I plan to join but I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet. I started twice but only finished once.

I definitely want to join. I did it two years ago and knitted every day. Prior to the project I didn't really know how to knit, but I stuck with it and now I can definitely knit basics and have added it to my rotation of regular hobbies.
I wanted to participate last year, but had some personal stuff come up right before the start so it wasn't really feasible. This year we're going to be moving towards the beginning of the project so for me I wish it was starting in May, but I'm still going to try to join in. I'm not entirely sure yet what I want to do, but I might do something broad like "create something every day" and just take a photo of me crafting daily.

I got that email too! (and then unsubscribed!) I was planning to skip it, given all the different projects that are out there and how much I can end up feeling pressured by adding one more thing to my schedule. Especially because this one takes us all the way into summer. The 30 day projects are bad enough but 100 days is just a long time.
BUT then I almost immediately reconsidered. (face palm) I haven’t decided if I’ll use it to build on something I’m already doing, like crochet, or (more likely) if I’ll use it to extend the drawing project I did last year into digital drawing skills. I found it really bothersome but doing 100 drawings did have some interesting results. And digital drawing is something I really want to develop this year. So I guess that’s what I’ll do! I just need to figure out the exact goals and parameters.

I put the 100 Day Project of my list of 20 things I want to do in 2020. I have started it twice before and finished it once. I think I will do the project I started last year: colouring. I have alcohol markers and a good set of coloured pencils and I rarely use them.

I was thinking of making more tags for books I've read. I posted some photos on the thread started by sleepingbooty about reading. I cannot see myself making 1 a day, but working on them daily.

It starts on my wedding anniversary! How fun!
I think I'm going to do stamping. I'm not that great at it yet, so this will be a great way to learn and grow and have fun!

christinec68, I only finished the year I chose "do something creative everyday". This year we're going to be moving towards the beginning of the project so for me I wish it was starting in May, You could start in May and just continue until you reach 100 days. There were people who started at different times last year. And digital drawing is something I really want to develop this year. So I guess that’s what I’ll do! I just need to figure out the exact goals and parameters. I have some digital drawing software and was wanting to learn as well. My DD can now use it like a pro though. I think I will do the project I started last year: colouring. ?? Was hand lettering 2 years ago? Your hand lettering was amazing. I still remember your practicing. Probably because I had tried it the year before and stunk. refugeepea, I like the idea of tags for books read. I'll have to go find that thread so I can see them. kurama, happy early anniversary. Stamping would be a good one. I have to think about what to do for it. Come back and let us know what you decide.

I did two weeks worth and was able to use the images on Christmas cards.

LisaDV I did actually get a little off schedule the year I did it because I missed a couple of days and just added them on. But I really enjoy the community aspect and sharing on Instagram and cheering each other on... if I do it at a different time I probably won't stick with it! That said, I think that I can use this project as a way to make sure I'm fitting in crafty time in my busy schedule and working on the many unfinished (or not-yet-started) projects on my list! So my plan right now is to spend at least 15 minutes per day working on something crafty and then take a top down photo of my hands working on the project & write what I did. Sometimes it will be a full project (completed a scrapbook page, tried a new recipe, sewed a zipper pouch) but more often it will be progress on a larger project (worked on my cross-stitch, completed a quilt top, made progress on last year's week in the life album). There will be a lot of flexibility in what I do each day, the cohesiveness will be in how I am photographing and journaling about my projects, plus the conscious effort to make sure I do something crafty every day for 100 days. I think this is a good "compromise" where I still get to participate in the project, but I'm not really adding a "new" project and instead using this project to make progress on all my many other projects. This is also something I think I can continue while moving (and traveling, which we will do at least once during the 100 days) and will probably just have a few days of simple "progress on cross-stitch or knitting" projects. The one thing I haven't figured out yet is how I'm going to share my progress. I really want to post about it on my crafty Instagram, but I typically post 2-3 times per week (or at least that is my goal) and taking over my feed with one post per day for 100 days would prohibit me from posting anything else and really change what I share. Should I just go for it and not post anything else during that time frame? Or go for it and post multiple times per day to add in my other posts (which are typically completed scrapbook pages... rather than the "in progress" shots that will make up my 100 days project... and will also include home design posts once we get into the new house)? Or just put all of my 100 days project posts in stories and then create a highlights to show them all and leave my feed for the regular stuff? Or share once per week and include 7 photos in that post that you can swipe through? Or any other ideas? I'm super excited!

Or share once per week and include 7 photos in that post that you can swipe through? Last year I did mine in stories and just occasionally shared the better/more interesting ones on my grid, but doing a weekly summary post would work really well too, especially for the days where you just made a small amount of progress on an ongoing bigger thing. It would be fun to flick through the 7 photos each Friday and see how the little bits added up to something bigger.

I tried to do it last year and failed miserably - by that I mean I only made it to Day 3. It was my first attempt at the project and I think I went too big with my idea and ended up in over my head. I think this year I want to try again, but on a much smaller scale. Last year was going to be an art journal full of collages and writing but I think this time around I'm just going to take one photo every day and write a couple sentences about my day to go with it. It'll be interesting to see what goes on over the course of 100 days. Could be mundane and boring too, we'll see lol

This sounds fun but 100 days is a long time! I don’t share anything on Instagram anymore or any other form of social media. What I know for sure is that if you have a goal with a set timeframe, and a supportive group of people and you commit yourself, you can do anything! And that’s always a wonderful thing! I see this as a great opportunity to grow your skills in an area you want to learn/improve on. I may consider doing this because I can think of several things I’d like to practice/get better at. I’ll just have to make a decision about the social media sharing......

I’ll just have to make a decision about the social media sharing...... That’s exactly what this project is good for and why it works well for so many people. The sharing is totally optional though. You could always share here, even if it’s just a quick description of what you did each day. Or use some kind of tracking sheet and do it privately. Sharing is good for accountability but it’s a burden if you don’t naturally/habitually share every day.

Wow, day 70? I was over it looooong before that last year I think I almost quit on day 50 because I hated it by about day 30. But I kept going... somehow... I’m interested to see if it was the drawing I hated last year, or the drawing in pencil in an ugly notebook. I think I’m going to do roughly the same challenge as last year but digital this year, so we’ll see!

lasteve1, I like the idea of a weekly highlight on IG. I usually can't nap, don, so that wouldn't work for me. Loom knitting sounds like a fun project, marie. What would you be making? a blanket? kiera, it will be interesting to have a snapshot of 100 days of your life. janesays, as joblackford said, you don't have to share a photo unless you want to. You could just share here what you do each day or a weekly highlight or just check in once in a while. I don't think I ever posted every day in any of my times trying it.

Just got this email today. It's about helping you decide on your project. It's time to start announcing your projects And a few helpful recaps to get you going Lindsay Jean Thomson Hello Artists! If you missed the Q&A last weekend, you can watch last year’s here or read the FAQ here. You’ve got just shy of two weeks until the project starts on April 7th. To recap, if you’re still deciding on your project here are a few helpful places to start: Make a few lists: what you’re curious about, what you love, what you’d like to learn or skills you’d like to develop, and what you’d like to accomplish. Now you have a ton of inspiration for what your project might be. Examine your why for doing the project this year – process, play, produce, or a mix? Having a clear why will help keep you focused when the project inevitably gets boring or difficult (that’s part of the project!). Once you’ve narrowed down your project, take it on a test run to see if it’s something you’ll actually want to do every day for 100 days. A little experimenting before we start will help you see where you might want to tweak or simplify your project. Decide what “counts”. It’s up to you! Some days you’ll have more time and energy than other days, so you might have a range – what a two minute project day looks like, a 20 minute day, or a two hour day. When you’ve decided on your project, it’s time to announce it to your friends and followers. You can use this graphic or create your own. Use the hashtag #the100dayproject so other people doing the project or following along can find you, and add your own unique hashtag as well. Any questions? Post them in the comments. XO, LJT It's also on the blog. the100dayproject.substack.com/p/its-time-to-start-announcing-your?token=eyJ1c2VyX2lkIjo3NDY5Njc5LCJwb3N0X2lkIjozMzA1NTQsIl8iOiJON2s4MSIsImlhdCI6MTU4NTE1NTY5NSwiZXhwIjoxNTg1MTU5Mjk1LCJpc3MiOiJwdWItNTQ5OSIsInN1YiI6InBvc3QtcmVhY3Rpb24ifQ.0SsNOzX2hk-6Dq487w3-aF00D8195ImEDb-Pz5rFmcwIf you missed the Q&A last weekend, you can watch last year’s here or read the FAQ here. I really would love to take on a "real" project. One that I could improve a skill or learn a skill. But quite frankly, every time I've tried that, I've failed.
I am going to try to do something creative for 100 days for at least 10 minutes. That may be something in the kitchen, it may be scrapbooking, art journaling, sewing, hand embroidery, etc. It might be a home project.

nicolep good luck! I did knitting two years ago for my 100 days project and had no idea how to knit before. Now I am definitely proficient, at least in just the basic knitting. During the course of the 100 days I created a few practice swatches, a very lumpy scarf, and a blanket that came out really well! LisaDV I agree that taking on a new project to learn a new skill, etc. is really a huge commitment, but I found it to be very worth it! That said, this year I am going to focus on just being creative every day. There is so much going on right now... but in the world and in my personal life... that I know biting off more than that would set me up for failure. I think it's definitely more productive to take on a project that is realistic than the "ideal" project. However, if you are really committed to wanting to learn a new skill, what if you do a hybrid approach? Pick 10 project types... maybe a few are new skills and a few are tried and true (e.g. knitting, baking, scrapbooking, etc.) and then commit to doing each of the 10 for 10 days for a total of 100 days. Each day you can pick from your list of available tasks until you do 10 days for each one (or 25 days each for 4 activities, etc.). That way you can spend some of the days learning a new skill or working on a skill you want to get better at, but still have "easy" days when your schedule requires/you need a break?
