I spent all day helping my 8 year old make her bottle buddy for school. She is doing a research project on Einstein and had to turn a 2 liter bottle into him. She did 90% of it herself. Used my sewing machine, her glue gun, learned for to transfer an image by scribbling pencil on the back and tracing it (the eyes), and found my craft stash of scrabble pieces. 😂 She even mixed the paint for his skin tone! I helped with the planning and sequencing of how to get it done and using my x-acto knife and rotary cutter. Everything else is all done by her! Attachments:

So this was a very ugly, very 70s chair that I used at my scrapbook desk. My DH gave it new life this week. I wanted to brag on him. It was my vision but he did the work. He even cut out a whole new seat for it.

I just came on to read the thread and saw that lainey was gone. I looked in the member files and she is no longer in the list. I hope that she did it by accident. Maybe she was trying to change her avatar?

The colorway I used is discontinued, but they have lost of fun color combinations. And the yarn is very elastic, so the socks don't lose their shape over time.

Lainey's taken a break from here once before if I remember correctly so hopefully that's all it is and she'll come back when she's ready.

I have been running trying to catch up on things from my surgery. Starting to feel a bit better but I fell behind on SO much. Trying to get my life back in order.

Ugh. I picked up my knitting knowing I had a mistake to correct, a block of color started too early. So I unpicked the relevant rows and restarted in the right color. Then I realised that in unpicking and re-doing I had made a mistake on the pattern so I had to unpick again and re-do again. Now I've got the colors right and the pattern right it looks like I've got the stitch count wrong, despite counting every row as I did it, just to be sure. Ugh, ugh, ugh. I've had enough! I'm going to have a cup of Ovaltine and go to bed. Hope you are doing ok @patter.

I finished two of my February goals. The Union Jack quilt top is ready to be quilted as soon as I find the perfect backing for it. I also finished putting another block together for the Christmas quilt. Only two more to go then I will start the embroidery work.

Thanks gillyp. I had a good day yesterday. I always have pain but it's nothing compared to the pain prior to surgery so I will take it. I can live like this but I have to be on meds (gabopentin). I tried to go down on them but it was a "no go." Oh well! At least I am out and smiling again. And flute4peace, I am sorry but "yarn spaghetti" gave me a morning giggle. I have never heard that but it is a perfect expression! Hope today is better!

Could I ask some advice?
I picked up a crochet hook a few weeks ago. After a lot of practicing and ripping out, I made an simple scarf (single and double crochet) and it turned out really well. I didn't drop or add stitches, I was very proud of myself.
My niece is due with her first baby in a few weeks and I decided to make a baby blanket thinking it would be simple. It was, I did the entire thing in moss sitch (boring). First off, I had NO IDEA that it would take 40 hours or more. OMG. I spent a LOT of time of it this past week and finished yesterday. After I finished it and blocked it I had hoped that the blocking might help. It did mildly, but you can tell that a novice made it. As it turns out my yarn tension increased slightly as I crocheted, so the bottom of the blanket is a bit wider than the middle and top. Apparently I also picked up and dropped a stitch here and there so the sides are slightly wavy in a couple of spots.
I still need to crochet the border, but I don't expect it to improve much.
So here's my question. Do I go ahead and send it to my niece, or do I chalk it up to lesson learned and just donate it and get her something else and keep working on my crochet skills? I am a perfectionist and I hate that it is not perfect. However there is so much time in this, and it was made with love. What would you do, and please be honest. Thanks in advance!

If you should ever decide that you want to sell/trade one of your quilt tops, please let me know seriously!

I would most certainly give it to her because it was made with loads of love and I doubt anyone will look closely enough to see your errors. The baby will be cuddled up in it and all anyone will say is, What a lovely gift MichyM.
