nicolep - this could be a good way to learn! Maybe spend the 100 days by looking up youtube tutorials and finding easy patterns to practice with! I think I'm going to! nicolep I’ve had a lot of success with Bella coco crochet on YT. Her directions are very clear. I did the basic granny square to start with. It’s very repetitive so you don’t have to think too much. She explains the pattern and how you can tell where you should be up to and then all you really need to do is count to 3 over and over.

I can't get this project off my mind. I've never participated and I would really like too. I wish so much I knew how to crochet or knit! I know that would be so relaxing and therapeutic for me. You should totally do it! hat if you do a hybrid approach? You're hybrid approach is fantastic. I think I'll use that next year. When life isn't crazy and hopefully my new house projects are a bit more completed.

I decided to start the other day. Someone I follow wanted to end hers on the 4th of July and it got me wondering what I'm waiting for. Especially since I could/should be drawing already... So I just went ahead and started the next morning. I'm drawing in the Procreate app - no other rules. I do have a goal in mind though - I want to learn the program, practice, and develop my skills enough so that I can draw my own card for the 2Pea Christmas card swap this year. I'm going to share the time lapse video every few days or whenever there's something cool to show.
(BTW and sorry, this is pretty depressing: experts are predicting that (WITH our Stay Home measures in place) Washington State's coronavirus infections will peak in late April (at approx. 30 deaths per day at the peak - which is terrible) but the death rate should be approaching zero by early July. So this 100 day project also marks the long haul for when things might be back to normal around here. I'm not sure if that makes it the project (or the isolation) feel easier or harder... )

I don't want to burst your bubble or anything, but DH thinks we'll be going through this process for a while. He thinks we'll empty the hospitals, start getting back out, and then the CV #'s will rise again. Then we'll have to shelter in place to get the hospitals empty again. This will probably have to happen until enough people are immune (herd immunity) or a vaccine is developed.

Yeah, I suspect that he is right about that./ But I'm hoping we have a bit of a break over the summer. We'll see... It is what it is, and we'll do what we need to do. (And I'm trying not to whine too much because my family is little impacted by these changes right now and I am very aware of that privilege.)

I’ve been following along video lessons the past few weeks using the app and I’m having so much fun! When I saw this thread pop up again I thought to myself my Procreate drawings could be my 100 day project. I only know basic things with handwriting but I want to work on my illustrations and animation. I’m really excited! I love the time lapse feature! It’s so fun!

The time lapse videos are so fun to watch! I got my 10yo nephew to try out the app and he just LOVED watching the videos. I watched some videos by Bardot Brush on YT that showed how to use reference images from google to learn to draw animals and people as a stepping stone to creating your own stylized illustration style. I haven’t tried that part yet but it seemed really doable.

I think I'm still going to do this project because I need some good stuff to focus on, but it's going to be hard for me with everything going on. The shelter in place/workplace restrictions have caused my new home build to come to a halt only a couple weeks before we were supposed to move. So we're scrambling to figure out financing and extend our temporary housing and trying to figure out what can be done to get our house finished (if anything). It looks like right now that they can't finish it until things go back to normal... or at least some people get back to work (namely the city officials that need to sign off on final inspections, etc.). The financial toll of this is obviously huge and the emotional one is overwhelming when I was already not in a great place. I was really counting on being in our new house... a lifelong dream of mine decades in the making... for the start of this project and now I might not be in it until after the end.
Sorry for the rant, I know people are dying and it could be worse for me, but it feels like my whole world is crashing down so it's hard to keep it in perspective. So, I'm going to continue with my plan to focus on something crafty every day. I was toying with the idea of making it somehow rainbow related every day (I love rainbows and their current symbolism makes it extremely relevant) but I think that'd be too hard, especially because I had planned to use this project to work through projects already on my to do/to complete list as opposed to entirely new things. But we'll see. Right now the plan is that for at least 15 minutes a day I'm going to focus on doing something creative and document it with a photo.
Are the current state of things making anyone else reconsider this project/change their focus?

Are the current state of things making anyone else reconsider this project/change their focus? That's a lot more unknown in your life than me, but yes! I'm having a hard time focusing. This week is supposed to be spring break; no homeschooling! I thought I could do something crafty, but it feels like too much of an effort.

lasteve1, I'm so sorry. My life is really more normal except DH is home working which means I cook a bit more lunch meals and sometimes breakfast for him and I'm cooking more baked goods - breads and desserts. Because it's comforting. And in this crazy time, I've been in no mood to do normal cleaning and household stuff, plus I have no desire to do any scrapbooking either. I'm just starting to move forward this week. I can't imagine all the craziness of life right now and having more stuff on top of it. That's a lot. Yes, as you said it could be worse you or a loved one could have COVID, but it doesn't make it less stuff to deal with. Hugs to you. I might have chosen an actual project type thing if it hadn't been for the CV. Now I'm just going to spend at least 10 minutes doing something creative. I'm giving myself a huge lee way in what that creativity is. Maybe it's the bread I'm baking now. Maybe it's a meal. Maybe I'll just splash paint around a page.

That's so hard. It's been such a long process, to be stalled right at the last moment must be so frustrating. And yeah, of course it could be worse, but it's not nothing - anything related to your home is a huge upheaval, and figuring all this out must be a huge worry. It's already a stressful time, just before you get inspections done and move. Sigh... Whatever you decide to do I hope it's helpful, something that makes you a little bit happy every day.

I think I am going to try to purge (at least) one thing every day. I’ve been crazy busy with work—even though I’m working from home, so crafting goals are too unpredictable. Tossing or donating items out of my craft room seems do-able.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-pxeKNAhQb So I'm doing this! I posted about it on my instagram and my plan, right now, is to share on stories my daily photos. I might not end up sharing them all as I go, but my goal is to create a book at the end with a photo a day of what I created (or me creating it). Anyone else sharing on instagram this year? Share your name so I can follow along!

Yesterday, I did some more art journal prep (I like to use old books as art journals so you have to glue a few pages together and gesso the pages) and even decided one will be for Bible journaling and one is going to be a "HAPPY" journal. I also picked up the hand embroidery sampler I've been working on for ages. I've been trying to learn. Actually DD wanted to learn so we bought a class. She decided she didn't really like it, but I really enjoy it a lot. If I finish that thing during the next 100 days I'll be happy.

justjac your cards are gorgeous!! I’m kinda sorta hanging in there. I missed a couple of days last week but I did a catch up last night. I’m working on something now that I’ll finish up tomorrow. Doing something creative daily is my project so it counts. The extra cards last night, not so much. Ha!

justjac, those cards are adorable!! I'm glad you are keeping up. Yay to you to christinec68. I'm suppose to be doing something creative daily. I've used meals a few times that were old family favorites and not new recipes or intricate because I just didn't have time to do something else. And this week, we're tackling the living room. In my book it doesn't count as creative, but I'm too pooped to pop at the end of the day. I still have to make dinner each night. Monday one coat of ceiling paint (lots of trim out work as we have 5 or 6 sections due to wood beams). Then went to get more paint for Tuesday's 2nd and 3rd coat. Previous owners where smokers. Today we took down the tape and paper and I finished painting 1 wall. We also started on cleaning the built-in cabinets, brick work by the fireplace and I got one beam cleaned. You have to use a solution to get the nicotine off and then rinse and dry and then polish. ugh. It's a lot of work, so maybe I'll just make my goal being productive everyday, then the living room counts. Otherwise I'll have a week left at the end to finish up. But I stink at the IG updating and such. Plus sometimes it's just a little thing I've completed. Like Sunday, I fussy cut 6 flowers, but have lots more fussy cutting for an art journal page to do. Ohh, I could work on that after working on the living room. duh. See, I told you, I'm exhausted at the end of the day.

justjac It’s so fun to see your finished cards after seeing the coloring on IG. I’ve been keeping up my drawings every evening. I think I missed two nights where I just plain forgot. Sometimes I feel like my crochet is my 100 day project - every evening I do my journal, my drawing, and my crochet so it’s easy to get confused. I haven’t been sharing my stuff very much. I do have a page that’s mostly full and mostly cute that I could share - maybe tonight I’ll get around to that. The good news is that I think I’m getting a bit better at it even though I haven’t studied any of the video tutorials I was going to watch and I haven’t installed the screen protector I bought that gives a little more “tooth” to the pencil/screen. I found a shade of pink I like for rosy cheeks and a nice brush in Procreate to make the cheek blush, so that made me happy.
