Ugh they look exactly as I imagined. This is just the same as judging someone because the color of their skin is dark. No...just no. As a great man once said...Judge a man by the content of his character not by the color of his skin. What these men did is absolutely reprehensible and absolutely illegal. The common man in the street should never be allowed to be judge and jury. But saying that these men "look" like what someone "thought" is exactly the same as saying that a black man looks like a criminal. Which we know is not the truth. A criminal is a criminal regardless of the color of his skin. White or black has nothing to do with the criminality of it. This makes it look as if *I* said that when in actuality, you quoted someone else's statement from my rebuttal to it. Can you edit your post, please? I would prefer for it not to look to anyone as if I said that. Bakari was my husband’s student when we were in SC. He was just the nicest person. I don't know him well at all, but met him several times at political events around the state. He's definitely been a rising star and I like his take on most things.

There's not 'a look'? I don't know about that. It has nothing to do with color and EVERYTHING to do w/bulging rage. They look just like their hero The lovely person on the left is from: http://instagram.com/p/B_1rokslMTE

This whole situation is appalling on so many levels. My heart aches for the injustice.
I believe that the person that filmed the shooting is culpable also. I believe he aided in "funneling" Ahmaud toward the father/ son duo; trapping him. I don't believe he just happened to be filming. I would like to hope I am wrong, but I don't think so. If you watch the video you see Admaud trying to run out of their way, but they "hunt" him down. This was not something that just happened, it was a planned ambush!
As someone else stated the DA Jackie Johnson needs to be disbarred. I agree! In addition the entire local police force need to be stood down, pending an investigation, by an OUTSIDE authority. The whole department needs a "cleaning out". Anybody that had knowledge of this and remained silent needs to be out also.

So, if you're on a new building site looking around, I guess that's grounds to be murdered.
CALL LAW ENFORCEMENT. YOU DO NOT GET TO PLAY LE, JUDGE & JURY.

Thank you for reminding me of the danger of stereotyping. I know plenty of racists, I’m sad to say, and know well that they come in many different guises. I read the story, and then saw the mugshot, and yes, based in my own acquaintances, they did look like the kind of guys who would grab guns, jump in a pick up, and think they were going to be heroes with their vigilantism. I also think I was reacting to something in the expressions in their faces. I did not mean to be hateful. And I appreciate the reminder that’s not everybody in the South is racist. Because it is the racists, and their deplorable,( word chosen purposefully ) actions who are the ones I end up hearing about in the news. You know, I thought precisely the same thing that you wrote on your other post: that they looked exactly like I expected them to look. The only reason I didn't write it before you is because I'd already used that line in reference to the clowns on the steps of the government building, brandishing their AK47s. But yes, there really is a danger in stereotyping racists, because we run the risk of missing the "normal" looking ones right under our noses. This was a really ironic twist in the thread for me. I remember being incredibly angered by it and wanting to lose my shit. For the record those men do look like racist pieces of shit. I would immediately clock them as men to be suspicious of. Difference between me and them is I can’t go around shooting people because they strike me as dangerous. They can and do. “We run the risk” Whose is really at risk? What risk do unsuspecting racists pose? How do we mitigate those risks? What actionable thing could you do today that can be described as anti-racist? Remember in June-July when not hating Black people was “in” well what happened? Who has to die in order to get the anti-racist ball rolling again?
