I just got an email from my dentist. They are reopening this week. I have an appointment scheduled for next week. If the appointment still stands, would you go?
I know the dentist and workers are more at risk of catching the virus than I am, but sitting there with my mouth open for a 30 minutes does have me wondering. I am in So. Cal., so we have numerous cases of Covid-19 here.

I'm taking my mom for a root canal next week. She's 80 and has heart disease. But she also has a badly abscessed tooth. I'm due for a cleaning in June, and I'm not sure whether I'll keep the appointment or delay a bit longer.

Are you in pain, or need any work urgently?
If not, I would wait.
Especially if the dental office workers might also spend time working emergencies at a hospital, or if they do surgeries and work alongside anesthetics.

My dental office called today to see if I was still comfortable coming at the end of June. I would not be comfortable now but told them I won't know about the end of June until it gets closer. They were fine with that and then proceeded to tell me of all of the changes they have made. It's incredible what they have done. I am not sure what is required but I imagine most of it is. I will definitely feel comfortable at some point because they are definitely working hard to keep everyone safe.

I would wait a bit longer, as long as nothing going on that needs attention now. I had an appt in April, rescheduled for mid June, but am thinking I might push it out until Sept/Oct......

Especially if the dental office workers might also spend time working emergencies at a hospital, or if they do surgeries and work alongside anesthetics. It is just my regularly scheduled cleaning. I do have issues with tartar buildup, and the longer I wait the more to clean, but I am leaning towards waiting until July.

My 6 month cleaning was scheduled for tomorrow, and they called and said the office is closed, but will call to reschedule as soon as they reopen. So, I probably wouldn't have gone anyhow. I'm trying to stay in.

I had one appointment for a filling canceled because of COVID-19, but I went last Wednesday to repair a chipped tooth/loose filling. I have another appointment next Tuesday for a filling and then a 3rd and final one (for now) scheduled for June 3rd, but I might see if they have any cancellations.
Thanks, Sjogrens, for ruining my teeth... 😢

I had my 6 month appointment scheduled for a cleaning for this week, and I was wondering what the plan was since they are still closed, but they called me yesterday and said they are reopening next week, so needed to reschedule me. She asked if June was too soon, and I opted for July, but I'll have to see how things are by then. I hate going to the dentist, so I was happy to reschedule.

I have an appointment next week for a cleaning and I will go. A piece of my crown has broken off the side and I need them to look at it. When it happened I sent photos to my dentist and he said as long as it wasn't hurting to just wait. But I feel like they will be hyper vigilant and I feel safe going.

I'd go, but I'm in an area with a very low number of cases and there's no one high-risk in my household.
My DD has her regular orthodontist appointment next week and she's going. The office just emailed the new procedures for visits.

I got a call yesterday that my kids were supposed to go in tomorrow for cleanings. I called this morning and pushed it back to June. I may push it back longer once we get to June. We are still SIP at least till the end of the month.

I am a Dental Hygienist in MI. We are still closed at least till end of May for elective dental treatment. Our Governor is married to a DDS so i have a feeling we will be closed longer.
I am anxious to get back to work but very scared. As Covid is transmitted thru aerosols, and using the dental drill, polishing hand pieces, and the cavitron we use to clean off heavy tartar all create an aerosol.
Here in Mi we still cant even get enough PPE to clean rooms after patients we are running on a limited exam basis only. We will see you for a toothache, and give you an antibiotic.
We will be wearing N95 mask, face shield, gowns over our scrubs, hair bonnets as well. When we do return. I am ready to go back and take care of my patients but scared, I dont want to bring it home to my family. I know things will change we will extend appts, to allow extra time to clean, and let the aerosol lie low they say.. But we all know they stay in the air for several hours.
I have advised my family and friends when we do start up again and its your turn, try and get that 8 am appt so the air is the cleanest. I also worry about the AC on in the and how that will circulate things.
Hopefully another Dental staff will chime in with their thoughts, especially if they are open for all dental services, they may have more, or beter advice.

We have a very small number of cases in my county and I had a cleaning appt scheduled for next week. I'd intended on keeping the appointment but the office called to reschedule me anyway. Since they have been closed for two months now that they are re-opening all the missed appointments have to be rescheduled so I got bumped until August. I'm bummed. My teeth are totally ready for a cleaning.

It would depend. If I had a major problem, then of course I would go, but my dentist did call to reschedule cleaning and I had them push it out until the end of June and that will still be a wait and see.

I wouldn’t go right now but we’re still under lockdown until June 2nd. But once the lockdown is lifted I think I’ll feel safe going - the gov here is taking a sensible approach. I’m 2 months overdue for a cleaning and I can’t wait to get in there.

I would go, I think... if you're in an area where they'e following the local ordinances, and if you have information about the amount and types of precautions the office is taking. Think about it- what will change between now and June where you are? They won't have a vaccine by then, and your tartar buildup will be that much worse so the appointment could take longer and be more invasive.
(and as I'm writing this, I hope to heck I don't sound like I'm saying I want to 'reopen the country, come hell or high water' because I don't; not without precautions and safety measures in place.)
I take it back, I don't know what I would do.

I'm planning to go next Wednesday with my boys. It's a small family office with a receptionist and two dentists (a husband and wife). They've sometimes had a third gal, but I think she's their daughter. Masks will be required in the waiting room.

I've been to the oral surgeon twice in the last two weeks. I cracked a tooth beyond repair. Had to have it pulled and a bone graft done so I can get an implant in September. I was not happy about having to go but it was necessary. I was in a lot of pain. I went in last Monday so now I'm just waiting the two weeks to see if I caught the Rona. There was no one in the office except the dr and his nurse. His study was concentrated in epidemiology so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I would not go unless I absolutely had to.
ETA: They were basically closed, doing emergency appointments only.

That time span seemed endless, waiting for the graft to fill in, then getting the implant post, having it set, etc. it felt like the longest year, ever! (well, until the pandemic hit, anyway-- the last couple months have felt like YEARS.) quick healing to you!

I would be more inclined to go sooner rather than later. I feel like businesses opening now are going to be more vigilant with their precautions early on but may start to slack off as time goes by.

I had an appointment this Monday which I rescheduled for July.
I just see nothing good about having someone literally in my face right now. Nor do I want to be breathing onto someone else's face. There is no way it can be safe.
I also do not want to be in a waiting room with people who were not told to wear masks. They are not requiring them. So, solid nope.

DH had dental work. I would go if it was me in my area because I think it will get worse before it gets better. In your area though, I might not go unless I really needed to.

For an emergency yes, for a routine appointment and check up not yet.
