I need a new paper trimmer and I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks! Hey 3kidsmom, I've had multiple paper trimmers over the years. I've had the Fiskars trimmer I think just about everyone had that could never cut a straight line. I've had the green Cutterpede that was a little better but still had issues. Then I purchased the Tonic guillotine which wasn't too bad. But about a couple of years ago I tried the new paper trimmer by Stampin' Up! and have never looked for another one since. I'm not saying this because I'm a Demo for SU! I can honestly say it's a high quality trimmer w/ a lot of extras other trimmers don't offer. Here's a link to it if you've never seen it. Hope my experience helps. haha!!

I am still a fan of the making memories rotary trimmer, although the last one I bought is still squeaking and annoying-- it's been the one giving me the straightest cuts. I am not sure if they make it anymore but you used to be able to find it at Michael's and use a coupon; I actually got my last one on Amazon. But I have a friend who is also a demo and I was admiring her SU trimmer the last time we cropped together. It might be the one I go to next, although I am hoping my MM one holds out for a good long while.

But I may check this one out of I have the chance. Looking to see what others have to say. I've been using the fiskars with the wire for quite a while but don't think I'm quite happy with it right now. Using too many blades. I see all kinds on ebay - there are like a thousand different paper trimmers out there. Does anyone have the Jielisi or Westcott trimmers? Any others that anyone can recommend?

I understand your concern regarding having to pay shipping for a small item but you could go ahead & order a set of replacement blades when you order the trimmer. To be honest I've only changed the blade once & that was after I made 200+ invitations for my son's school spring Gala last year. Before making the invitations I used the blade for over a year so that one blade lasted a long time.

I have had a Tonic Guillotine for about 10 years. And while I've loved it and nothing is wrong with it, I'm going to get a Cutterpillar Pro. I used one at a crop recently and just loved how it cut. So crisp and clean and it cuts quickly.

I like my Fiskars Procision trimmer. A bit pricey but with a coupon at Joann's I got it for 60.00.

I've gone through quite a few paper trimmers. I get the best cuts from my Making Memories Precision paper trimmer. It's several years old and still sharp as a tack. But I don't like that I can't stop a cut halfway through. I have to follow through with the cut from one end of the paper to the other because I can't lift the blade away and move the paper like I could with other trimmers. I could do that with my Cutterpede trimmers. I had two of them. I always had crooked cuts with those, though. I think it was discontinued so it's not an issue for anyone anymore. I read about lots of complaints about the Fiskars SureCut Deluxe. People had issues with a metal wire getting frayed. I read that the company fixed the issue so I went ahead and bought one. I used a coupon and got a great deal on it at Joann's. This is the best trimmer I've had so far. Clean, straight cuts and it's easy to use and replace blades. I think I've had it for about a year.

I still have the original Cutterpede trimmer that I bought 18 years ago and it works just fine for me, I finally replaced the blade last week.

This is why I love the Stampin' Trimmer. You can stop the blade and cut to a certain point. Love this feature when making pop up cards. I have NEVER experienced crooked cuts and use to get those all the time w/ my old Fiskars. I used to think it was something wrong with me. haha!!

Being able to lift the blade is a must for me. I bought a really good precision trimmer years ago by Dahle and I never use it because I cannot lift the blade. I was actually thinking about starting to take it to crops for those long cuts and just using my fiskars for stuff I need to lift the blade. It might save some blades.
But I think it would also be good to get a new trimmer for Christmas when I decide on one.

I have the Making Memories Paper Trimmer. Works great for me. If I need a partial cut then I use the Tim Holtz ruler and an X-acto knife.

I have the Fiskar's trimmer with the wire and really like it. I've used the same model for years, but I buy a new one every year. I think the plastic parts wear down a bit and the cuts aren't as perfect. I keep the old one as a spare and give the next oldest one away. So far, I've always had a taker.
It's precise and I can cut a thin sliver of paper if needed. I like the 6" platform and seldom have to use the arm, and I'm a 12 x12 scrapper. Extra blades are easy to find. I've only broken one wire, and that was the first use out of the box. I think it was just a defective cutter.

I should just invest in a new one every so often. Because I really do like my fiskars wire trimmer.

I had a 40% off coupon, plus another coupon for a percentage off the total amount. That's just a little over a dollar a month for something that gets a TON of use in my house.
