If you've ever put together cards from a kit, you've probably ended up with some leftover bits at the end. This is often because it's more efficient for the company to cut a whole sheet of something or because they send extra pieces in case you make a mistake. But it doesn't really matter why there are extras, just that there are. I put together Stampin Up's June 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit last year. It made sixteen mini, beachy cards. And I had some leftover die cuts: The sand dollars and starfish are sparkly which means I love them. And the leaves seem so versatile. So I couldn't bear the thought of throwing them out. Which means they've been sitting in my craft space, being moved from flat space to flat space-- because while I can't throw them out, I also don't have any great storage idea for them-- and generally just not doing anything. A couple of weekends ago, my CTMH demo had an online crop. I made some cards to fit a challenge using the leftovers pictured above and I thought that this would be a great challenge idea. So, your challenge: dig out some of your leftover pieces and show them some love by incorporating them into a card. Your leftovers don't have to be punchouts or diecuts-- maybe you have a handful of leftover brads from a variety pack, or some leftover ephemera from a bigger pack, or a pretty ribbon you saved from a package. Basically, anything you've got hanging out because it's too nice to throw away but you just haven't figured out the perfect use for them yet. These are the cards I made, and I'm extremely happy about how they turned out. My goal is always that I will make some "alternate" project with my paper pumpkin supplies, but I have a very difficult time thinking outside the box and designing my own. This used the sand dollars and leaves from my kit leftovers, as well as the stamp set from the kit. That blue wavy paper was also from a larger scrap I had leftover after making something else... it was conveniently STILL ON MY DESK. Now it's your turn to dig out your leftovers and give them some love!

Eddie-n-Harley, I enjoyed your balanced, sea-themed cards. Very relaxing to look at! I had a hard time getting started until I decided to make pocket page insert cards into mini cards for tucking into gifts and such. Cool challenge.

Eddie-n-Harley , I love your cards and your challenge! I am a sucker for all things beach, and your cards are lovely. Those sand dollar cluster is a great use of leftovers. jjpeapea, that's a great use of the pocket page cards. I don’t buy kits, but before COVID-19, I was making kits for a free card class that I taught in my home. I had leftover die cuts and stamped images from the class, but I also have a ton of leftover patterned paper scraps in Iris bins. I rummaged through both types of leftovers, and below is the card that I made with them.

So many cute cards! Your little cowgirl is delightful, scrapnnana : and the denim and red patterns are perfect backdrops. Great use of the pocket cards, jjpeapea ! Love the tropical patterns. Those clusters are really pretty, Eddie-n-Harley and I love the wave pp. Those sand dollars and star fish have found the perfect home! Thanks for the challenge. I think my nieces' bd cards count for this. I really just layered together various bits and bobs which were lying around on my desk. Was that from a CTMH set or something else? (I have patterned paper with similar looking flamingos but I don't remember if they had matching cards.)

(Looks real to me and if it is, I'm impressed-- I can't sew ONE line straight.) Glad you realized you could play along. I was thinking about it as I was trying to go to sleep last night, hoping people realized it was more about leftovers than about kits!

I love how you carried the honeycomb shape throughout the first and the flowers throughout the second. Bits and bobs-- that's what my desk, and some containers, and some drawers are full of because I cannot throw things away. Isn't it great when you can put them to use?

Eddie-n-Harley, thank you, but I have to be honest and tell you that the stitching is part of the printed pattern. My sewing skills are far too rusty to attempt something like that!

Omg, well this challenge has taught me that I hate most of my leftovers, lol! I will try to get something up, but this challenge actually made me purge some stuff I have been hanging on to because it was "too good to throw" when it reality, it was just trash.
