Just watched the Val Kilmer documentary he produced with his son and others. He has documented his life on video since childhood. Very interesting and tragic story (from the only person on the planet who’s never seen Top Gun). Have you seen Real Genius? That movie is 500x better then Top Gun! Or Top Secret? Or Willow or Tombstone? You aren't missing much by not seeing Top Gun, but if you haven't seen any of those you should. At least Tombstone and Willow. The others are just pure 80's nonsense, but that is why I love them. I need to check out the documentary. I thought Real Genius was one of the better teen comedies of the 80s. I also liked his performance in The Doors. After seeing the documentary, I am more interested in seeing Tombstone, and he had some interesting things to say about his stint as Batman.

At the recommendation of scrappintoee , we watched Welcome to Kutsher's: The Last Catskills Resort on Prime last night. (She shared a link that you can use to watch it on You-Tube if you don't have Prime.) We were introduced to the Catskills by the show Mrs. Maisel and I told DH I would have loved to vacation there back in the day. This documentary goes from the inception of Kutsher's through the end. It was a fascinating documentary and the comedian, who they showed in clips throughout, was hilarious! Make sure to watch the credits as he is telling jokes during them as well.

"Wentworth" premiers in Australia soon (or has already ?) The U.S. should have it sometime in the Fall ? I can't waaaaait !!! "Worth" is the story of the lawyer who headed the 9/11 Victim's Fund**. Have lots of tissues nearby! ( Love Micheal Keaton's Boston (baww-stan) accent. Stanley Tucci is also very good in his role as a husband who lost his wife. **After the movie, I learned that he also helped Vietnam Vets who'd suffered from Agent Orange. Also, he's helped with issues with Holocaust survivors, BP oil spill, school shootings, the recent synagogue murders, etc.

I've been so into this topic lately, so I went and re-watched just The Catskills epi from Mrs. Maisel. I LOVED the gossipy ladies at the beauty parlor! Also, Susie getting in by pretending to be a plumber, etc. And the way Susie teased Mrs. Maisel for her verrrry luxurious life (and the bathing suit contest!) There are a lot of great you-tube videos about that era in The Catskills... I am completely fascinated with that era!

I've been watching Only Murders in the Building on Hulu (starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez). It is SO good that I am mad I can't binge the whole thing. I highly recommend!

Got my 17 year old son into it too. Wish there were more episodes to watch at once. I may have to go back and re-watch. I am also watching the brand new National Geographic 9/11 documentary. Its very heavy (and very well done). I can only watch one episode at a time and I pause it multiple times. There is so much unseen footage from that day I am shocked that they have. Shocked. I had no idea.

I don't know if this programme is available outside the U.K. but if you see it advertised I would recommend it. It's called The Repair Shop. It moved from an afternoon time slot to peak time as it has proved to be very popular.
It features crafts people repairing and restoring family items. The crafts are a wide range, carpentry, porcelain repair, clocks, toys, paintings etc. The appeal is the stories and history of the items, the gentle nature of the professionals and the response of the owners to their restored item. Just gentle viewing if that's what you need.

We get it on our regular cable channels here in Canada (along with Portrait Artist and Landscape Artist of the Year) - I love seeing the items brought back to life!!

I love all the crafts people, they’re so talented and kind-hearted, but I have a real soft spot for Suzie. And the doll/teddy bear ladies are fun. There have been so many cool things they’ve restored/preserved that I would’ve loved to own but off the top of my head I particularly remember the leather sling back Les Arcs dining chair and the 20th Century wooden screen ( like this one).

Right now we're watching Clickbait and liking it so far. I've only seen two episodes. I haven't touched my phone during either, so you know it's attention-grabbing!
Also watched the first episode of Brand New Cherry Flavor, set in 90s LA and featuring a creepy cat lady that I'm strongly identifying with. Lol so far I like it.

Finished Clickbait and The White Lotus. I enjoyed the first one way more than the second.
Currently watching Love Life on HBO Max. I like it!

I did finish Love Life (HBO max) this morning and it was a true binge as I watched all 10 episodes in 2 days. I don’t think I’ve heard about this show much and season 2 is coming out in October with a whole new storyline/characters.
“Darby Carter searches for love throughout her 20s and 30s, often in all the wrong places, while the people she meets along the way leave a lasting impression.”
It was very good.

We recently watched a few movies that were recommended here. Kodachrome on Netflix and No Sudden Move on HBO Max. This one was a little hard to follow but the cast was pretty good. Don Cheadle, Benicio de Toro, Brendan Frazer, Jon Hamm and Matt Damon among others.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, if you like documentaries, I watched The Donut King on Hulu. Such an interesting story! It even featured the donut shop I grew up going to. It was a admirable and sad story at the same time.

Last night DH and I finished Guilt on Masterpiece Theater. One season of 4 episodes. It was kind of a dark comedy that got more tense as it went on.
In Edinburgh, two brothers accidentally kill a man while driving home from a wedding. After deciding to cover it up, they must dodge encroaching suspicions from the man's family and friends who suspect that his death was not a mistake.

This afternoon, I watched a movie on Netflix - The Starling with Melissa McCarthy. I really enjoyed it and would recommend. Had me in tears a couple of times, and I don't cry easily. I like her so much more as a dramatic actress.

I finished Dear John, the Betty Broderick Story on Netflix. It was definitely better than the way-overacted version w/Meredith Baxter on Lifetime. It was interesting, but I wouldn't watch it, again.

Has anyone watched Dead to Me on Netflix? What do you think? We watched Dead to Me, Seasons 1 & 2, and loved them both. 4 stars for us. Season 3 was originally scheduled for 3rd quarter 2021 but has now been postponed due to Christina Applegate’s diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

I was disappointed in her last movie snd thought it could have been so much better this I just am not sure about.
