I'm sorry I forgot about you above, justjac , when I mentioned the crop. It was good to see you as well, I'm just spacey. I love how you made your calendar with photos!! It's fabulous. Thanks for sharing, grammadee . I'm going to try to stop in tonight as well. Fingers crossed. I have to get started on these cards or my workspace will remain buried in supplies. I like the idea of a December Documented as opposed to a Daily December, I could never get behind that one for the same reasons nylene and grammadee gave - so many uninteresting days. nylene & kellyr21 , I'm glad you both are feeling better. It does take awhile to fully recover, so give yourself permission to take it easy and rest as necessary. kellyr21 , what kind of cards are you making? DH is definitely sick. I think he got a little miffed when I sanitizer wiped the salt shaker after he used it last night , but today he feels so crummy that he thinks I should sanitize everything and is worried about me getting sick (how sweet). I will go sanitize all the knobs and handles today and spray some lysol around. He's hosting the guys for game night this Saturday, and I'm hoping he's better by then. Since I'm now going to be home, I asked him last week if there was anything he wanted me to make for the evening. After a day or two of thought he said a charcuterie board. Okay. I'm thinking of where I can get good sausages and meats and cheese around here as I don't have this place wired yet. I started a brine on a pork belly over the weekend, and DS will smoke it on Friday. I asked DH yesterday if he thought getting some fresh polish sausage from the local meat place and smoking it would be okay. I'll make chicken liver pate. I found another meat place that does various summer sausages and meats that I want to go look at. The best cheese shop is in GR, so I'll make do with whole foods probably. He was then like I just thought a summer sausage, cheese and crackers, nothing so fancy. Oh, yeah, you probably should have said that instead of charcuterie, brings to mind a whole different tray to me. Of course, now he wants the fancy. (face palming my own silliness). My week plan is to clean the house, finish the website, work on Valentine's cards, and shop for and make the charcuterie platter that I could have just gotten by with an easy sausage/cheese/cracker grocery deli tray (shaking head at own stupidity).
Off to start some of that work.

woodysbetty- Sending you a gentle hug! I had been thinking about you and hoping all was well. So glad to hear from you and wishing you a speedy recovery. Prayers to ya! nylene LisaDV- Yes, I have two birthday cards to make. I ordered an Anna G die set I am waiting for so I can make these cards with my other supplies. LisaDV- These colds/flus are really going around. I hope he feels better for his game day. joyfulnana- Your team is going to the SUPERBOWL! I am rooting for them. It should be a good game. Fingers crossed! justjac- Those Christmas bags you made were too cute! What a fun way to put your gifts in. grammadee- I know your doggies enjoyed running around outside. Glad you all are staying warm. Hang in there!

kellyr21, be sure to show us your b-day cards or post them on your blog. I love your Anna Griffin card making. So elegant. LisaDV, I laughed at the extra work you envisioned for yourself and now have to do it. Charcuterie boards are the rage around here for outdoor wedding receptions in the summer. I know a lot of people love them. I get migraines from sausage or other smoked meats so I stay clear. They look so beautiful sitting on a table. Good luck and I hope your DH is better by then. justjac, thanks for the info about the December Documented. I think I may look into that next year. That would fit us better than a daily journal album. kitbop, I love your calendars. I need to get myself in gear and do something like that, if only for me in my scraproom each year. My little TV (with VCR in bottom) in my scraproom died Sunday night. The VCR worked but not the TV. I pulled out all the stuff beneath the tables so we could get to all the wires! DSIL came Mon and said I just needed to swap out the "box" with Comcast. We did the "sit and wait" thing at Comcast, got the box and installed it. With DSIL on one phone and Comcast on another we finally got it to work. Now I have the center of the room filled with all the stuff I store under the table. I need to vacuum and dust under there so it's going to have to sit for a while. I feel much better, but not well enough to be sitting on the floor cleaning and reorganizing. I'm planning to feel better on Sat! (Hope my optimism works!) I worked in the mess and finished a page I started earlier. When I can get to my scanner, I'll scan and post it. LOL ...oh, and identify the cord that goes to the scanner!

It was lovely seeing you--at least virtually--at the cyber crops Saturday and Tuesday, LisaDV and msliz. I popped in and was gone again by the time justjac was able to join the party yesterday, but it was great to play with you and kitbop on Saturday. Good luck with your fancy meat tray, LisaDV. I have never heard of one of those up here in the sticks! And I hope your dh is well enough be Saturday to host the event. Speaking about feeling better, I laughed when I saw your statement, nylene, that "I'm planning to feel better, Saturday"! Hoping your optimism works for you. Glad you got your VCR working again with the TV. So many electronics are made to be disposable. They work just fine until the Next Big Thing comes out. Glad your son in law could bring it back to life. Would love to see your Anna Griffin cards, kellyr21. Well I guess Christmas is finally OVER here. I have been moving decorations down to the basement all week. Left the tree until last, because I want it to be accessible first next December. Dh still has to carry it down and put it into its box, but it is ready to go, the floor vacuumed and the furniture back into its usual arrangement. Full disclosure, there is still a lot to pack up and stow away downstairs, but it is all sorted and ready to go into its bins. And my scrapping supplies still need quite a bit of time. Last year I basically just grabbed everything Christmas and stuffed it into the corner cabinet. So this year it was a bit of a hastle to find what I wanted to use. I have now sorted all the papers I had out doing my December album, but don't want to store them until I have gone through a big tub that has papers from years back. Hoping I can sort by colour scheme or vibe and meld the newer in with the old. But so far I have not tackled that. At least they are off my counters and sorted in another bin. Will get to them after the chaos is corralled in the basement. We are going out to play cards with friends tonight. Tomorrow I need to drive into town to get gas and pick up my meds. And we have a pancake supper at the Seniors' club. Then Friday I will be heading to my dd's for the weekend. Her little guy has a hockey tournament and was very excited to invite me to "stay at a hotel with water slides!" But when I told him I would need to pack my bathing suit, he said, "You HAVE one?" He thought it would be fun if I went down the water slide, but then decided it would be safer if I just sat in the hot tub. And I agree! Okay, off to do some more sorting and stowing.

Pink Sky by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr I shared this wonderful picture on the photo challenge and thought I would share it here. This is from New Year's Day evening. If it's pink, you know I love it. LOL! grammadee- We still have our Christmas decor up. We got it up so late, I decided to keep it up for a while. My dh loves the decor so I will let him enjoy it a little longer. It is funny... I have been looking to see how many neighbors still have their Christmas wreaths up. Most are down but there are four or five families that still do. So I think I am gonna hold out to be one of the last ones. LOL! Waving hi to you all and have a good evening!

kellyr21, my Christmas decorations are still up also. DH would like me to just take off the ornaments and add hearts and keep it through Feb. Not sure whether he really loves it as much as I do or if he just hates carrying it all downstairs! There are neighbors around me with theirs still up. I love that beautiful pink sky. Those clouds look like whipped cream! Thanks for sharing. grammadee, I just laughed out loud at your grandson's surprise that you have a swimsuit. How funny the things that go through children's minds. I love it! I hope you enjoy that hot tub. LOL. Have a great weekend with them. I'm going to bed early tonight, but will post my layout tomorrow. I was able to clear up around the scanner and find the right cords to plug in. Little by little this room with come back together.

Awww woodysbetty big hugs! That's terrible about your back injury! I hope you will still be able to practice and teach yoga! It's good to hear from you! LisaDV you crack me up! Gladly giving up driving lol. I'm ok with long distance driving if I'm alone. I'm ok being chauffeured if I'm going downtown because finding somewhere to park is crazy lol. Hope DH is feeling well enough to host this weekend and I'm so glad they made it back safe and sound! OMG kellyr21!! The Chiefs are in the Super Bowl!!!!!!! I can't even believe it!! Sometimes I feel like it hasn't really sunk in! I wasn't sure how I felt about going up against the 49ers, but I think they will hold their own. This feels like a happy, fun Super Bowl. Not being hogged by the Patriots ( no offense to any Patriots fans) Do it!! Be the last one to take the holiday decor down! This was the best week! Getting into We Create and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl! kitbop I really love your calendar! Every year I think I'm going to do one, and every year it gets shuffled to next year. nylene I remember those TV's! I've had more than one in my life, but they are long gone. I'm glad you got everything working and I hope your optimism works! I had to LOL at your planning to feel better Saturday too! I'm hoping to join in on one of the crops soon. It sounds like you all had such so much fun! I thought I would be able to pop in last night, but forgot I had errands to run after work and between snow storms. I'm so over this winter! Oh my goodness grammadee "you HAVE one?" that's so funny! A hotel with waterslides and hot tubs sounds pretty awesome to me. Especially the hot tub! Well, I need to get to work on my layout for Sketchy Saturday, or it will be a sketch with no sample lol. I hope everyone is having a great evening!

joyfulnana I am going to We Create also! I have went the last 2 years also and have enjoyed them. LisaDV My hands did alright but was sore the drive there. The next day they were a bit sore but took some Advil which made them feel better. The drive home didn’t bother me as bad for some reason. grammadee My drive was 3 1/2 hours. I had fun at the crop but wasn’t as productive as I had hoped. I used the carts they have in the hotel to get my stuff in the hotel which helped. nylene I was glad that I had went up a day early. I hate trying to travel this time of year because the weather can be so unpredictable. justjac I hope you had a Happy Birthday!! kitbop I love your layouts! woodysbetty I hope you are healing and feeling better after you surgery. kellyr21 I am glad you are feeling better! I have to return to work this Friday and I feel like my hands are more ready now. I am not sure I am ready because they started a new tele tracking program for charge nurses on the day of my surgery. I am going to be lost since they are 5 weeks into using this. I have heard that 2 nurses and an aide has quite since I left. I just hope I don’t have to have a team, charge and try to figure out this program. I had fun at the crop but did get one layout done that I had started almost 2 years ago. I worked on my bullet journal a bit and then got a few cards done per kits from Scrapbook Generation. Since Monday, I have been working on getting my scrap room in better order. My husband seems to always want to take stuff he doesn’t know what to do with into the extra bedroom or in my bonus room. I want to be able to scrap at home if I want too. It would also be nice to be able to find things!

knutschen, I never felt as productive at crops as I "should" either, for the amount of work that went into them. It's one of the reasons I don't make an effort to attend anymore - that and shyness. Even when I take scrap supplies on a trip (like when I go to relatives and it's a quiet visit, lots of quiet time) I feel like it's a bit of a waste. I really need to make just a few kits - I have a hard time not "packing up my scraproom" because I love lots of choice/supplies! Good luck on Friday! Don't let them scare you of the new tech...I'm sure you'll catch on quick. DH leaves tomorrow for a 4 day trip West. I have to get up at 4am to take him to the airport. I HATE early mornings! But at least we won't hit Toronto traffic. One of the things that's been keeping me away from scrapping this month is "Mad Men". DH and I started watching it on Netflix and got really hooked. We usually watch 1 episode/night, but sometimes it slides into 2-3 episodes!

? For kitbop and knutschen, dd started running a temp last night. (103) . I don’t get her flu shots because of her health. I called the dr. Now the 10min ride to the dr office would probably make her worse due to motion sickness even with medicine due to already being sick. The nurse said that Tamiflu really only takes a day off of the actual flu and to just keep up what I’m doing as it sounds like I’m doing everything right. Is she right about tamiflu? I thought it lessened the severity of it in general. Just trying to get clarification on tamiflu as people really tout its benefits. There isn’t a guarantee that dd has the flu anyway, but she rarely runs a temp. Even as a baby. DS was the Fever kid, frequently alternating advil and tylenol to keep him at 102 with a small cold. DD I worried if she was at 101 for a temp.

Some of my coworkers who've been given tamiflu have felt nauseated on it. But not all, some were just fine. It's supposed to shorten the length of the flu, or prevent you from getting it if you've been exposed, but I don't think it lessens symptoms. However a day less of illness isn't actually insignificant if you consider how awful the flu makes you feel. Is she achey? Chesty? (ie if you don't think it's flu, don't risk the tamiflu). But Is she prone to pneumonia? (in which case I'd lean more towards giving her the tamiflu) 103 is pretty high. And you have to start it within 48 hours of symptoms...
poor kid! Maybe this will just *poof* go away and you won't have to decide! Fingers crossed anyways.

If there is a chance for a weird reaction, she’d probably have it, especially nausea as that’s her main everyday symptom. She was almost normal temp at 3pm and so far hasn’t spiked again and even slept a bit. She doesn’t ever present like typical sicknesses. So maybe we’re back to just a cold.

DH leaves tomorrow for a 4 day trip West. I have to get up at 4am to take him to the airport. I HATE early mornings! But at least we won't hit Toronto traffic. kitbop, I hate early mornings too. That's why I hated taking DH to work every morning before daylight. They want him to work bad enough that they have arranged rides for him. That's a relief to me. joyfulnana , I love the Sketchy Saturday you posted today. I will definitely try that one. I have ordered a bunch of photos to pick up from Costco on Monday. knutschen , I love, love, love your layout. That's another technique I want to try. The cute little dog and cat in the corner are adorable. Beautiful work. LisaDV , I am sorry your DD is ill. I hope that the worst is over and the fever will stay down. I know you will take good care of her. Well, I was planning on being well by today and I am actually feeling so much better. I have done a lot of sleeping this week and have done only the things I really have to do. I have played in my scraproom when I wasn't sneezing my head off. I think I'm on the mend. I need to spend some time now getting ready for my lesson at church. I have been moved to 10 year-olds. Only one is a bit out of control, so we should have a good year once he settles down a bit. I am hoping to get caught up on the Card challenges this week, and try the sketches. Have a great weekend!

LisaDV I think kitbop answered your question. I have taken tamiflu before when I got the flu from a patient several years ago. I don't remember it making me nauseated but everyone does react differently. It sounds like your daughter seems better. I hope that has continued. I returned to work on Friday. I was so nervous about the teletracking for charge nurses that started while I was gone. It ended up not being so bad and it much easier than I remember from the class I took. On my first night back, I couldn't find my normal work shoes but wore an older pair. They don't have as good traction and I walked outside a patient room and stepped in a wet spot on the floor and fell! I landed on my left knee and left hand. I couldn't believe that happened but was so afraid since I landed on one of my hands. Actually, my hand doesn't have any more pain than I already was having. My knee is bruised and sore more from the incident! I was glad when I got home that morning, I finally found my shoes! I am off tomorrow (Monday) and plan to workout, attend a scrapbook meetup for a bit then meet a friend to do a chalk couture. I am at the coffee shop and they just reminded me they close in 5 minutes.

Happy Monday! Over the weekend, we went away for our anniversary. Tomorrow is our actual day. It will be 14 years of marriage! We had a good time at our usual hotel where we had our honeymoon. It never seems long enough before it is time to come back home. We went out to dinner on our first night and the young lady who seated us was so sweet to pay for our dessert as an anniversary gift. So kind and a lovely surprise! We mostly rested and didn't make it to the fabulous malls this time but enjoyed ourselves anyway. Last night my dh started getting sick again. He never really recovered from that flu. He had been feeling better but just coughing. So today he went to the dr. and got meds so he should be better soon. So I am spraying and keeping things extra clean so I don't get sick, nylene. Boy, this bug is no joke.! I am glad you are feeling better. knutschen- OH NO!!! I am so glad you injuries were minor but still I know you must of been scared with your left wrist still healing. Girl, be careful and glad you found your good shoes. nylene- I forgot you are a teacher at your church. I hope it all goes well with the 10 year olds. How long have you been teaching? joyfulnana nylene- Well, there are two other families with their Christmas wreaths up! LOL! So let's see if we can be the last! LOL! I did take the tree down last week but leaving the other items up maybe till the weekend. joyfulnana- CONGRATS on your Chiefs going to the SUPERBOWL! I will be watching and I hope they win. It should be a good game. Enjoy it all! LisaDV- I hope your family is feeling better. How did your dh's game day turn out? grammadee- Hope you are staying warm.

Hey Ladies. Just a quick check in. I am home safe. Got home mid afternoon today, and then went out for supper for dh's birthday, so we just got home from that. Will check in with you all tomorrow after I have had some sleep. Having trouble typing words--actually THINKING words--after an action packed weekend, so need to sleep.
Just a reminder to sign up for the February teams. There are going to be PRIZES this month! Will announce them to everyone tomorrow. When I can type...

kellyr21, Happy Anniversary!! I'm so glad you got to celebrate with a weekend away too. knutschen, arnica for your knee. It really helps with bruising and soreness. What a thing to do your first night back! I hope it's not too painful. What is chalk couture? grammadee, glad you're home safe and sound. nylene, are the 10 year olds as into crafts as your other Sunday School group? The kids are both still sick - going up and down. DD has really crappy days and semi crappy days, but after the 2nd nights temp increase, she's not ran a fever since. DS felt better on Saturday and today felt worse. He had to do some semester finals over the weekend too, poor thing. He's quite a funny boy when he knows you but is rather straight laced quiet kid if he doesn't. After he finished 6 different exams for his Spanish 2 class, he had to fill out a survey. The link didn't work for the survey. He emailed the teacher, "el linko no worko." I hadn't laughed so hard in a while. He, on the other hand, couldn't believe he did it. Definitely a sign that he wasn't thinking properly. Okay, it's almost 1am here. I just popped on to do the birthday thread and now I'm heading back to DD's room to sit beside her bed until she thinks she can go to sleep.

knutschen , oh, I cringed as I was reading. Kind of like reading a book, not wanting what is going to happen to happen. If you don't read it it won't happen. I wanted to stop reading before you fell! (hope that made some sense) I am glad you did no further damage to your hand. Hope the bruises and soreness heals quickly. kellyr21 Happy Anniversary!I'm glad you had a great time. I am sorry that this flu bug is getting to Ron. It seems like it clears and comes back several times. I am feeling so much better. I'm hoping it stays away for good. This year I am teaching 10 year olds in Primary. (Sunday class for children). The lesson went very well yesterday and I asked the "active" boy to help me put some things in order during the lesson. He did a great job and was very well behaved. There are 6 in the class. LisaDV , "el linko no worko" really had me laughing. What a crack up that boy is. I'm sorry the kids are still sick. I can't believe how much sickness there is right now. It makes the news every night when another school has to be disinfected because so many kids are sick. I hope warmer weather will help. Hugs to you as you care for sickies. grammadee , so glad you are home safely. We had another snowstorm over the weekend. I hope your roads were good. I had an interesting day yesterday. Years ago I took a cassette tape recorder home and asked my mom some questions. Those tapes got moved in our remodel and I haven't thought about them for years. That was in the 80's. For some reason they came to mind and I decided to look for them. I found them in the 2nd place I looked and borrowed a Walkman to listen to them. I spent the whole day listening and typing up mom's answers. I laughed and cried with her and felt like I had actually spent a day with my mom. She has been gone since 2008. I think I needed that. It was such a perfect day. I can't wait to send a copy to each of my sisters. I still need to proofread, and double check my manuscript with the tape, but that shouldn't take long. Have a great week, everyone.

Oh No! knutschen! I cringed too when I read about your fall! I'm glad you didn't hurt your wrist! I LOVE your layout! I'm so excited for We Create! This was my first time trying to go. I'm not very productive at crops either, and there is going to be a lot of crop time so I know I need a plan for pages that are practically done when I get there lol. kitbop I tend toward shyness when I go to crops too, and it feels like such a pain to pack everything up to not get much done. I also take a lot of "breaks" at home. I hope you're early morning went well although I wouldn't have been thrilled about that either lol. LisaDV "el linko no worko" omg! that's hilarious! I hope both the kids are feeling better and up on the upswing. This winter has been no joke with the sicknesses making the rounds. kellyr21 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! You weekend away sounds like a perfect weekend to me. I'm all about just relaxing and enjoying a break from life. I'm sorry your DH is not feeling well still. I hope he kicks that bug to the curb soon. nylene what an awesome thing to find the tapes of your mom! It sounds like it was good day for you listening to those. grammadee hope you got some rest! kellyr21 - Those brief periods of time where the everyday things can be put aside and let you just focus on each other or yourself, they fly by. Glad you had a good time and happy anniversary! Sorry your DH is coughing again - lots of these winter viruses can dwindle on forever. LisaDV, sorry your family is still fighting too. Your DD is in my thoughts! My DD was cuddled into me tight last night, feeling very anxious about her math exam today. I was very very careful to just let her feel safe and tell her the exam would be fine. Because my naggy Mom instinct was "I told you so"...I was encouraging her to study some math on the weekend and she didn't listen (she was studying. just other exams, not math.) grammadee - curious minds - what restaurants do you have up there? Do you have the typical chains or are they small family run businesses? Good selection or not? Glad you are home safely. The weather can be nasty! Ugh...I'm out of time...work...want to "chat" more but I'll have to come back later!

Good morning< Pokeys! Decided to come here first to catch up with what has been going on with you. Have a good day at work, kitbop. I hope your dd's math exam went well. Anxiety Monster is a tough one to stave off: the harder you try, the more frozen you feel. Exam week is a tough one! How is your wrist after that fall, knutschen? What an entrance back to work! Hope after that night that your shifts have been uneventful. Happy Anniversary, kellyr21! Sounds like a wonderful tradition you two have. Glad you can enjoy it whether on the go or completely relaxed. Hope your dh is feeling better. "el linko no worko!" Now THAT is the way to take on stress, LisaDV! It reminds me of when I was in high school and had a couple of guy friends who often were "in trouble" with the teacher. One day they decided to get ME on his bad side so they got me involved in passing notes in French class--the wording very much a mix of butchered French words and English verbs with -ez at the end. Then they started making the note passing more obvious, and sure enough the teacher came to MY desk and asked for the note. I was mortified, but gave him the folded paper. The very gruff teacher started reading our conversation--and burst out laughing! Who knew teachers had a sense of humour@?! What a wonderful trip down memory lane you have taken, nylene! And how wonderful that you have transcribed the conversations for your siblings. Will you scrapbook this? Is there any way someone in your family could put together a computer slideshow with the transcriptions plus photos of your mom, maybe some scrapbook pages you or others have made, with a background of some of her favourite music? I'll bet you continue to hear your mother's voice as the days go by. I would give anything to hear a recording of my mother's voice... I understand ambivalence about packing up for a crop. There is the excitement, joyfulnana, and then the work of packing and unpacking and the disappointment if you don't get "enough done", kitbop and knutschen. I am going to be packing up a few photos and tools today to take with me tomorrow to hang out at the LSS while my vehicle is getting some work done. For a one day scrapping experience, I seem to be able to leave the house with one shoulder bag and survive just fine. But when it is a weekend crop I seem to think I need half my room! Well I have to get moving. Need to empty out my car for its sleep over at the car wash tomorrow night. And pack up my computer for its overhaul, cleaning, and memory transfer (shh... don't tell her. I need her to behave for the rest of today) that will take place while my vehicle is in the shop. And pack a few scrappy things for my afternoon at the LSS and a suitcase for me for my sleepover at justjac's while the car's interior dries out. Then Friday I will drive home with my clean vehicle and my new computer. Should be fun setting up the February challenges Friday evening with a machine I have never used before. OKAY! Gotta get MOVING!!! Have a great day.

I haven't had a chance to read through yet (and might not get one soon either). We're home - got home around 1130 last night - super long day of driving, we started at 8am but towing the Uhaul trailer limited us to 55mph which is SO slow on the interstates (esp. here in the South - yesterday's drive was Virginia to Florida). Got the trailer unloaded this morning and returned and now I'm working on laundry, cleaning the house, and starting to deal with all the things (34 boxes, 4 tables, a sideboard plus all the luggage etc...) the trip back was a bit of a nightmare. We had planned to leave early Saturday and drive to VA - stay there overnight, unload DS's boxes before his hired help arrived at 8 to unload his furniture (he's in a 2nd floor walkup flat) and then leave for FL that day. Instead DH woke up sick Saturday morning - took until past noon before he's was able to manage being a passenger in the car. DS drove to VA - we got in well after 2am. DS and I got up at 645 to unload and wait for the movers. Then we took DH to urgent care as he couldn't really even walk he was so dizzy. Spent several hours there and left with meds for vertigo and instructions that if he didn't start improving within 2 hours to take him to the ER for a scan. Thankfully the meds helped. We took a rest day Monday for DH to continue improving and then drove home yesterday. I did get to meet a refupea while I was in RI - KelleeM sweetly drove over and took me out to lunch. She's super sweet and I loved meeting her.

knutschen, how’s the knee after the fall? Is the wrist still pain free too? nylene, that’s so awesome! To have a day in the memories of our loved ones would be perfect. I wish I would have done this with my dad and with DH’s uncle and aunt. kellyr21, it seems like each year the colds and flus that go around get harder and harder to get over. I hope your DH is feeling better now and that you aren’t relapsing. joyfulnana, how’s work going? Did they hire another person for the one leaving/left? kitbop, I hope your DD’s math exam turned out fine. Sounds like you did a great job handling it. As mom’s it’s sometimes quite hard to figure out the right thing to say. If your kids are like mine, it also changes between kid as to what’s appropriate or what they need to hear. grammadee, By the time I was in high school, Spanish was the only language offered. Everyone in the school, I think whether they took Spanish or not, spoke the butchered version frequently outside of class. Your teacher may have been laughing as well because you weren’t the goofy kid. It’s always fun to see the lighter side of someone who is serious. So are you getting a brand new computer? Have fun with justjac. Linda, Oh, my goodness, How scary! I am glad the meds helped. Do they know what caused it? How is your DH now?? I think it’s very sweet of KelleeM to come visit. And how awesome that you two got to meet! Nothing new to report here really. I’m not getting anything done other than child care and small chores, like I’m on only my 3rd load of laundry this week. My idea of real meals haven’t been made in a week. I am still working on cards for Valentine’s Day by working in little bits here and there. Over the course of 3 days, I glued the branding strips to a sheet of scrap paper (8x8) so I could cut it down and use a heart die shape on it. Using that sheet, I created 2 more cards yesterday. What are your weekend plans? Who's watching the superbowl? Who'll be crafting?

LisaDV - Dh's regular doctor (he saw yesterday) thinks it was related to an ear infection - apparently his eardrum is swollen? He's doing much better though - thank goodness. Cleaning house again today (didn't finish yesterday) and finishing up laundry - the last load is in the dryer. Spent two hours so far trying to get the slide scanner from mum's house to work - I think I'm going to end up buying a new one, it's just too old for my computer and I'm guessing the newer ones have better megapixels anyway. Next up is moving stuff around to fit in the furniture I brought home. This weekend? DD13 has a training weekend for her living history event - she has to be dropped off tomorrow evening and picked up Saturday afternoon (with a mandatory parent meeting at pickup). It's about 90 minutes from here and I think DH and I are just going to stayover at a hotel and find something interesting to do Saturday morning. We did that last year and discovered a neat little historical museum. Sunday will be the usual CCD and Mass and then grocery shopping and maybe jeans shopping (mine are too big, DD13's are getting too small) we both hate jeans shopping so no one is looking forward to it. No Superbowl here - we don't have TV (just Netflix and Amazon).

Linda , I'm glad to hear that you made it home despite some unexpected issues. I hope your DH recovers quickly. The overnight trip with your DH sounds like a nice get away for the two of you. I hope your DD enjoys the living history event. Hugs! as you make room and get your slide scanner working. kitbop , how did your DD's tests go? I hope she did well. LisaDV , DH will be watching the Super Bowl, but he's not a huge fan. I will hide out at the other end of the house so I can't hear it. The sound of a crowd just gives me such a headache and makes me want to scream. I may get some fun scrapping time during that time. Your branding strip art sounds like fun. Be sure to post so we can see. grammadee and justjac , I'll bet you had a great night together. How fun that you can get together and scrap, shop for scrap supplies and talk about scrapping! grammadee , I will include some photos of Mom and her siblings when I send this manuscript to my sisters. It is 14 pages, single spaced. I wish it were even longer. It has been a great experience. My sis and I figured out that we made the tape in 1978. That's before Mom's Alzheimer's started, thank heavens. joyfulnana , I was shy at crops too unless I had a friend go with me. I find I accomplish more at home and we don't really have any crops around here anymore. Echo Park does host some " mini album making crops" at Pebble in My Pocket, but I am not a big mini album maker. kellyr21 , I took my Christmas village down this morning. It always makes me sad. I love the warmth the Christmas decorations add to a home. I'll start on the tree later this afternoon and finish in the morning. The Christmas Production we attend every year has a song "I Cried the Day that I Took the Tree Down." I had to pull it up on YouTube to listen as I undecorated. It does make me a bit weepy. Well, off to finish boxing things up. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Happy Thursday! Thanks for all the anniversary love. I am glad we celebrated last weekend because my dh had been sick all week. I have worked hard to dodge the bug LisaDV! LOL! I've been spraying and wiping all week! So far I am ok. Fingers crossed. Yeah, this bug is tough but I hope the meds help my dh soon. I wish he could stay home and just sleep for a couple of days but work is work. nylene- I hope you are ok after taking your Christmas décor down. (Hugs to you) I am holding out to the weekend. I just have a few more things to take down but my dh likes it so I will wait till Sat or Sun. joyfulnana- Are you getting more excited for the game? I hope y'all win! LisaDV- I will be watching the game and cheering for joyfulnana Kansas City Chiefs. I hope it is a good game unlike last year when my L.A. Rams were in the Superbowl and lost. I hope to start working on some Valentine's cards today. I ordered a new AG die set and I am excited to try it. knutschen- Hope you are feeling better after your fall. Hang in there! linda- I hope you and your dh find some fun adventures on your trip. grammadee- Waving Hi to ya!

So happy to be here this evening! I'm hoping to get some scrapping done! DDs exams are done (so no help with studying tonight); I've talked with all my parents/-in-law, so have their issues settled/plans made; the kids are home now and there is nobody needing to be anywhere. So I have 5 glorious unresponsible hours ahead of me! nylene - how wonderful to have those tapes. I wish I had recorded my Nana. She knew family history and family stories so thoroughly, and now it's hard to cobble together the pieces. My Mom knows most of it...and I should record her...but she doesn't tell it the same way! She's very straight-laced and focuses too much on details ("now John, he was the uncle of the wife of great uncle Spencer, who would therefore be Ted's 2nd cousin twice removed..." just get on with the story Mom!) Katie's did well on exams. 99% on Science. 91% on Math (which brought her overall mark down to 94%. So, well, I won't complain!). She has never had difficulty at school. My other 2 struggled...I figure I deserve one who finds school easy Linda - glad your DH is feeling better. It's worse to get sick away from home and sudden severe symptoms like that are scary. Not like a cold where you can tough it out. And worse for you to get stuck with more of the trip responsibility! Your weekend plans sound relaxing and fun. I love exploring. We don't do it much because of budget, but as the kids get older I'm feel that extra wiggle room! We also don't have TV. Never were football fans anyways Amazon, Netflix and Disney give us plenty to watch, and DH watches hockey games online. Off to find something scrappy to start now

Here are some Christmas ideas I stumbled unto for the holidays. Every year, I struggle with trying to make our living room area more cohesive with just reds, greens and golds. So this time, I covered my coral and blue theme pictures with gold bows and poster board to look like presents on the wall. The other picture was a good way to display our many cards. I think I will do this every year now. Christmas Idea 2 by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr Christmas Idea 1 by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr
