The Senate will recess after the Stimulus vote until April 20. They were scheduled for Easter break April 6-17.
Apparently, the Senate qualifies as a non-essential service.

It's absurd they haven't figured out a way to conduct business remotely by now.

I don't want them to work remotely. I want them in DC and accountable. I don't want to have to be more concerned with how much time Senator A is spending with the Lobbyists, and taking a junkit with Big Business. I hardly expect these Senators to be accountable to do their jobs remotely, when it is such a challenge for them to do their job as it is.

Well, since so far it's only Republican senators who have had to quarantine, I expect they're worried about what the Democrats might do with that temporary majority.

If they’d figured out a remote option - and seriously, it’s not that hard 🙄 - they wouldn’t even be risking their majority. Dinosaurs, (almost) all of ‘em.

Wait, so what we would rather is they all travel from DC back to their home states potentially exposing people or being exposed themselves

And every fucking one of them will get a paycheck, keep their health benefits, and not have any worry of their health insurance, where their meals come from...

It's absurd they haven't figured out a way to conduct business remotely by now. A whole bunch of them don't seem to understand how the female reproductive system works-- what makes you think they can figure out telecommuting?

The entire country figured out how to conduct all manner of important business remotely. So can they. We're in the biggest national crisis of my lifetime.

I don't mind not allowing remote voting in most cases. Here, couldn't they set up webcams?
And the government SHOULD be there to keep dumb ass in check, but if the recess then he gets to use executive orders and claim it is because Congress isnt in Session. Then they don't get blamed for it.
I would not be unhappy if they came down with Covid because they traveled. If the shelter in place in DC, then they are doing the right thing.

Oh yes please, leave Washington DC now in the middle of the biggest crisis our country has faced since 9/11. If all those Dr's, nurses and essential personnel like grocery store workers can put their lives at risk everyday and go to work, your fucking asses can stay put where you are needed by this country right now. Who knows what might happen and we might need a vote or something! Don't leave that Orange fucking idiot alone up to his own devices!!
