In my town we have a bunch of women owned businesses. We have a fb msg chat where when something is coming up or someone needs something we can just msg the group. They're discussing closing for CV19 right now and one lady decided to close today. Then she got an ugly call from a group of 7 women that were upset when they came to town that "so many businesses" were closed! We're in an area that has had zero cases, but they were MUCH closer to the known cases than we are.
Darwinism my friends. The cream will rise to the top I guess.

I hope that is the case but I fear it's not.

My son's closing day on his house just got moved up. The closing company is afraid they will be closed down soon. I really hope they stay open through Monday, but it is what it is. People (including businesses) all need to do what they think is best. This is spreading quickly and people need to be proactive.

My friends husband works closely with someone waiting for his test results. Her daughter still dropped off her month old baby at their home because she wanted to get her hair done. I did talk my friend into not seeing the baby again until the results are back even though her daughter keeps asking her to help with the baby.

If you’re in an area with no virus and you want it to stay that way you will go inside and stay there. At this point, that’s the only way to thwart this thing. The longer people insist on roaming around the longer the rest of us have to stay isolated.

These anecdotes are going to kill me by making my head explode!
When did everybody become the exception to the rule? We have been social distancing since Saturday. I did go to Costco today to get my elderly neighbor's prescription.

My niece is an ICU nurse. She says it’s worse than media reports. Talk within the hospitals is very alarming. She is begging everyone to stay home.

But that’s not running around, like the ladies in the OP That family’s 4th death is rather shocking. Do they have a more virulent form? Something about their genes makes them high risk for complications in a way not previously known?

The two nurses on my street were letting their kids play together all day. I saw the kids walking side by side and both touching each other's phones. I don't even let my adult kids who live in our house see their friends/boyfriends. We are only leaving the house for one of us (me) to get groceries.
And all the spring breakers gathering on the beach and admitting they don't care when interviewed. It's frustrating that there are many of us doing all we can to stop the spread of the virus when others could care less! I could go on and on, but I will shut up! Sorry for the vent!

A couple in a county near me have tested positive. While they were sick, but before testing, they went to two restaurants, a work out place anf the grocery store. I think their names should be made public for well deserved social shaming. This is a fairly small Kansas town. I am an at risk person and didn't go around people because I have bad allergies and didn't want to stress anyone.

While stuff like this pisses me off, it's understandable when our government blew this off for WEEKS saying it was just a cold, or like the flu, a hoax.
I didn't believe that, but clearly, a lot of people did. And I think we are all going to pay for that, sadly.

Our healthcare workers are going to be infected and it is going to get worse. I pray she doesn’t get sick. She’s working so hard under the toughest conditions. She is young and healthy but I’m sure she is also exhausted.

I heard earlier about that NJ/PA family. So sad. I saw it on the news again today. They all seemed healthy and other than the mom, they weren't considered elderly. Scary stuff!

That family’s 4th death is rather shocking. Do they have a more virulent form? Something about their genes makes them high risk for complications in a way not previously known? I posted the other article on another thread the other day. The family has asked the CDC etc to investigate the deaths, there are still 19 family members in quarantine. I heard earlier about that NJ/PA family. So sad. I saw it on the news again today. They all seemed healthy and other than the mom, they weren't considered elderly. Scary stuff! The mother of course was elderly. She raised 11 kids, she was never told that the first 2 had died. The Mother and a few others are/were from the town my DS and family had moved from in 2006 and some of their friends still live there so Freehold catches my eye! And no too far from me too!

This was the original story Coronavirus claims 2nd member of N.J. family, four other members remain criticalUpdated 9:55 PM; Today 1:43 PM By Jeff Goldman | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com and Spencer Kent | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com UPDATE: Fusco family loses its third member to coronavirus Wednesday night after matriarch dies.A second person from the same New Jersey family has died after being infected with the coronavirus, the family’s attorney confirmed Wednesday. Carmine Fusco, a New York- and New Jersey-based horse racing trainer, died Wednesday morning, Roseann Paradiso Fodera, a cousin and the lawyer representing the Fusco family, confirmed to NJ Advance Media. His sister Rita-Fusco Jackson died last Friday and later tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the state’s second victim. The deaths of Fusco and Fusco-Jackson are connected to the death of John Brennan, a horse trainer who lived in Little Ferry. Brennan was the first New Jersey resident to die after testing positive for COVID-19. Fusco, 55, was one of six members of the same family hospitalized for coronavirus after they attended a family gathering. He died at St. Luke’s University Hospital-Bethlehem Campus, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Four family members remain in critical condition. Nineteen other family members, including spouses and children, have also been tested, according to Elizabeth Fusco, a sibling who is not hospitalized said Tuesday. “This has been devastating for all of us,” Elizabeth Fusco, 42, of Freehold said Tuesday before her brother died. “Our hearts are broken over losing our sister, Rita. We just need help in saving our family members with life-saving medication.” Fusco-Jackson, who died Friday, was one of 11 children, according to her sister. She was both a parishioner and a teacher in the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine confirmation program, the Freehold church said. ** www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/03/tragedy-claims-life-of-brother-sister-while-nj-family-members-remain-critical.htmlFrom the second article: The family “implores” officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health to perform an autopsy to learn more about how the virus killed Fusco-Jackson, Paradiso Fodera said.

My niece is an ICU nurse. She says it’s worse than media reports. Talk within the hospitals is very alarming. She is begging everyone to stay home. Its absolutely worse than what is being reported. I looked at my states site when it lists the counties with positive cases. I know for a fact my town (that is split between two countys) has cases that arent showing up on the official count. Makes me furious.

It seems the older fatalities are covered and the novelty that the very young for the most part are spared; yet everyone ignores those in the young/middle ages spending weeks in intensive care before they recover.

What do you you think is the responsibility of the government that was telling us it was a hoax, and going to go from 15 to zero cases? Or the fact testing wasn’t available like we were lied to that it was??

The hospital where I work is not allowing any visitors. Period. No exceptions. Staff is being instructed to reuse one mask per patient per shift while stupid entitled assholes are running around shopping while wearing masks that are needed by medical personnel. Of course all of these entitled people have an excuse about why they are special and “need” to wear a mask. To top it off, 90% aren’t even wearing their mask correctly.

My DD is in nursing school and doing their clinical training at the local hospital. She says they’re one of the few clinical programs for nursing students nationwide that haven’t been shut down already. But it’s a rural county and medically underserved, so I guess they’re thinking the students will really be needed in the coming days.
I’m torn between being really proud of her and being terrified for her.

I’m torn between being really proud of her and being terrified for her. I don't blame you. My daughter is a junior in college and a nursing major. Her clinical rotations were cancelled, and they are closing much non-medical research at the university so less people will be in buildings. They just got a multi-million dollar grant to continue studying a covid 19 vaccine, so hope they have much success. My 22 yr. old graduated last year and wants to go to PA school. So she is spending this year working as a Patient Care Technician for her health care hours so she can apply to PA school. She is on a neuro floor.
Good luck to your daughter and her classmates. I hope they all stay healthy, and thank her for what she is doing!

Last night a Facebook friend was complaining about "going to three stores and still not finding tater tots" so she had to improvise. Um...you should have improvised after you didn't find them at the first store. Or better yet, make something that you already have at home. It isn't the time to be shopping around for things that are not necessary.

A stupid meme that says that we shouldn't be alarmed at the spike in new cases because it is only there because we are testing more people, not because there are more people with it and it is a plot to downgrade Trump
I usually scroll past this person's political posts, but not this time. Damn it. Makeshift hospitals don't come about because of more tests.
