So, his "American' rights give him the right to carry a weapon that he threatens to use to kill a fellow citizen. But MY "American" rights, in his opinion, do not allow me to wear a face mask to protect a fellow citizen from a potentially fatal illness. Hmmmm. His logic makes PERFECT sense to me.

Crap? This is becoming more prevalent. Discussion keeps people aware, conversations are had, it is becoming our new reality. And it scares the ever living fuck out of me. Seeing what is being eroded every damn day in our country is killing the hope many have for a safe future. This kind of person weighs on me heavily—it can happen everywhere and those who are violating all sorts of things—whether it is a hairdresser violating a governors orders (for her own profit and political statement), to a fucking idiot racist potus, a AG who us dismantling the law of the land, to Ahmaud Arbery’s murderers, to people like I posted in the OP—all of who are not being held accountable or responsible, all who are getting more and more aggressive and violent every day, albeit in their rhetoric and/or actions. It is scaring me to death. I lose sleep. I think about leaving the country. I think about hiding. I think about the affects it will have in my family. I think about leaving Earth. (I’m not suicidal or wanting to end my life I’ve just been thinking about not being able to live with this continual shit every day). I’m scared. Because it's what's happening in our world? Because she can? Why do you care? I read her post to mean, “Why did HE post this crap?”

I read her post to mean, “Why did HE post this crap?” Yes that's how I read it too - I assumed she was asking why would that Kevin Bain guy post such crap.

Fucking hell!
Is there a reason that can't be described as terroristic threats and have him arrested?
That's terrifying.

I hope the idiots who said they’ll cancel their Costco membership and won’t shop at other stores requiring masks keep their word.
I’m happy to not have them there.

What does white have to do with it? Title should just be entitled idiots.... Agreed. These idiots come in all colors including the two guys who shot the security guard in Flint MI when he tried to enforce the mask rule at a dollar store.

And here is their philosophy in a nutshell Heh. Love how they put “freedom” in quotation marks. Maybe they know down deep that the word they should be using, unqualified with punctuation, is ”selfishness.” Just plain, old, unadorned selfishness.

That's just...I don't know...sad? Depressing? Selfish? Uncaring? Assholish? UnChristian? Deplorable? Yeah, those too, but deeply depressing in a very basic way that makes you wonder about humanity sometimes.

And here is their philosophy in a nutshell I guess they don’t follow speed limits either. honestly? they probably don't. But yeah, I love how they (uber-conservative, hypocritical jerks who don't think logically) pick and choose what 'freedoms' and rules they feel like they can disregard, and the fact that they haven't thought at ALL about the laws we live under in order to have ANY of the 'freedoms' they claim to love. We live in a society governed by rules and laws... but they only want to follow the ones that suit them at any given moment. Oh, and color- and political leaning- DEF matters- because we all know how tolerant they were about the brown people who broke laws and risked their lives to come here for a better life for their children. THAT couldn't stand. but THIS? Damn any law that or rule that tells them what they can and can't do with their body! (hmmm... sound familiar? it wouldn't to them, though, if you asked them. THAT'S different. somehow.)

The Venn diagram of people carrying signs like this and the group of people who think you deserve whatever violence from police you get if you are a black man selling loose cigarettes in NYC is a perfect circle.

Some Americans think freedom means NO ONE can tell me what to do. They misuse the word INALIENABLE to propose that anything they want to do is protected by the Constitution.

In Michigan, in a community near to me, a security guard was murdered because he refused to allow a woman and her daughter to enter the store without a mask. That is current Michigan policy. They went home, and dad and brother came back, and the brother shot him in the back of the head. Currently the four have been arrested and an additional 3 have been charged as accessories after the fact. There is no excuse for this, and neither are threats.
I am sure that his former employer have fully protected themselves before firing him.
Just as 'he' can choose where to shop, so too can his employers choose who they employ.

Why shouldn't she? *Edt* Someone here suggested you were referring to why the FB post, not the OP. If that's the case, NVM!

I hope that law firm has massively increased security for their offices and possibly the homes of whoever actually fired him.

Just got back from the grocery store in fly over country. There was a sign at the door to not enter without a face covering and 100% of people I saw were complying. I can't quite understand why a face covering has turned into the hill they want to die on for some segment of the population in other areas, just get in touch with your inner cowboy and bust out a bandanna.

I got my husband a couple of masks with bandana print so he could feel like a cowboy.

Ugh from my ultra conservative Christian Facebook distant relative tonight:
“I don’t wear a mask because:
I am not sick.
Masks trap germs near nose and mouth.
No scientific evidence indicates that healthy people should wear masks.
Wearing a mask is a sign of submission to and compliance with a tyrannical oppression of my freedom of speech.”

in my american political thought class.. 45 yrs ago, we had big discussions of the founders .... we had "freedom to... " not "freedom from".... so we have freedom to assemble, to worship, etc.. not freedom from laws... washington put down shay's rebellion.. kind of similar to these idiots.
