I’m back home... the procedure was ok. Somewhat uncomfortable.
Now to wait 4 weeks for the results... to find out if it is cancer and what happens next. Which might mean a hysterectomy.

Now I feel like this is going to really complicate any future relationships... I’ve practiced safe sex with partners but after a while when we both trust each other and have had recent STI testing have stopped using condoms. Now I know that HPV is not a standard STI test and it costs about $100-150 for testing, plus the vaccine is about that much too or more since I think it’s two rounds of vaccination? What man is going to want to go through that? The condom thing is already a struggle and fight.

It’s too late for the vaccination. You have to have it by age 26. Both the doctor and nurse today said I could still have it. They expanded the age to 45 and recommend 3 shots if getting it after the age of 15, but the effectiveness is diminished. Did they test for hpv today and a genetic breakdown of which strain?

Nope, they said testing wouldn’t be helpful since I likely already have/had it and suggested I may want to lay for testing once I’m cleared for release from the clinic, whenever that may be. And that because of my symptoms they already know that if it is HPV-caused, it’s the type at high risk for becoming cancer and testing wouldn’t change treatment options.

ashley Don't feel like shit. I'm sorry I was being to the point. I went through all this last year and the year before and the year before that. Paps every 4 months, Two colposcopys a LEEP and a cold knife cone surgery. They tested my type during my pap.So I found out I had the two strains that put me at high risk for cervical cancer. After my 2nd colposcopy in august 2018, my doc told me the only thing they have found to show some results in helping the body to fight and clear hpv was folic acid. Than at my 4 month check, post surgery, my pap came back completely clear, no more hpv. I took that EVERY SINGLE DAY. AndI still take it now. Whether that's what did it or not, I don't care it is gone. So don't feel like there's no hope, the body just takes time to get it's shit together sometimes.

I meant more like no hope for future relationships. Oh boy, blow jobs with condoms? Who’s going to go get tested and wait to deal with that. I can guarantee no one is.

Maybe StephDRebel will have some advice for you, regarding your relationship / safe sex questions. ?? I think that sort of thing is one of the subjects her company focuses on-- just a thought. (has she posted in a while? I haven't noticed.) I'm glad the procedure went okay... I think waiting for results is the hard part, actually. Please don't start thinking 'worst case' and worry too much before you know anything for sure (it's tough, I know); worrying and being anxious is bad for your health, too.

I’m more upset about my sex life being over forever and the complexities with dealing with that. It’s already impossible to find anyone who wants anything other than sex, no one is going to be interested in covering all body parts with condoms and coverings, etc. I thought I had been safe but this is a much more extensive risk than I had realized.

Oh Ashley, I am so sorry you are feeling so down. As crimsoncat05 said, don't start thinking worst case just yet.
