Is there something not on the up-and-up about an odd looking duo purchasing two carts full of Sprite in plastic bottles? We kept seeing today throughout the grocery store and happened to checkout alongside them. The cashiers were looking at them very suspiciously and tight lipped.

If they where on a good sale price, some times people buy them for resale.

Apparently you add prescription strength cough syrup to Sprite and it gets you high. Sad to think people do something like this.

There has been a lot of conversation on a local message board about people using their food stamps (I know they're not called that anymore) to buy carts full of soft drinks to sell, converting their benefits to cash.
That's the only thing I've heard about soft drinks. If you can make anything nefarious out of Sprite I'm not aware.

Sprite, cough syrup and Jolly Ranchers to get high?? Yuck!! I would rather cough my head off than take cough syrup.

Wow- and I get irritated that I have to show my Drivers License to buy the behind the counter Sudafed! If that starts happening with Sprite (or any soft drink) that would be nuts!
Is nothing sacred anymore? Cough syrup, sprite, Jolly Rancers..sheesh.

Wait, what? Sprite, cough syrup and jolly ranchers gets people high?
I swear I don't know what I'd do without the peas! Where else would you get this kind of information?

That sounds like the old rumor that Coke and Aspirin would make you pregnant. How can adding Sprite to cough syrup do anything?

I would think that Sprite was on sale. I would also assume they were buying it for a function of some sort or a sports team. It's hot, stay hydrated.

I knew you guys would know! I judged them to be up to no good. The lady behind them asked if there was a party but i couldn't hear the quick reply. One woman in the group had a lovely house arrest anklet on.

That sounds like the old rumor that Coke and Aspirin would make you pregnant. How can adding Sprite to cough syrup do anything? It is very popular in the hip hop/rap community. It isn't over the counter cough syrup - it is the heavy duty codeine stuff.
What can I say, I read TMZ a lot
Sounds just gross to me!
I agree that this sounds like a food stamp scam, not for sizzup. It isn't like someone would need gallons of Sprite to make the cough syrup buzz kick in.

Ok - had to google and interesting who comes up as using Sizzurp! (Lil Wayne, Rob Kardashian) Like so many other things - taking a once innocent thing and turning it bad. Sizzurp: What You Need to Know

One woman in the group had a lovely house arrest anklet on. Not to be Judgy Jane, but what the heck is she doing at the store if she is on house arrest? Maybe I'm naive, but aren't you limited to where you can go while the anklet is on? Is the store one of them? Is buying potentially Sizzurp ingredients on the list?

If they were making that freaky drug combo, doesn't it make you wonder how any one ever came up with the combination in the first place?

They can be adjusted to just a range within the home, aka House Arrest, or you can get a radius set as to how far you can go. If I saw that, I would have thought Sizzurp party, or someone buying for resale.

I'm sure it happens but I think or would like to think that it's rare. Hoping those that qualify use the benefits to buy food.

Our local McDonald's ran out of soft drinks once and sent some employees to buy a bunch of two liters at the grocery store. Maybe it was something like that? That was my guess too, but after hearing about the ankle monitor I'm not so sure.

Maybe they are having a huge 4th of July party. Or, maybe like the man ahead of me today that had three large boxes (think banana box size) of chicken and 4 cases of Pepsi, it was cheaper to buy on sale at the grocery than it was through their supplier for a concession stand.

Good grief! I hate having to wait at the pharmacy just to buy Sudafed. Now people are using Sprite to get high. What's next??

It could have been an alcohol monitor rather than a house-arrest-tracking type monitor, but rest assured that if it was a GPS locator and she was where she was not supposed to be, her agent will find out about it when the monitor checks in.

I always wonder why people that come up with elaborate schemes don't use their skills for good. People would like them and they'd make money. But, I guess sometimes it's just for the thrill of it.
