I have a Fiskars ProCision trimmer that I bought in 2012. One of its features is that the blade is self sharpening so it shouldn't need replacement (therefore no replacement blades are sold). I've loved this trimmer but lately have noticed some ragged cuts. To be fair, they're not incredibly ragged, it's really not super obvious, so I'm not sure if I'm just noticing it now or if it's always been this way. Here is a picture of a paper with what I would consider a ragged cut. It's hard to see in a picture but I tried to light it really well. Before I contact Fiskars (who I know has a great lifetime warranty on their products), I wanted to check with the Peas to see if you'd consider this a substandard cut or not. I'm not sure if I'm being too picky! Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, I would consider that to be ragged. I wouldn't want my papers to look like that.

Yes that’s not a clean cut.
Fiskars has incredible lifetime product warranties. Contact them and get a new one.

I can't really tell, but if you think it ragged, it probably is. I would contact them.

Yes that is a ragged cut.
I also have the Procision and loved it for a while. Then I started getting ragged cuts. I "sharpened" it by cutting folded aluminum foil. It helped but needed "sharpening" quite often. I got the TH/Tonic guillotine cutter both sizes and put the Procision away.
I never contacted Fiskars about it and I guess I should have since it was MRSP'd at $119.95 (although I bought it using a rare Michael's 50% off). I just used it less and less until I stopped using it altogether.

I have that paper cutter and my cuts don't look like that. Contact the company.

I honestly can't tell from the photo, but 8 years is pretty good! I would contact company.
I have found only cutting one way with my rotary trimmers seems to keep them sharp longer. I had a Making Memories trimmer forever. At one point I did figure out how to take it apart and sharpen the blade a bit, but then I replaced it with the Fiskars Procision one. I hope it lasts at least a good 8 years.

Until you get the blade issue sorted out, you can use a nail buffer or adhesive eraser to smooth off the edges.

As someone who has been there, done that with one of her rotary trimmers, my suggestion to you is to first check the track under the blade. If a little sliver of paper has fallen in, it will mess up the cut, every time.
If the track is clear, then yes, I agree that's a ragged looking cut. When I get cuts like that on my little travel fiskars trimmer, I know it's time to change the blade.
