I’m kidding. Mostly. I’m trying to stock my pantry in case we are ordered to isolate. But I want it to be food I will actually eventually eat. And that’s semi- healthy. So not all pasta. My freezer is not huge, but I will fill it. The rest will need to be non-perishable.
So far, I have stuff to make regular chili, White chicken chili, Black been soup, spaghetti with beans, and bow tie pasta with peas.
I would love to hear other ideas if you have them!

We get our evening meals from Hello fresh every Tuesday. I haven't let myself think they would stop delivering them.

In addition to beans, we have canned tuna and salmon that can be mixed with rice, pasta, egg noodles or quinoa.
I have canned artichokes, tomatoes and tomato sauce and think I might pick up a few jars of pickled vegetables. I also have stocked up on vinegars, Asian sauces, harissa sauce, etc., because we like our food spicy.

Hams keep for a really long time, if you have fridge space. Our freezer is stocked with chicken breast, hamburger, pork, bacon and butter among other things. I also have protein drinks that don’t need to be refrigerated. I have also stocked up on yeast, flour, sugar, several kinds of rice, and cereal.
If you have pets, stock up on their food too!

Soup! I just made a yummy chicken noodle soup this evening. We used chickpea rotini instead of regular egg noodles... so the Jewish Grandmas would not approve, but it still tasted good. Get a rotisserie chicken if you don't want to buy fresh raw, pick the meat, and freeze it. Carrots, onions, and celery keep a long time and that's all that's in it.
I saw someone above mentioned ham... how about split pea soup with ham. mmmmm
Sausage and kale/spinach soup (a modified "zuppa tuscana"). You'd have to use the spinach soon if you bought fresh although you can buy both kale and spinach frozen of course.
Butternut squash soup. YUM!
Lol. I've listed our favorites, but of course there are many more. You could freeze leftovers and have that for another meal.

The food I've prepped or bought items to prep is couscous. Seriously satisfying. Loads of veg, chickpeas, chicken, couscous "grain" (it's actually wheat semolina), a little reduction with some harissa. *smacks lips*

I’m not a prepper, but I do have a pantry that’s well enough stocked for one person. I’ve just added: Beans-5 different kinds 10 cans Crushed tomatoes - 8 cans Onions 8 medium Garlic 1 new head
From these I can make several dishes with the items in my pantry- pasta, rice, quinoa, some new lentil based cous cous I haven’t tried yet.
I also have broth 6 containers
Big ole box of oatmeal for incase.
My freezer has plenty of chicken, sausage & chopmeat so I could make it 14 days if I’m able to cook for myself.
I figure these are all Shelf stable items & I can follow the ancient family formula of sautéed allium + beans + Liquid ( broth if you have it ) + grain + fat= meal - add a leafy vegetable if available, add meat if desired & available
From my frugal Irish ancestors to my nomad Slavic ancestors there are various iterations of similar dishes.

I've got a couple cottage pies in the freezer, a lasagna, a chicken pot pie, and a meatloaf. I have some pasta dishes and soup as well.

Apples will stay in cold storage for a while. Potatoes and onions will last a while in cool, dark places as well (but not with each other).
I stopped at Dollar Tree the other day and a lady in front of me bought 13 cans of mandarin oranges. (They were big cans, like 15 ounces, and she was pretty excited because she said the little cans are $2+ at the grocery store...) So stock up on some canned fruits (in water, not juice), maybe applesauce.
I also like the precooked bacon (because I'm bad at cooking regular bacon) and although my grocery store keeps my preferred brand in the refrigerated case, I think it might actually be shelf stable. And in one of the other threads, someone posted about freezing eggs.
You might also look into stocking up on the various dry mixes of things that only need water-- some of the rice and noodle side dishes only need those, and there are some muffin mixes (Pillsbury, maybe) that only need water. I usually buy those if I am buying for the food pantry, because people can't always count on having milk, butter, or oil to add to mixes. Oh, and some soup mixes.

I’m surprised that my hubby wants me to stock up. He’s usually talking me out of doing it (I had told him that after we talked about it I didn’t place my pantry order) he told me to do it!
It’s going to be tricky, I don’t want to buy a bunch of canned stuff as we normally don’t eat it (or processed food) we eat mostly veggies, fruits, meats.
So I stocked up on soups that we actually eat or use to add to things. (I think we have about 24-30 cans total for our family) I mostly make our soups.
I make sure we had back up to our back up PB&J, condiments, sauces, salt, and spices.
I have just ordered a bunch of flours (I’m new to gluten free, so I had ordered them a few weeks ago to experiment). Also rice, oats and quinoa.
Snacks, granola bars, rice crispy treats, fig bars. Also ordered a half dozen boxes of cereal. Coffee, tea, hot cocoa.
I had ordered extra TP, Kleenex and paper towels, laundry soap, fish soap, bleach last month.
I’m going this weekend to get an extra bag or two of potatoes, onions, apples, oranges. We have a cold room in our lower level for food storage, so they should keep.
I bought extra chicken to freeze last week, and we are going to get more chicken and some ground beef (we don’t usually have that on hand) to put in freezer. I have about 10 lbs of ground turkey in the freezer already. As well as lots of frozen fish.
I ordered a bunch of water to pick up at the grocery store (as well as soda for a party that I’m helping to planning for an event). I did online order to pick up so that I don’t have anyone yelling at me for taking a bunch of water!!!
I have loads of frozen fruit in the freezer, so we’re good on that.
We will probably keep grocery shopping and leaving the pantry stocked until/if we are told to stay put.
