When we have had “CARDtober” the last two years, card makers had all of October plus a few days to get all the card challenges done. Those who completed all 31 cards got a 50 point bonus. It was quite an effort, so the bonus helped some have the incentive to do all 31 challenges.
Last October, I thought we were having less participation, but by the end of the month, more had joined in.
The Tuesday Card challenges seem like there is dwindling interest and participation.
I wondered if it might help to extend the time. While life is quieter for some of us, it is more difficult for some, especially the moms who are having to teach their kids at the same time that they are working from home.
Perhaps we could extend the Tuesday Card Challenges by a week or even to the end of the month? We could add a few extra points for those doing all of them, maybe 5 points?
I’m not sure if it will get more card makers to participate or not, but it might. What do you think?

Hm. I didn't realize there were any points linked (beyond the fact that if you're playing on a team, you can claim it according to the whatever the rules are for the month). But I also didn't realize that there was any deadline for completing them (again, beyond the end of the month for teams). I just thought we were posting a new challenge on Tuesdays so that we had challenges available. So, I mean, I don't know if bonus points will work or not but if I'm supposed to be putting points info into my post, I need someone to please let me know that.

The only points we have been counting are for the monthly TEAM members.
They each earn a point for taking on any of the Tuesday card challenges before the end of this month.
And any cardmaker can take on any Tuesday card challenge at any time. No deadline on them at all. So if you have some crafting time and are looking for ideas, you can take on any of them or all of them. Just asking that if you DO, that you link your creation to the original challenge thread. Please also tag the OP of the challenge so she can come back and see your work.

I appreciate your response. It just seemed that once the next Tuesday challenge was posted, no one came back to look at the previous one, including the host, so I assumed it was done when the week was done. I’m guessing that part of the problem is that I don’t know how to tag someone. I feel stupid asking this, but what am I overlooking?

I’m guessing that part of the problem is that I don’t know how to tag someone. I feel stupid asking this, but what am I overlooking? I know when I host I try to keep up with responses by bookmarking the thread but sometimes I stop getting notifications on it after a while... not sure why... I try to check back from time to time. But as to tagging - if you hover over the person’s name on the left that you want to tag you’ll see a little linky pop up thingy that shows their actual name (sometimes it’s the same like for you scrapnnana and me too, but some people have changed their names over the years and so their tagging names are different). When you want to mention them you can just type the @ symbol and that name in the text and it will convert into a link that notifies them when you post your reply. Another way you can tag someone and be certain you don’t get a typo is to make sure you’re in the full reply window (if you’re in quick reply you’ll see a “reply” button in the blue bar top right which will take you to the proper reply window with all the icons) and one of those icons is a person with an @ symbol behind them (6th from the right). It will pull up a window where you can start typing a person’s name like “gram” and all the people whose names start with gram will pop up there so you can chose the right one. That will enter the same little tag into your text. Hope that makes sense!

I’m guessing that part of the problem is that I don’t know how to tag someone. I feel stupid asking this, but what am I overlooking? I don't think you're necessarily overlooking anything. For the last one that I hosted, I hosted on March 17... that was the week that everything fell apart in my state, so I'm gonna plead special circumstances on that one. (Also, when I did check, I think there was only one project posted, although I think there may be at least one more now.) I'm also frequently guilty of out-of-sight, out-of-mind. The card sub-board topics aren't often the most recent one on the homepage, so while I read NSBR a lot, I sometimes forget to go scope out the actual craft section of the board. This is especially true if my brain is coasting on autopilot after work. (So now that Jo's given you instructions, feel free to tag me to get my attention any time.)

I'm still planning to do most, if not all, of the challenges. I've just been lazy and have no mojo lately. And my shoulder is killing me, probably from too much stamping while indexing my stamps.

I try to go back and check on my posted challenges, but sometimes people post their completed cards on the monthly challenge board and I usually don't check it there.

I have linked the card challenges to the op in the stickied sign up thread here and to the Master Challenge list on the Challenges board, so people can find these challenges when they are looking for ideas. Like gale w I hope to come back to these when I am card making. Didn’t include the challenge topic though in my links. Right now I am looking for inspiration on stamping on patterned paper. Didn’t someone post a challenge on THAT?

Right now I am looking for inspiration on stamping on patterned paper. I know-I want to come back to that too! It took me a bit to get the hang of it, but once I embossed, I ended up REALLY liking the results.
