It is good news- a few days ago I had real concerns 😐 It was concerning as you never know how it's going to go.Things can go from bad to worse in a very short time. I've just heard of someone my sister knows who was getting on really well, they'd had it for over a week, not well but not serious either but from being " not well" with it at lunchtime, eating her lunch then a couple of hours later she became so breathless and died about 30 min later. She was 61 and as far as my sister knows was in good health. I don't personally know them but my sister knows the family quite well. It's quite frightening really when you think how quickly it can turn.

This BBC article links the video he posted to Twitter to say thank you to the NHS. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52262012I can't imagine being unchanged as a result of such a close call with death.

His and Carrie’s words sound very heartfelt. I’m glad he’s been discharged.

Those were my thoughts too.

I’m bemused he can go to chequers ‘to revuoerate’ when the Scottish minister lost her job for visiting her second home and another Tory mp is under fire for the same thing.

The Chief Medical Officer for Scotland twice visited her holiday home, once with her husband, once with her family, in direct contradiction of her own instructions. She was the face of the government advertising and her position became untenable.
I don't have a problem with Boris being sent to Chequers. I don't see how he would have much chance of recuperating in No.10, which is primarily his place of work, without being disturbed or wanting to take part in day to day business. It's not as if he's slunk off to Chequers, for a jolly weekend imho.

It is good news- a few days ago I had real concerns 😐 Yes...when I went to work last week for a training day even the doctors were saying that they thought this was it - good that it wasn't. I saw his video on twitter and I admit I was surprised how well he looked, and he didn't seem particularity short of breath either. It now seems like a lot of it was just precautionary after all which is good for everyone concerned...especially his various wives and 5, 6, 7 or 8 children

He went straight from the hospital to Chequers. It's not as if he's flitting between Downing Street and Chequers for a week-end jaunt. Were you expecting him to go straight back to work? After all Downing Street is his office/work place. Not the best place with all those people working there to recuperate after being so seriously ill is it? If you're referring to Jennrick who drove 40 miles to drop some shopping and medication to his elderly parents then he did nothing wrong according to government guidelines -" you should not visit anyone who lives outside your own home, including elderly relatives, but you are allowed to leave your house to help them, for example by dropping shopping or medication at their door". He didn't go in and was photographed for standing on the lawn outside their house.

In fairness to uksue , I see where she is coming from as I too wondered if this would be picked up by the press. By the strict interpretation of the rules, which others have to abide by, it looks like he and his fiancée have contravened them. I completely understand why, and I also really don’t have a problem with the PM being cut a bit of slack as he is the PM after all, but by all accounts, he was driven from hospital to No 10 to make his video. This isn’t his home and work place, just his work place. He and Carrie live at No11 not No 10. She was picked up in the car from wherever she has been living (not No 11 - possibly Chequers; I don’t think this is known for sure), he got picked up from the hospital (or maybe he got picked up first - doesn’t matter), he went Into No 10 to record the video (did she wait in the car) then they both went on to Chequers. When he is ready to work again, he (and presumably Carrie) may return to No 11. The to-ing and fro-ing to Chequers would be deemed unnecessary journeys if we did them. There will be other folk who will leave hospital after getting over the virus and would perhaps like to go to their holiday home with their family to recuperate, and get away from their regular home (they possibly work from there too), but aren’t allowed to due to the rules. Which I agree with. But I don’t think Boris is following them. The only way it isn’t breaking the rules, I think, is if Boris intends to stay at Chequers until the end of lockdown and that may well be the case.
