I like to hear what everyone's ideas for Christmas gifts are and love to give and get suggestions. Post what you plan to get for your kids (and their ages) and also feel free to include gifts or toys that were big hits with your kids in past Christmases and birthdays for those who may have kids who would enjoy those presents this year.
I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in posting ideas, but there are usually many threads about gift ideas and thought it would be good to get a bit of a head start (since it is in about 2 months and it will fly by). I've got family members asking for ideas and my two boys (2.5yo and 4.5yo) aren't really giving me any . Plus we're going out of town the end of the month *kidless* and hope to do a bit of shopping then!
Oh and my Christmas shopping app is empty and I need to start filling it up
***Ideas for 4.5 year old boy*** Playmobil playset Early Reader books or Bob books Beginner lego set
My 4.5 year old got a Gears Gears Gears set for his birthday this year and it has been a huge hit with both of my kids.
I'll be back later to post more of mine!

My kids are close to yours in age, and I'm doing an easel and art supplies. I feel like I have paper in one area, play-doh and crayons in another. I need a medium-sized bin to house it all, then I'll add to it. I'll probably put in things like magic wonder modeling clay and a ream of construction paper, etc. This 100 Non-toy Gift Ideas list is making its round on my Facebook page. Lots of ideas there, too.

We have an almost 2.5 year old DS. He LOVES Thomas the Train. I got a screaming deal on some playset pieces through our local buy/sell page and he's getting those divided up for Christmas, bday, etc. It's a ton of stuff and would just overwhelm him all at once anyway! I'm going to do his stocking with Thomas stuff. Got him a wooden train whistle already. Found some Thomas socks at the $1 area at Target in Sept. Will add a few trains and I don't know what else in there. Funny enough, he loves to look at kid magazines (discovered this on a recent flight). I'm going to get him a sub to the Thomas the Train magazine. He will get books, pajamas and clothes too. Kid actually likes to open gifts with clothes inside. Lol! Last year at age 1.5 Santa brought one of those Tricycles you can push as a parent, a 3-in-one bike. He loves it and we've gotten a lot of use out of it. We do live in a milder climate than some of you, though. We were able to start using it immediately after Christmas last year. It also looked adorable in front of the tree with a big bow on it! Other things we love that make great gifts: Wooden table & chairs for him to sit at. I love a kidcraft one we have bc the chairs are sturdy enough for me to sit on with him too. fisher price Little People sets. DS particularly loves the ones involving cars. There's a garage one and a race track one that are his faves. His grandparents bought us a family zoo membership as a family gift last year and we will ask for that again. GREAT gift and we used it a lot. If your gift recipients don't have a zoo, other ideas include local children's museum passes, art centers (these often have great kid programs), waterparks, etc.

You can keep lists for each person, keep track of money spent, ect. I used it last year and it sure beat having to keep track of paper lists. My phone is always with me and it made it so much easier!

Oh, mine are 16 and 21 and I'm betting the older one will want a video game or two and the younger one will want clothes. Neither one will give me enough ideas to share with all the relatives. I miss the Playmobil and stuffed animals days!

My daughter has a birthday in November... she wants a very specific style of sweat shirt for her birthday and a north face jacket for christmas.
She asked her Dad for the sweat shirt and I bought her a north face coat because her friend borrowed and lost her winter coat.
She got a keyboard as an early birthday gift from me...but I have no idea what to get her so she has a few things to open on her birthday or what to get her for christmas. She is almost 12!

At 2.5 and 4.5 LEGOS were the only thing on my DSs list. In fact, at 12 this is the first year that his WHOLE list is not legos... we have 4 kids! so the lists are crazy!
12 year old DS -wormfactory 360 - the kid has a HUGE garden and wants a composter for it! (he also wants a rain water collection system but that will wait for his bday in the spring) -a phone .. he does not have one yet -dial-able weight set -hobbit lego sets
11 year old DD -phone -gymnastic mat -hamster (she already has 2 so this will most likely NOT come to pass)
6 year old DD -lego friends sets -repackaged (aka.. DH got a new iPhone 6+ so he no longer uses his iPad) iPad in heavy duty case for her to share with her sister.
3 year old DD -playdoh -playdoh princess sets -lego princesses -snow white princess dress

Marking my spot lol! My girls will be 13, 11 and 4 at Christmas. I have started shopping but always looking for ideas. If you download the app for brads deals I just got my oldest dd a North Face fleece with a hood for $30. It was originally $140. I also bought a kitchenaid mixer for myself with a $200 savings...it's my first! I'm excited to see what everyone else posts

I know at Music & Arts they have a lot more piano versions than violin.

These are amazing. We've given them as gifts to my heavy-gaming brothers and they rave about them. We have several sets that we use as well. They're also compatible with a PC. They constantly go on sale for under $35 on Amazon and I've found deals at Target and Microsoft for the same price. You can use multiple sets on the same console by "piggybacking" them.

My daughters haven't made official lists yet, but I already started shopping. I've been listening. I have a feeling they won't make lists for me this year. What they really want I can't give them, and that is to have their dad back.
Here's what I have so far...
all of the Marvel Disney Infinity characters that I've seen (just need two more) Ever After High doll Monster High doll phone cases PS3 controllers (for multiple player games)
I'm considering getting them all either an iTouch or a nano.
My 12yo has a birthday in December, so I picked up a few things for her already. A metal eiffel tower jewelry holder, a Paris pillow, and an eiffel tower t-shirt.
I've heard that a local archery shop is gifting them each free gear and lessons for Christmas. They will be so excited if this happens!

By plugging the first headset into the front of the Xbox and into the little hole on the bottom of the controller, then doing the same with the second controller, only instead of plugging it into the Xbox, you plug it in on the port that's attached to the wires on the first headset. The wires are really long and give you a lot of mobility, but they can also be wrapped so that they're out of your face if you sit close to the TV.

I saved up points & my 9 year old is getting Death Star lego set. He is also getting Pokémon cards & Diary of a Wimpy Kid book set.
My 14 year old is going to get my old iPhone, the City of Bones book set & a pair of soccer warm up pants.
It is easy this year with each one getting a big gift & books.

Most of my DD12's Christmas list is art supplies of all kinds. She's very artsy and loves getting new chalks, paints, markers and paper.
DS13 is much harder to buy for. He wants the new Minecraft Legos that are coming out in November. But other than that, he's not being very forthcoming with ideas. So socks and underwear it is!

Our almost 15 year old grandson wants clothes...some of them pretty expensive. Based on that, he will be getting:
The jacket and shoes he's asked for GCs to American Eagle Outfitters and GNC One game for his X-Box One Sleep pants and t-shirts A few stocking stuffers
And that is it from us.

For those of you with 2-3 yr olds who like the Gears Gears Gears, what set did you get them? There's a basic one. Is that what you bought first? The farm one also looks cute. Are they free building with them like Legos? DS is hit or miss with his Legos so I'm not sure if he'd like these or not. Let me know how your little ones play with these. Thanks! And thanks for the idea I'd never heard of these until this thread. Another reason to love the peas.

That is the set that we have. My boys build things by themselves. My 2 year old puts them on flat and my 4 year old has figured out how to build it up. Very easy to figure out and they can play with it for a long time before getting bored.
