Travel mug for hot coffee/tea

I used one called the tea traveler. You can find it on amazon.

You'd be hard pressed to find a stainless steel cup that doesn't retain some coffee odor unless you scrub it thoroughly with Barkeepers Friend often.

We like the Contigo travel cups

I have this ozark trail tumbler with this lid.

I use the tabs mentioned above to clean it every once in a while but it really doesn't need it that often. When I use it for hot liquids, I put two icecubes in and pour the hot liquid over to cool it down a tiny bit, because it will get very very hot. If I'm at work and want to make tea in it, I'll make the tea leaving a bit of room at the top, when it's done brewing I'll put some cold water in to cool it down. You may not need to do this, I actually don't really like hot drinks so I'm probably going to extremes, but I prefer my 'hot' drinks more like lukewarm.

I like the contigo travel mugs too, but I would suggest getting 2, one for coffee, one for tea, thet definitely retain scents.

The stainless ones are completely dishwasher safe. I put the colored ones in the dishwasher too, but they have peeled some. They do better on the top rack.

I also like that you can drink and lock the seal with one hand.

The Contigo ones are great for keeping your drinks hot (or cold) and are truly leakproof. However, I find them insanely hard to drink from. Very little liquid comes out and you have to squeeze the button to drink. But it’s still the best I’ve found so far. I’m interested in the MIIR or Kinto travel mugs on Amazon.

I have an old contigo from Target. It keeps stuff hot for about an hour. The insulation is shot on it but whatever, I drink my tea fast enough that it doesn't matter and I don't like it to burn my face off anyway. I love it because it's got a carabiner type handle that I can hook onto my backpack loop when it's empty. It doesn't leak when it's tipped over.

The mugs mentioned are double walled super insulated meant to keep things HOT for a long time. I don't like stuff liquid lava either. I keep the lid off until I'm ready to leave. You need an old plastic to go mug they didn't hold the heat for as long. Or a non popular brand name not known for 8 hours of great insulation.

I love my contigo. It’s tea only. I don’t drink coffee. I refuse to use any of the other travel mugs we have because they all make my tea taste like coffee. I’d recommend 2 different cups. One for coffee and one for tea,

Here is my take:

The best mug I have that does not spill - ever - is the Contigo Autoseal. It keeps the beverage hot (or cold) for a long time. It will have that lava hot in the beginning, but that is the trade off for keeping it hot longer. I tend to click the auto-seal button a few times to let the steam out and that helps cool it a bit.
This is my 'truck driving' mug. It can take a bump and fly out of my cupholder and rocket across my cab and not spill a drop. Mine is colored, and it has some scratches but I have had it for years. I had two. I think one of my kids made off with one of them. The one they took had a dent in it. I made the dent by squeezing the cup that hard when I was riding in the cab of the combine and picked up a deer in the header.
I wash in the dishwasher.  You can flip the inner part of the lid apart - and when you wash, this helps clean it better.  

Contigo 16 ounce Autoseal

I send a ton of cups out to the field and most of them return, but not all. So I am not going to spend a ton on these cups. So I get the Ozark Trail ones from Walmart. They do keep the drinks hot. They are 20 ounce though.  These do keep the drink hot for a very long time.   They also keep ice drinks cold a long time too - no flavor transfer.  I wash in the dishwasher, even though you are not supposed to.  

But I replace the regular lid with one that has a magnetic slider that makes a better seal. It isn't going to hold like the Contigo seal, but it does fine if you are not bouncing through a corn field! I order the lids on Amazon and they fit any 20 ounce tumbler, even the YETI, if you are boujee Magnetic slide tumbler lids.

I’m a Yeti girl, I have 3. It seriously keeps things hot for hours with the lid slid closed but if it’s open I find it cool enough after 15 minutes but still warm for at least 2-3 hours.

I really don’t like drinking coffee out of stainless steel.

You don’t need to keep it hot very long so it seems like just a regular travel mug from like Starbucks would work best. With the lid it keeps coffee hot for at least an hour. I feel those stainless steel ones are for when you need it to stay hot or cold for hours and hours.
