I usually park in my garage so I don’t lock it in there. I lock everywhere else.

If I park someplace other than my garage I lock my car. Always. It's such a simple thing to do and helps to prevent theft.

Rarely. I just don't think about it most of the time. I just try not to leave anything in it. And I never have the doors locked while I'm driving; for some reason the thought of that freaks me right out. What if I needed to bail on the car quickly & the door was locked & I panicked? My car door unlocks automatically if I open it from the inside. It’s locked to protect me from someone trying to get in.

I lock mine all the time. Even at home behind a closed gate.

My car auto locks after one minute. So if I don't lock it, it locks itself.

I bought my first car in 2005 (it was a 2006 model - my previous cars had been family hand me downs), and it automatically locked when I shifted out of park. Same thing with every other car we've bought since then - does your car not do that? Also, the door should open from the inside no matter what. It's only locked from the outside.

We park in the driveway and always lock them. One night we had someone going around trying to get in cars in the neighborhood. Ours were locked but our neighbors weren’t and they got in them. We have a camera outside and saw the video the next day.

At my house I park in the garage, so it's not locked. I always lock my car when it's outside.

I know at least three people in town who never lock their house and a couple who lock it most or some of the time.
I've accidentally left my keys in the ignition of my car more than once and it used to be sop for one of my cousins.
When we used to use the front door more, I would accidentally leave my keys in the lock once a month or so

I lock mine when I am out, but not when I'm at home - if it's in the driveway or in the garage.

We've had numerous thefts in my neighborhood when people have left their car doors unlocked in their driveways. One person had their car unlocked, and the thieves used the garage door opener to access the garage. Turns out, the person also left the door between the garage and the house unlocked, so the thieves got in the house - while people were home in the middle of the night! 😮 I lock all of my doors constantly- I'll even lock the back door if I let the dogs out in my fenced backyard by themselves. I'm a worrier so I thought of the possibility that someone could break into one of our cars and use the garage door opener to get into the house, so I would turn off the power to the garage door at night. Ours had a switch. Cindy

My car locks automatically when I get up to 15 mph. I lock it immediately though because I'm afraid someone will get in with me. Living in a big city makes you paranoid. Cindy

Not when I’m parked inside my garage, which is about 85% of the time. If my car was out in my driveway, then yes. In a store parking lot or parking ramp, definitely. This is my thoughts exactly.

I'm married to a locksmith. I lock everything However, I grew up veeeeerrry rural. We did not lock the house (not entirely sure there was even a lock on the front door), and the standard operating procedure for vehicles was that the keys to the unlocked car were left on the floormat on the driver's side of the car. In case someone needed to move the car or something. I don't recall ever hearing about vehicle theft or misuse or of anyone having their home broken into. This was a town of less than 50 people or so. There was a public boarding school with 100 students that made up most of the population of the town, but the students who were from more than 10 miles away lived in a dormitory and had a 9pm curfew, so they were not free to wander the (very few) streets. I had a roommate in college whose family had lost the key to their house, so if they ever got accidentally locked out, they had to climb in through the upstairs bathroom window! They also left the keys to their cars in the vehicles. I asked her once about something stealing from them, and she said that the thief would have needed it more than they did! 😳 Her dad was in law enforcement, and it boggled my mind. This is the same roommate who usually went to bed before I did. She woke up one night as I was locking the door to our dorm room, and she asked why I was locking the door. I said so no could get in (duh). She then asked, "What if there is a fire? How would the firemen get in?" I told her the firemen would have axes, so I wasn't worried about them, I was worried about anyone else coming in while we were sleeping! Needless to say, we only roomed together for one semester!

Not at home only because it's in the garage; if for some reason it's outside then yes, I'd lock it.

I voted other. Whichever car is parked in the garage is not locked. The car parked on the street is locked and they’re both locked when we go places.

We live in an older neighborhood and a lot of the homes have either small / one car garages or no garage at all. We park in the driveway (small, one car garage that doesn't fit a modern car) and ALWAYS lock our doors. We are also in a dense neighborhood and ripe for car break ins due to the number of cars parked on the street/driveways. Even if I had a garage to park in, I wouldn't want to get in the habit of not locking my door every time I get out. We also don't leave anything in the car that would tempt someone to break a window to get it. Finally, we have a ring camera/spot light on the driveway so we're alerted if anyone comes up the driveway. Mostly it's just our neighborhood raccoon making his way to the backyard.

Yes. It would never occur to me to not lock my car. I'm always shocked at people who do. Along with people who leave their purses/wallets in their cars and are then shocked when the car is broken into overnight. And the ones that leave their purse in the shopping cart and wander 10+ ft away to find what they need. Hello lady! It takes 2 seconds for someone to grab and run with your purse!

I just stopped locking the door when I'm bringing in loads of groceries. It was becoming too much of a hassle to lock between loads. I hope nothing happens.

I voted other. If I parked in the driveway ~ which I NEVER do ~ I would lock it. The latest thing in CA is car break-ins ~ smash and grab. Thanks to our wonderful CA government, it's only a misdemeanor if you steal less than $1000 worth of MY stuff. I don't lock it when it's in the garage. ETA: I always lock it when I'm out and about. I know it really sucks, but you think it's a felony? How many people can we stuff in cages in this state?

There are professional gangs who travel around the state smashing and grabbing.

I very seldom lock my car. I drive a 2011 Dodge Caravan and the only thing in it is an aux cord, He doesn't keep anything in it except his work gloves and grocery bags.
I am always shocked when I hear about peoples car being broken into and a laptop or important musical instrument is stolen. I don't understand people leaving things in their vehicle.
