Once everything started in March, we missed something like 2 days of work. It was very slow that week. Very concerning, but since then it's picked back up to the point of overwhelming. (Our auto glass company). My husband normally cuts off at 4-5 jobs a day (5 is over booked). Today he'll be at 6.5 jobs. We're working Saturdays. Taking memorial weekend off has us booking things as far out as 6-4! We could really use an employee, but we couldn't find someone when there wasn't a pandemic. Now that guys are getting paid $600/wk to stay home, there's no shot at anyone.
Maybe we can find a high school kid for the summer.

Nope - I am in the medical equipment repair business and we have slowed alot. A good number of our customers are nursing homes and assisted living facilities and they are not allowing any non employee people in the buildings. We also do some work for a few medical research/device manufacturing companies/universities with a similar policies.
We are hoping things will start picking up now that the stay at home orders have been lifted.

That's great you are busy. I work for a collision center and we are still really slow. We usually have 100 cars here and right now we have 6. I'm hoping customers pick up soon!

We are swamped! (Printing company.) We have never been this busy March/April into May. We have fewer people working (our owner offered people to take a furlough if they felt uncomfortable) and we've all stepped up to the plate to fill in the gaps. We think they got the small business loan, because we are working fewer hours, but he has bumped our pay up with an extra 8 hours each week to guarantee at least 40 hours, which I think has been a requirement, if I'm not mistaken.
Definitely ready for a three-day weekend!

That surprises me, a lot of the auto places here are super busy. I can see though, if ppl are staying home, less car accidents!
It really picked up after the stimulus checks went out. Lots of ppl being "responsible" with their money. (yawn, boring lol)

My husband builds computers (esp for gamers) on the side, partially for fun. His business has picked up enormously! Everyone needs a better WFH solution or has more time to game.

We own a collision shop. We were super slow. Maricopa County has a documented 75% decrease in auto collisions. Now we’re busier, but with elective work and cash pay jobs now that people have nothing but time, can stand to be without their vehicles, and have stimulus money to spend. We’re still not getting a lot of accidents. We are not a DRP and we’ve heard from many shops around us who are that we are faring better than they are because the insurance companies don’t have the jobs to send them either.
We’re very thankful.

My friend's husband's company makes hand sanitizer as well as other things. I told her she will be building a mansion soon!

Maybe we can find a high school kid for the summer. That is a great idea. They won't be getting unemployment and you may find someone that will stick around. We had our windshields replaced that first week or so of the lockdown. At the time, that said we were their only call that day. I don't know how he is doing since then.

My neighbor contacted a company about putting in a pool - apparently there's an 18 MONTH backlog. Too bad it's not an easy business to scale.

Sounds like DH's auto repair shop. Slow for a couple of weeks, then BAM. They got busy. I guess everyone working from home has time now to drop off their cars and get them fixed.

Most collision centers here are 1/3 of the staff. We are still at 1/2 staff so that's good. Last I read, claims in the US were down 42% since COVID. Hopefully as states start opening up people will get out and get in wrecks!

It is nice hearing that there is a positive effect for some people and businesses. I did think of how busy printing places must be with all the extra signage!

I work in a law office we do mostly insurance defense and professional liability and a small bit of employment law. The employment law segment has ballooned. The courts here in Ontario opened a little bit yesterday and we are super busy!!!

I sell stuff on ebay. I started a month before but business picked up more when the stay at home started, I think because people had more time to browse ebay.
Good for you!

My neighbor has an online flower shop and she's been very busy since late March. Easter was much busier than normal and Mother's Day was 2-3 times busier than normal (she ever ran out of flowers).

Even my Etsy shop has picked up a lot of activity. I'm shipping more like the pre-Christmas levels of packages.
A friend with a local garden center/gift shop can't beat the customers off with a stick right now. Those people who have extra time and extra money right now are wanting to use both.

My husband’s electronics manufacturing company had a record month. From all different industries. He’s a bit confused but will take it. Their projections are very good for the year. Weird.

As many of you know, I'm an Instacart shopper so I've been very busy. It has slowed down a little, but some days are still nuts.

Well, I’m headed into work tonight at my big hospital. I haven’t been there since March but this is their first full week back since the halt in elective surgeries has been lifted. Only three days in and I understand they are already absolutely slammed. I expect with a two-month backlog we’re going to be running hard around the clock to play catch-up. I don’t think my body’s ready .
