‘Star Student’ ‘I Love School’ .... how about supplies for the average or underachiever? Also when I was making a baby album they always had buggies but no strollers like I used. And Grandpa and Grandma who are modern, not vintage?

Lots of the things mentioned here - best day ever and other basically meaningless sayings, not much variety overall in what's available, embellishments with random things like zebras and donuts. I need to use my Cameo and stamps more!

I haven't read through it all, but I only have one thing to say that really gets under my skin. I mean, I could elaborate, but I'm pretty sure most people here already know what I mean (and maybe even have different things within this that doesn't bother me but does bother them).

I guess I should add as something I'm trying to accept, as much as I don't want to: the overuse of pink

IDK... There are so many collections that just look like each other... and they're so generic--yet not generic enough, IYKWIM. Kind of like everyone was saying, quit saying "best day ever" and sh**. Branch out, try something new.
OH-and with a daughter that loves purple and aqua--let's get some more purple up in here!!!
Someone mentioned concert tees--wouldn't that be a cool design theme for a line? Like cutaparts can still can have scrapbooky or teenagery sayings maybe, but with a concert tee design?

Die cut packs that don’t show the image of the contents on the back.
I want separate packs of all die cut words.
Adhesive that is crap. I’m looking at you, American Crafts.
Close to my Heart catalogs that feature unrealistic staged model photos on the scrapbook pages with fluff journaling and uninteresting titles that say nothing. Be real or go home. I usually like their stamps but their designs of pages just fall flat for me. There’s no polish. There are no really outstanding designers who actually are passionate about scrapbooking. And 4 different catalogs a year is just annoying. I’ve talked to more than a few of their consultants who had no idea that Stacy Julian had a scrapbooking career before she started working for Close to my Heart.
I miss Bazzill.

And she doesn't dress like an old fuddy duddy!

Too much vintage.
Too much pastel colors.
Too many of the same word or thing. If one company has it, the rest follow. (Grow, blessed, dream,etc..), (owl, single chair, butterfly, etc..)
Not enough variety of theme based products.
Not enough single words(me, I, myself). Too much we, us, our.
I like stickers to be a bit bigger in size (at least a couple inches). Tiny little stickers (an inch or less) end up looking like sticker sneeze.

Adding.....there's not enough living life kind of product.
Grocery shopping. Laundry. Dinner with friends Out for ice cream. Going for a walk. Movie night. Making cookies. Home sick with a cold. Car wash. At the School for ball game, choir performance, Theater performance. Picnic Day at the park. At the mall. One of those days! Raiding the chocolate stash.
Although some of these things, we cannot currently do. I wish there were more products geared towards what I/we do in our everyday life.

Never fear, there’s a stamp set in their current line up called Shine Bright.

Too much pink. So many kits/releases look so neat except for the mandatory pink. Too many florals. I also agree with several previous posters like BSnyder about gender/kid stereotyping. That has driven me insane for years and seems to be worse lately. I was a girl who loved sports in high school and college. Even now, I enjoy going to sporting events. My dh was in band and fencing in high school and went back to college after we were married with kids. He enjoys music and history. My oldest is into theater and dancing, my middle is into video games, skateboarding, and Harry Potter, and my youngest is into swimming, gymnastics, and video games. None are typical scrapbook themes or lines. Having general color/style themes would be awesome. Others have mentioned Basic Gray, but also Chatterbox and SEI were faves of mine. They were colors and patterns that could be used in lots of different ways. I do love my Cocoa Daisy Kits that are all inclusive and fit most of my ideas. Every once in a while, I use additional supplies to augment my Cocoa Daisy. Cocoa Daisy TN is my primary scrapping style these days. The album size and the full kits make it easy to scrap a Travel Notebook size memory book. I also love My ScrapRoom kits. She gives me enough of a taste of the upcoming trendy stuff without me having to buy the entire collection. Last month was a few sheets and embellishments of the board game kit that was perfect. I was so excited with the paper and embellishments I received and didn’t feel like anything was missing. This month was several summer samples that was enough for a page or two. I’m really enjoying the ScrapRoom sample kits. Four kits that each make two page layouts is perfect. The additional coordinating card stock is perfect bonus. I feel like I get a good sample of new items without having to purchase full kits. My ScrapRoom kits are exciting each month and do not disappoint.

My biggest pet peeve is adhesive that doesn’t adhere. Drives me insane. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I’d say there was an underhanded agreement between companies to keep it that way.

I need STEM stuff: I would love to see mathematical equations and chemistry hexagons and chains. Enough with the pink and I say this as a mom to 2 daughters. More aqua, teal, and turqouise colors. And this thread reminds me of how much I miss Basic Grey (sigh).

artbabe I love this topic. The stupid phrases that don't apply to us in the real world. One or two is cute. Two hundred makes me wonder what kind of lives these scrapbook stars lead, lol. I am not being crabby. "Hello Sunshine" is cute but not all the time. "I am hustling" You are? How are you hustling? I do say "Best Day Ever" to my dog. I don't say it in an adult context but dog talk, lol. "Best Day Ever" with a dog icon would fit my life, ROFL! I am a pink girl. I love pink. I also love all colors especially jewel tones. I am an adult that likes classy lines that are not vintage. I am sorry I don't live in the Victorian Era. For you ladies that have the glut of Victorian vintage I am honestly really happy for you. I would like something that is not Victorian. What is it with this industry and one size better fit all or else! ROFL! More ephemera in ephemera packages and less words. Better yet one package that has ephemera & the other has words. Stop with the stereotypical lines! How many years have we been yelling about this? Crickets, just crickets for over twenty years. I agree about glue bottles that clog up. They are the new trendy glues that everyone is using. No, I don't think they are using them because the bottles are clogged up! I love all the innovative ideas that we come up with to keep the glues from clogging. Here's an innovative idea that we stop coming up with ideas and the companies give us bottles that don't clog, ROFL! Stop repeating lines. I love Echo Park/Carta Bella. C'mon Echo Park Spring Market & Farm House Market look the same. I admit I bought both the collections, lol. I actually bought Farm House Market to add pieces to Spring Market. kelaur I don't drive and I buy flowers so I am the rare one that actually has flowers in her bike basket. I agree we don't need so many flower bicycles.

Yes, this too! It's one of the reasons I end up using my Cameo each and every time I scrap. It seems I'm on the Silhouette store site all the time looking for something weird, like (recently) an Adirondack chair, or swans ( why are there thousands of flamingos but no swans??, LOL). I do this to. I need all the unique things like unique chairs or swans. I love flamingo's but I want other birds to like swans. I am the rare one that actually documents birds. I think it's a shame because a lot of bird watchers are documenting birds. I think that would be a huge seller is bird collections.
I collect coloring books so I can get weird images. I won't get rid of my Cricut so I can have things like Art Noveau ladies or French chairs.
I also keep a gardening journal & I like to document flowers. It is actually hard to find realistic flowers. I also document plants and those are hard to find to. I was so excited about the succulent craze. I screamed "Finally!" ROFL.

Couldn't you turn them on their sides? Bad choice of example on my part. Sometimes that works.
It still bothers me when a paper isn't a true 12x12. It's probably my greatest scrapbooking peeve. Everything else I can really work around or deal with. I stopped buying FPD because of it.
It bothers me a bit that ink sprays get clogged so easily. They're a pain to clean and sometimes I can't get it unclogged.
That they sell the latest and greatest thing that I buy and then a year or years later, the product has issues (yellows, fades, their adhesive doesn't work anymore (this only bothers me when it's already on my scrapbook page), it gets brittle and breaks, etc.).
Oh, and I know so many of y'all don't like the pink, but I really, really do. Sorry.

I rarely scrapbook anymore, but I do make cards and other things, so here’s mine: The lack of hockey items. My dgs has played hockey since he was 5 (he’s now 13) and I’m still struggling to find hockey anything. If I can find anything there is 1 hockey element among 2 dzn other sports items And for Pete’s sake why is it mostly goaltenders? His other sport Baseball is almost as hard to find. I usually resort to digital images or cutting SVGs. I agree about the lack of hockey supplies.

This is a great thread!
ITA about the gender stereotypes. Can people just be people, please?
School lines: Stop with the Star Student bs. Seriously. Add words that we can make work. "Show" "project" "parade" "performance" "artwork"
Also, stop with the chalkboard and one room school houses with bell tower shtick. How about some distance learning themes? Tablets, laptops, chromebooks. Or anything remotely modern learning.
Pink doesn't have to be included in everything.
More vowels please.
Why make stickers that don't stick?

The lack of hockey items. Baseball is almost as hard to find Now it's been a minute since I was looking for these 2 sports in particular, but right now I have at least 5 if not more different hockey papers, and baseball - I scrapped 5 big fat 12x12 albums of baseball and I still had trouble using it all up. The big problem with sports lines in general is the same as with school lines - Home run, Goal, Super Star, All Star, etc - my kid was usually not the one who did the scoring. I would switch home run to run home and get a picture of him crossing the plate. Scrappin Sports is really good for sports themes. So is Stamping Station. Karen Foster did all the sports if you can find any of her lines. Just about every mfg has put out football, baseball, soccer and basketball lines, and often times track and tennis. Sports like field hockey, lacrosse, ice skating, a bit less of those. Check your facebook marketplace and see if anyone is selling off scrapbook sports stuff. There also might be people on here who can help you out if you just can't find any, especially in those sports pads like Michaels sells. Sometimes you only need one or two sports out of them.

Die cuts with white margins around them! I can understand if it is an image that has flower stems or other things really thin but a lot of times there is a white margin where there doesn't have to be. I always end up fussy cutting the white off, which kind of defeats the purpose of die cuts.
I agree with the gender stereotyping. My first two nephews had no interest in sports or cars. I was so glad the third one did so I got a chance to use some of those themes. When the boys were little they were into superheroes, building toys, games, and art. Now they like video games, music, art, and STEM type stuff. The oldest one rides his bicycle a lot. I agree with others- he is not exactly a "flowers in the bike basket" type.
Why are dogs always brown, blue, and red, and cats are always pastels and pink? My cats do not have "pink" personalities.
I also agree with the people who say the grandma and grandpa themed stuff in lines is bad. My mom never had grey hair. Both of my parents have led very "young" lives. Scrapbook lines have very old stereotypical views on the elderly.
Because I scrap mainly boys I'm trying to get around the "pink" problem. Here are some things I've found:
(Not)Just For Boys kit club. I love their stuff but it sells out fast! I've bought quite a few kits that work well. I just bought a STEM kit from them.
I also have branched out to other countries for scrapbook supplies. Cocoa Vanilla (Australia) had a couple really great boy lines that didn't rely heavily on boy stereotype images. I also bought a few lines from Wild Whisper (Canada). They had a music line with guitars and drum kits and concert tickets that I love. They also had one with a lot of modern video game images. The only problem with Wild Whisper is that their die cut packs have multiple die cuts with the same phrases on them.
I also agree with the problem with "we and our" stuff. I'm single- it is just me, myself, and I. I live in a city and I go to breweries. I need more city and beer stuff.

I have a bunch of loose stickers sandwiched between layers so they don't go missing. I agree with a lot that's been mentioned and to add border stickers that are not 12".

We live in an area where we get snow half the year and the one sport my daughter chooses is Rowing. Cannot find any rowing scrapbook supplies not even on my old Cricut cartridges that seem to have every other sport.
Also I agree on the overused icons like butterflies. We actually have a Butterfly Garden right by our house we go to and I can’t even use all the butterfly stuff.

I can't believe I forgot to add this one. This one is my "HULK RAGE". EPOXY STICKERS THAT TURN YELLOW WITHIN ONE YEAR! Yeah AC I am really glaring at you and sending Hulk after you. Fix your Epoxy. Charging a fortune for stickers that yellow. I bet you are the ones charging a fortune for stickers that don't stick! Ladies I am not joking about this. I have Dollar Tree stickers that are twenty years old and the epoxy is perfect with no signs of aging. I collect stickers. I have very expensive stickers to cheap fun finds. I own a lot of epoxy stickers from all over the world. Not one package of my Epoxy stickers are yellow. Every package I bought from a scrapbooking company has yellowed within a year. It is definitely on them. If you all seen my sticker collection you would agree it's definitely a scrapbooking industry issue with epoxy yellowing. I know you have all said your Flair has rusted and other quality control issues. Off soapbox. That is my only quality control rage issue. The rest are tsk, tsk, tsk, shaking head at the companies.
