worth the bulk of his personal wealth, what does that really tell us about what is coming?
I think he's not so dumb as to think it would escape notice forever. And so that means he weighed the cost/benefit analysis given what he thinks is going to happen and did it anyway. To me, this seems more ominous than any other news we've received over the last few weeks. I was managing my anxiety well until tonight.

I heard this this am on NPR, and I was floored. (I get All things Considered in the AM because Asia).
It better go “eat the rich” as a response to the clusterf*ck the Corona virus is becoming.

Burr............ He KNEW and allowed Americans to DIE! Those public declarations of confidence were featured in a separate ProPublica report on Thursday indicating that Burr — who has access to regular intelligence briefings — sold between $580,000 and $1.6 million in stock in the weeks before the market began to collapse under the strain of coronavirus. That decision probably spared Burr severe financial pain. Progressive groups quickly called for an investigation and even demanded that Burr step down. “As Intel chairman, @senatorburr got private briefings about Coronavirus weeks ago,” said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). “Burr knew how bad it would be. He told the truth to his wealthy donors, while assuring the public that we were fine. THEN he sold off $1.6 million in stock before the fall. He needs to resign.“A spokesperson for the senator quickly rebutted the notion that anything improper had happened, noting that Burr‘s stock sale came before the market began to show signs of strain. “Senator Burr filed a financial disclosure form for personal transactions made several weeks before the U.S. and financial markets showed signs of volatility due to the growing coronavirus outbreak,“ the aide said. “As the situation continues to evolve daily, he has been deeply concerned by the steep and sudden toll this pandemic is taking on our economy. He supported Congress’ immediate efforts to provide $7.8 billion for response efforts and this week’s bipartisan bill to provide relief for American business and small families.” ** But Burr‘s backup for that was a Feb. 26 news conference in which Trump, alongside public health officials, sharply downplayed the risk of coronavirus, saying numbers in the U.S. were going “down, not up,“ and suggesting schools take precautions for a scenario that he considered unlikely to unfold. That was in sharp contrast to Burr‘s message to the North Carolina group a day later. Burr instructed attendees to reconsider traveling to Europe, a suggestion that came about two weeks before the president announced a travel ban for foreigners coming to the U.S. from most of Europe. ** "You may have to look at your employees and judge whether the trip they're making to Europe is essential or whether it can be done on video conference. Why risk it?" he asked the group. The senator also said that the virus could prompt the shuttering of schools, something that happened in his home state a couple of weeks later. “There will be, I'm sure, times that communities, probably some in North Carolina, have a transmission rate where they say, let's close schools for two weeks, everybody stay home,” he says in the recording. Burr even forecast the mobilization of the military, something that has only begun to happen in recent days on a wider scale.** LOTs more at link! www.politico.com/news/2020/03/19/senate-intel-chair-warned-of-coronavirus-disruption-in-private-137407He KNEW!!! In 2012 the Senate passed the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act by a 92-3 vote. One of the three who voted against it was Richard Burr.
I swear these Republicans are hardwired to be crooks.

I have a feeling he wasn't the only one cashing out. Would love to see everyone from FOX personalities, Cabinet members, GOP operatives and elected officials show a little transparency here.

Burr and Loeffler both need to resign. And anyone else found to have done the same thing. This pisses me off so much. Surely even the farthest of the right think this is BS.

We’re talking hundreds of thousands to millions dead.
Democratic hoax they said.
I’m sick of politics the defenders say. Its grotesque.
Ffs even Tucker Carlson is calling for his resignation.

I truly think he thought we wouldn’t notice. I mean it took several more weeks before schools were closed and we were admonished to social distance here in NC. 15 to zero and it’s going to disappear right???

I’ve seen mentions of 4 GOP plus Diane Feinstein, but no corroborating article. Has anyone seen anything?
Whoever is found to have had this insider knowledge and done this needs to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I don't even know what to say anymore. Just when I think things can't get worse, they do. And the worst of all is that I doubt anything will be done about it. It will be swept under the rug, called no big deal. They should all resign and go to jail but they won't.

I am sure that Trump ( and Kushner and the rest of the kids, and Munuchin, and Ross, and Kudlow, and the rest of the Cabinet) all have spent a lot of time selling, and trading stocks over the past 30 days.

Dianne Feinstein is in with them. She needs to go down as well. It’s reprehensible behavior. I'll stipulate that if she is indeed "in with them," she needs to resign as well. No question. What I'm reading, though, is that she and her husband sold a stock at its lowest value - a stock that has since risen in value since it's medical-related. If this is insider trading, they seem to be pretty bad at it. ETA: Here's an article that I wouldn't call hard news, but more of a summary of what "people are saying" about all this. Take for what it's worth. www.bizpacreview.com/2020/03/20/dianne-feinstein-3-more-senators-accused-of-dumping-major-holdings-before-stock-market-plunge-899304

Agreed, however the dates are telling for all of them... Selling low doesn't mean they lost dollars, IF they bought when it was very low/new offering.

But I will say that at the very least, I want her investigated. If she’s not guilty? Great. But the timing is suspect and I think that warrants some digging.
