I have an android phone and no apple computers. I can access it thru the Patreon app or through the website no problem.

I like Janet and am part of the FB group. I'm annoyed at this but not enough so that I won't pay the $12. I just am going to my credit union to see if I can buy a gift Visa card (I get a couple a year free) so that I can load that up to the site. I hate getting pinged on my checking account for all these little transactions all the time, but I keep notifications up so I always know what's going on my account.
That being said, I am annoyed YT is changing and hope that no one else decides to go that route. I pay for YT Red and love seeing stuff ad free. But its starting to feel like I'm dribble money bits here and there all over the place and it's starting to add up. Apple storage fees, YT Red, Hulu Netflix and so it goes.
IDK, I do love scrapping along to her videos more than anyone else though. I like Victoria Marie but I'm suspcious her Paetron is inconsistent with content, she's great but seems to be a bit flakey. I counted a number of YT videos of hers where she's complaining she hasn't had time or lost her mojo or whatever. I mean, I get it, I know EYE couldn't do it to make a living off of, but if you are going to be charging people...
Is anyone a Paetron sub of Victoria Marie? Does she put up enough content that its worth it to you to sub?

I wouldn't be shocked to see a lot of people making this move because of Google dumping all of the responsibility into the laps of content creators. She posted a really long video expressing her concerns over COPPA. I honestly think this isn't a terrible middle of the road compromise. If more people said 'hey, support me for a buck a month' then I would definitely be up for it.
I still maintain what I've said in other posts that we need some sort of paid platform just for the creators in the scrapbooking (and adjacent) orbit with a profit sharing system in place.

Does she put up enough content that its worth it to you to sub? Good question. I do love Victoria Marie’s style. But I’ve seen those same comments from her about struggling to get her Patreon content up. I have also wondered how consistent she is especially because her Patreon has tiers that go up to $7. I have absolutely no problem paying $1 a month for Janet’s videos. I enjoy them so much. She has always posted frequently and it’s so little money. But if I was paying $7 and content was late or inconsistent I’d have to reconsider. That’s a paper pad or a couple of ephemera packs at TM. Maybe someone can let us know if it’s worth $5 or $7 per month.

I do agree with oh yvonne that there are so many things that fall into the "just a few dollars a month" category. I need to watch this too. That said, I signed up a few days ago and I am VERY happy to have RTS back. I like Janet's chatty style, and she really changed the way I approach my supplies and shopping. She actually motivated me to do a deep dive into my stash and organize it in a new way...that alone is worth way more than $12!

I subscribe to Victoria Marie’s Patreon account and she tries to be consistent but is not always. She fell behind in December and is making up missing content in January. She gave us a code for a free class to use this year to make up for it which I thought was very generous, It didn’t really phase me bc I can’t recall any class I purchased that did not have some sort of issue that resulted in a delay unless it was a repeat class like Shimelle’s “learn something new” that she runs in September or Cathy Zielske’s “move more” class that runs every year. None of them offered anything like a free class to make up for it.

I know myself and a bunch of other smaller channels (we chat privately about YT) are staying. The seriousness of the COPPA and FTC issue was scary ...but only because there was not a lot of information coming out at the time. Personally I think a lot of issues could be solved with that by implementing the need for an account. It is still public and available to people without accounts. But that is a whole other issue.
For me, I will worry when larger channels stop posting. And I am talking about companies like scrapbook.com and lawn fawn etc. They have teams of people handling ther social sites and have access to legal advice.
I am such a small channel that I don't see a benefit to move to Patreon. Not sure I ever will. I need the large built in audience YT provides for free video hosting.
If I had 8k subs and people demanding I continue to share, but had a moral issue with YT...I could see the benefit of leaving and taking that risk of disappointing a fair number of subscribers who do not paying for content.

Thank you for staying I know it’s just a buck or two here and there, but if a lot of the people someone follows all start charging then it really adds up. I follow a variety of people in different disciplines, card makers, trainers, cooks, dog trainers, etc. If even three of each type started charging it would really start adding up. I appreciate the free youtube content.

She's absolutely charming and has a wonderful sense of style. I'm bummed she went the Paetron route but I understand she has to make a living off this.

That's it oh yvonne you hit the nail on the head, I too like scrapping along to the sound of her chatty voice. It's almost like I'm scrapbooking with a very enthusiastic scrappy friend!! That's why I'm sad that I can't make patreon work on my smart TV as I don't have apple TV or anything like that and I don't wanna have to put her on my laptop or tablet cause it just won't be the same. But I don't wanna be without her either! I love her content and her personality. Ugh! Wish patreon would make an app that would work with smart TVs!!

I have not subscribed to anyone on Patreon yet, but there are some extraction websites out there that will allow you to download content. You can choose to download videos or sound only. I used one years ago when I worried that 2peas was going to shut down their YT channel as well as the shop to save all of the Glitter Girl videos. There is one I found that supposedly works with Patreon, but until I actually subscribe to someone, I am unable to test it out. Maybe someone out there who does subscribe to Patreon videos could give it a google and test it out. If that works, you could save videos and then watch them via a flash drive on your TV.

Patreon is a better platform for Janet, because she will feel more in control of who is watching. She (IMO) has always been nervous about sharing online.

Is she leaving YT completely for Patreon? You have more growth chance with Patreon if you do Patreon-exclusive content on top of regular content à la Inkie Quill. Your free YT content acts as a door to lead to more content behind the paywall, often offering some more intimacy, chatty stuff, questions from viewers, etc.
Whichever way she goes, good luck to her. She deserves to monetise her content creation.

I don't have Facebook so I don't know what she has said on there regarding patreon and YouTube, but she hasn't posted a video on YouTube since December 17th, so I was assuming she was just done with You Tube altogether 🤷🏼♀️ And I agree with you, it would lead more people to her if she did post on YouTube a bit, shorter videos, not as much content, kinda just to get people over to her patreon!

She deserves to monetise her content creation. I know I sound like a broken record and I am not in the group someone created to gather her viewers in a place to chat, but she had a pretty lengthy video expressing her concerns over COPPA. She said that she marked her channel as kid friendly because of the wording of the law and not wanting to get dinged a $42,000 fine (per video deemed to be in violation) that she couldn't afford to fight. If she were to continue adding new YT content, I assume it would be without the monetization because of how she marked her channel. Can't speak for anyone but myself, but it really seems like it's less about growing her following and more about continuing to share with the people who already support her without taking on the risks of fines. I actually went to her channel to see if she made any sort of announcement (beyond mentioning it as a possible option when mentioning her concerns over COPPA) about the move to Patreon and she didn't even do that. If not for the post here, I probably would have assumed she just decided to stop posting altogether.
I don't think any of my videos would have an issue, but even with my whopping 40 something subscribers and only 2 public videos, I decided it was better to be safe than sorry and turned those videos private. It is a very real risk for most content creators.

Janet put together an enormous spring themed kit and set a goal to scrap 100 pictures. She did scrap 100 pictures and then posted three videos of her sorting through what was left-which was a ton. One was for small embellishments, one was for paper, and I can’t remember what the other one was for. All three were filmed in her usual spot so they didn’t show her actually putting stuff away. It was just her process of deciding what to toss and sorting to make it easier to put away. Sorting and putting stuff away doesn’t interest me but lots of her viewers eat it up.
She has not shown her scrapbook room but says she will in the future.
