The challenge is to make a Valentine card for a friend instead of a lover, with one or more hearts, but with a non-mushy sentiment. It does not need to say, "Happy Valentine's Day" unless you want it to. If you are part of a challenge group, add a bonus point if you use a stamp set you have never used before, or one that you have not used for more than a year. I wanted to make a Valentine card for a friend, and most Valentine cards are for sweethearts. This cutting file from the Silhouette Design Store seemed perfect for a platonic Valentine. I adapted the cutting file slightly by adding a mat, as well as the bottom heart border (the latter is also from the Silhouette Design Store). I had to pop it out with foam tape in order to use my thicker twine. The hedgehogs are from a Penny Black stamp set called Every Which Way. I bought the stamp set awhile ago but used it for the first time on this card.

scrapnnana, that is darling! I love it. I too am struggling a bit with making things more "friend" or platonic, so I will have to look for something like this!

Great challenge, scrapnnana ! What a FUN idea! That card is really cute. Love the diecut layered word and those cute little hedgehogs1 I will be making valentines with my almost 7 year old grandson on Friday, so will be able to meet this challenge then, I think. Need to go through my [way too many] unused stamps! I will link this to the Challenges board and to the 29-4-29 list of challenges. Thanks so much for doing this!

I’m working on a card with the sentiment “if friends were flowers, I’d pick you” I’m not sure if it has a heart on it anywhere though. Is that a dealbreaker? Or maybe I should add a heart! I love Palentines and Galentines.
I love that little heart banner detail on your sample card, and hedgehogs are always good for giving hedgehugs! So sweet.

Considering the sentiment you want to use, if you want to use a flower instead of a heart, I think the flower would be preferable. Go for it. If you want, you could add a tiny heart as the flower center if you think it would add and not detract.

I added some hearts to my card! The stamps are Helen Dardik x Waffle Flower “envelopers” (this artist draws characters like this in Sharpie on her outgoing mail!) I ink blended over a watercolor patterned paper for the background and the frame is cut from a piece that I did Brushos powder experiments on - all those colors are in the black Brusho pigment. I found the hearts in my jar of random hearts punched from scraps. Palentine/Galentine by jo.blackford, on Flickr

I love this! The ink blending, the powder multicolors, and the stitching are all really well done. I also like how you incorporated the tiny hearts.
Your friend will really appreciate it!

I had a lot of fun making this card... the stamp set is Papertrey's tiny treats valentine, and years ago, someone made me a card with the little fish in the set, with glitter on a transparency like this and I have wanted to recreate it for so. long. but I never wanted to spend $24 on the stamps. I bought them on clearance for $5 and I am so happy with how this turned out. I think I am going to send it to my sister.

Eddie-n-Harley, that is really cute! I love the little glittered cupcake and how it is recessed as well as centered. It really stands out.
Congrats on finding the stamp set on sale. That was a fabulous deal.

great card, Eddie-n-Harley! Love the design and the glittery effect. My dgs's cards were definitely HIS constructions , I purchased or dug out the supplies, did a few basic cuts, and he went to town. Posted a pic of him with one of them in the Photo challenge. Am working on a card for my other dgs's who will be here on Valentines' day.

scrapnnana, that is an adorable card. I love your little hedgehogs and the layered HUGS at the bottom with the hanging hearts really make this shine. You have some cute stamps. Thanks for the fun challenge. Eddie-n-Harley, that's a cute card. I love the glittered strip and the glitter on the cupcake. I have never stamped on a transparency. It's a great look. Congrats on the bargain stamp set! I am slow getting this posted. This is a Palentine to my dear friend who has hosted our Card Club for the last 10+ years. I had sealed the envelope before I took a photo of the inside. I used a "never before used stamp" that says Because You Are Awesome.

I never make Valentine's day cards so this was a good challenge for me. I'm not sure what I'll do with this one. Simple shaker card using a die from SSS and some ink blending. The sentiment is from Stampin Up. I probably should have put more sequins in the shaker windows... FYI - Koh-i-noor bristol smooth gets all kinds of warped when put though a die cut machine. Next time I want to do something like this I'll use some heavier CS.

nylene, your card is delightful. I love the donut with the heart center, the embossed background, as well as the saying.
gale w, that is a beautiful card, and I love the die you used to make multiple shaker windows. Your ink blending is lovely, too.
Thanks to everyone who joined in the challenge!
