and sprayed some distress spray on my cardstock base. It's not great, but it's a start! I'll post it tomorrow. Today we did things that I have never had to do before. Steve always took the car for tire rotations, oil changes, etc. It seems strange to take him to do all those things. I noticed that as the MEN came to give us back the keys at both places they handed them to DH. LOL We laughed about it as we got in the car. Funny assumptions that the husband always drives. Then we made our usual trip to Home Depot. I'm surprised they don't greet us by name as we enter. They do that at the Craft Supply place where he buys his pen supplies...well, they greet Steve by name. I hope you all have a great weekend. We are expecting lots more snow.
