Anyone else doing a massive clean out while at home during all the shut downs?
NO? Just me? LOL I've work hard the last two days.
I wasn't planning on pulling everything out of my cabinets and sorting it all. But I started and now Im too far into it to stop now.
So far, I have weeded down: diecuts, PL cards, metal embellishments. I've sorted and found new storage for specific theme PL cards that I don't need every month (holidays, etc). Sifted through my washi tape (did you know after some time, some of it becomes unusable?). Cleaned out my under cabinet IKEA storage. Tested all my cat eye inks and tossed the ones dried up. Moved my paints to a new (old) metal storage container that was just sitting empty.
Tomorrow, I plan on continuing - sort 6x6 pads, 12x12 paper, ribbons, and who knows what else.
I've come to realize I have been storing things that I wont use. I'm a very simple scrapper and all.the.stuff is just overwhelming. Some of the stuff hasn't been moved (or used) since I moved my scrapbook room upstairs 6 years ago. Its nuts but it feels so good to *really* think about what I am storing vs what I am really using.
So far, the only thing I have kept that I haven't been using and don't really have a plan for is the old cardboard SC PL boxes. What is everyone using them for now?
So tell me I am not alone. Tell me you are also reevaluating all the things taking up space.

I recently culled my 6x6 pads which I donate to a school and my metal embellies I rarely use any metal except for the odd paper clip or staple

You aren't alone! Something about this situation has me cleaning too, scrapbook and otherwise (my house needed it). Except I'm not home...I'm a healthcare worker and working from home is only a dream! I realized in my scrap supplies I have 3 or 4 different "systems" - each from a different 5 year phase of supplies/organization. When I moved on to a new phase of organization (like, when I got my clip-it-up; and then when I moved away from my clip-it-up) some supplies would get left behind in the old system. Since these are all very old supplies, I bit the bullet and organized them by colour. What a big job! But I'm almost done and I think I'll get more use out of stuff in there this way...it certainly wasn't being looked at any other way!

I'm not cleaning out, but I downloaded 3 months worth of pictures off of my phone, backed them up, and sent some for printing. That was a huge project.

We have a scrapbook store in our state who has a big garage sale about 4 times a year and their customers sell their unneeded things. I have been weeding out my stuff for that. The sale is scheduled for 4/2- 4/5 so I suspect it will be postponed for awhile. I plan to call today to make sure. Guess I'll keep weeding for the next sale.

I do have a friend who scrapbooks that isn't able to get new supplies often so I usually will give her first pick before I donate the rest to the school.

Yes! I was feeling massive guilt over the weekend at all the stuff I have bought lately (PL kits from Tuesday morning that I didn't really need, Basic Grey stuff I found on Ebay) that I listed a bunch of stuff on FB Marketplace and another local craft group - and most of it is gone already! Sold a Crop-in-Style paper keeper I haven't used in years (unfortunately it is full of cardstock, so that backfired), a Crop-in-Style rolling tote, and donated a huge bunch of PL cards to a woman whose kids will use them for crafts. So I feel good - but I really need to keep going, lol

Yes! I’m really purging paper I haven’t touch in 20+ years. I do only cards now and never do I ever reach for all the pattern paper I have. I let go a ton of ribbon and yarn too. Just wondering if the charities I donate to will be open to take in donations.

I feel I’m headed that way. Yesterday I did a full purge and reorganization of our pantry, fridge and freezer...and today I’m catching up on neglected laundry and organizing closets and drawers.
My craft room will probably get my attention Wednesday at this rate.

Just wondering if the charities I donate to will be open to take in donations. I was thinking about this - I doubt the school I usually donate to will be able to take it. I am debating on offering it as 'free' on FB for any parents who need it to keep their kids busy while they are out of school.

That bug bit me a several weeks ago. I got rid of 2 4" stacks of PP, old kid type foam stamps and a ton of old die cuts and stickers. I also had an original Circut with 8 cartridges was taking up needed space. It all went to a pre-school teacher who was thrilled to get it.

like mom, I need to go through all my inks, paints, texture paste etc., and see what is dried up or old. Ugh. I had to throw away two bottles of texture paste that went bad...apparently the lids were not put on correctly last time I played with them.

I may try to go through some craft supplies again. My goal is to kill the page kit I made. It’s beautiful and has tons of rainbows. It’s kind of what we need right now.
I did clean out my closet. I took all my clothes out and stuck them on my bedroom floor in piles. I got rid of at least half and now the things in my closet fit. I think with this clean mind I should try to go through scrapbook supplies again.

I started with papers, piling up favorite, like and donate After that I decided them up to background and layering ( depending how I feel I would use them) I only kept the ones I really loved and would use anything that felt less than like went to a lady that sends them to Philippine

I’m pretty much going through everything I own. It’s not like I have a lot but I just want a cleaner look and less cleaning/maintenance to deal with. I did go through some scrappy things yesterday and got rid of some paper. I also looked at my unscrapped pictures and that helped me decide what to keep and what I’d probably never use.

I go through different areas in my room at least once a month. I am good at purging but generally not all at once. I work from home, so I am not staying home anymore than usual. My husband is retired but works two part-time jobs and now that he is home full time (for the time being), I know he will drive me a little crazy. I might spend more time scrapping.

I’m not purging as much as I am organizing... then working on a layout and making a giant mess again. My current organizational system involves piles of products on every available surface. 🤦🏻♀️

I have the option to work from home. Guess which option I chose??? I’m a stamper whose room has gotten out of control. I’m not such purging as I am organizing, grouping, creating order from havoc. I gave up trying to sell unwanted stamps. Those go in the donate to charity box. I’m finding the process soothing. I set a timer for 5 minutes, and when the alarm goes off, I have the choice to leave or continue for 5 more minutes.

I bought a new kallax unit about a month ago, which sent me down a rabbit hole and now I have kallax along two walls of my room, and a whole new organizational system for almost everything lol. I have not scrapped since I picked up the first shelf, but I am loving my room and organizing everything. There has been some purging also. I think I am going to really like it once it is done.

We just moved and I went from a large cabin in the back yard to a smallish bedroom, so was forced to do a "massive clean out"! It hurt, believe me, but in the process I've rediscovered a lot of my supplies I had either forgotten about or not seen/used in years. (This is about 18 years of collecting stash!!!) But the result is that my mojo is back and, especially now that we're "self-isolating" due to the virus, I have time AND enthusiasm. It's the silver lining in a very black cloud I suppose. I've even revived my blog...after letting it die for a couple of years!

It’s not like I have other things to do these days!

I’m still WFH, so I haven’t had much time, but I do need to desperately clean out my craft and scrap stuff. Baby is coming in 2 weeks and is about to share my office/craft room. So I really need to pare down so I can move my desk to the other side of the room.
I’ve started to make a sell/giveaway pile.

I have purged a ton of unwanted colored card stock. I bought a huge Bazzill bulk order back in the heyday. 5 sheets of each color in a color range. The card stock sat in my space forever until I went through it last month keeping only the colors I would use. I also packed boxes of stickers, Prima flowers, etc... and my Cameo 2 to give it all to a family friend.
Artful Leigh Creative on YT posted a video on how she organizes her room. I loved how she uses her Kallax and her method of storing supplies. That inspired me to do the same. I had already purchased the largest Kallax and happened upon the video. I ordered the containers Artful Leigh uses and will get started on organizing my space. First, I have to paint the walls this weekend. Then I’ll be good to go!
