We haven't read much about stocking up on menstrual supplies or basic hygiene items like toothpaste and brushes... Thanks for the reminder! No one in our house menstruates any more... but my bladder is a little leaky. I have quite the stash of thicker panty liners! My girls think I’m going overboard, but there are three of us in this house using tampons and pads and I made a point of picking up several packages of each person’s preference. I need to pick up a few more bars of soap and laundry detergent. We Covered the cat, dog and guinea pigs at PetSmart today. I just placed an order for a case of my favorite pads through my regular monthly coop order. I buy a case about once a year as I go through a package each cycle and was down to one last unopened package. I'm amused it hit this order when there's likely to be a surge. I ordered extra granola bars too but that was because last month the kind I usually order didn't come in, so I've had to buy them at the grocery store. But the stores were out of that particular variety too, which means the supplier probably hasn't gotten them back in stock. I'm making sure I get something this month in the way of granola bars by ordering a couple of other varieties too. I'll see what I actually get next week. Other things in the monthly order I bought because they were on sale like a 50lb bag of rolled oats, a seasoned salt, and the potato patties that are the only way I can get spinach into my kids. The patties are usually cheaper for me to buy at one of the grocery stores but in this case I'll stock up since I can get them cheaper through the monthly order. 14!! 14 sheets of loo roll after a wee?? And (I think it's been the subject of a Pea discussion before) I find folding seems to make a better 'pad' of paper than scrunching Maybe British toilet paper is better than they have in the US? I use 3 squares at home for a wee. I scrunch the middle one and wind the others around the outside. At work, the stuff they provide is pathetic, but I still try not to use more than about 18" (it's not squares). I mean, you wash your hands properly afterwards, right? So even if you do get your fingers on the wiping hand wet, you just wash it off using the other hand to touch stuff. I can't believe I just typed all that out loud. Hah! And yes, toilet paper in Europe is generally stiffer and thicker then what we can get in the USA. My mom commented last time we were visiting family in Belgium that she could actually use 1 "square" for number 1! LOL They are rectangles and I need at least two in Belgium and join the others in the US who use about 8 here. I think some of us just tend to be wetter then others. And it depends on where I am in my cycle too. During menstruation I can go through a roll of TP by myself in one heavy day, and I need more TP during the ovulation phase too. Talk about not believing I typed that all out!

(CNN)An Australian newspaper has printed an extra eight pages to be used as toilet paper after coronavirus fears prompted customers to bulk buy supplies, leaving some supermarket shelves bare. In a bid to tackle the shortage, The NT News provided a practical -- if unconventional -- solution. Australians living in the Northern Territories would have noticed on Thursday that eight pages in the paper had been left bare, except for watermarks and a cut-out guide edition. "Run out of loo paper? The NT News cares," the newspaper read. "That's why we've printed an eight-page special liftout inside, complete with handy cut lines, for you to use in an emergency." The editor of NT News, Matt Williams, said in an interview with the Guardian Australia that it was "certainly not a crappy edition."
Australians are buying so much toilet paper that some supermarkets have been left with empty shelves and Kleenex has told customers not to panic. CNN saw empty shelves when visiting a supermarket in the city of Brisbane on Wednesday. ** www.cnn.com/2020/03/05/world/coronavirus-australia-toilet-paper-scli-intl/index.html

For those of you in infected areas, how much back stock of pet food are you keeping on hand? Earlier last week, before the first death in our area, I moved up my Chewy auto delivery. I now have enough cat food and litter on hand to last 6 weeks. If you were me, would you place another order (6 weeks worth), or assume this is fine?
Now that I’ve typed this out I’ve pretty much convinced myself to place another order. Sigh. I’m not hoarding a single thing. But when it comes to my two girls I want to be sure they’re not affected by any potential supply issues. Sigh again. I’m such a cat mom. 🥴

Stocking up? I bought an extra bottle of Tylenol, Advil and cough syrup. An extra pack of TP, Lysol wipes and Lysol spray. And a box of EmergenC packets.
I have a couple huge packets of powdered Gatorade mix, that if we really needed it, I could make. I think it makes 2.5 gallons.
When I go to the grocery this week, I planned on getting a couple extra boxes of cereal, macaroni, spaghetti/sauce, and peanut butter. Nothing major. Just staples that we could survive off of, if we all happen to be sick. Hopefully it won’t be a big deal. Miss Lerin would die if we actually made her eat spaghetti, LOL.

My MIL just rang to tell me that there was an ambulance parked outside her house and the medics in protective suits went into the house of the Chinese family opposite her. I'm waiting for an update. Wouldn't have thought much of it if it wasn't for the protective gear...

Will do. Hope your MIl is not too worried She's more concerned with the builders underpinning her garage at the moment and the mess they're making of her garden to be honest

joelise and wellway - no one was taken away but apparently the family have just returned from China so presumably/maybe/hopefully they're self isolating.

Vitamin D. It’s common to be deficient and it’s necessary for proper immune function.
