Ugh, I am so done with distance learning. After today, we have Mon & Tues as student days and then 5 inservice days. 5! I know, planning for next year, but this year has been brutal and it feels like it will never end. The state allowed us to not have to make up our snow days and to use those days to plan for next year instead. While that is kind, no one knows what we're planning for. There will be plan A, B, C, D, etc . . . I know everyone in education is dealing with this.
In all honesty, I'd rather spend those days trying to get kids to engage and work. At least we'll be remote and I can shut off my camera and mic.
So done!

My kids still have ten more days left, and as a parent, it cannot end soon enough.
It's drudgery, and frankly, boring.
Today is the last day of graded assignments, then the rest of the days will be virtual tours & virtual field trips. Seriously? Why bother? Just let kids log in attendance and be done with this farce.

My kids end next Friday. I think that next week is mostly catch-up in many of their classes. My kids are having a rough time of it, so I've really needed to micromanage their time. I'm so ready for it to be done. Of course, I cancelled their summer day camp plans...so we'll just have to figure out how not to kill each other all summer while I'm trying to work at home. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

We are just about finished. Turning in books today. The school set up a drive through. We will hand them a bag of textbooks and they will hand us a bag of locker contents. The kids have til Monday I think to turn in anything still owed.
God bless all you teachers!

Officially school year ends here in the UK around then3rd week of July but at the moment there’s only a very limited number of kids going to school anyway....the children of essential workers, the very youngest and year 6 which is the last year of primary school.

I don't know about locally but my daughter is in her school building right now cleaning out for the summer. They are allowed in the school one at a time to clean and get things. They are done for the summer.

My youngest finished his work on the 14th which was a week before they would have been done in a normal year. My oldest finished his work over Memorial Day weekend which was a couple of days before the scheduled end.

We were done 5/22, summer school (online) starts Monday and I'll be coaching during that. Also doing tons of online PD to prep for next year...whatever that looks like. ddly FIVE days of inservice. Yikes. I know lots of schools do that, and it's probably in your contract, but dang. I hope they make it as painless as possible. Interestingly, the governor announced yesterday Illinois can do in-person summer school groups under 10, 6ft distance. www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/ct-illinois-in-person-summer-school--20200604-6lrcidk6f5frzod7sjsdbpkefa-story.htmlI think maybe that MIGHT work for ESY or other students with special needs IF someone can get the kids to school. Not sure what to make of that, since almost everyone already made plans for remote summer school.

Parent here, a week and half and counting.
My son is graduating, and I'm just over it now. Sad that the usual graduation things aren't happening, but over school. I feel like I have to nag to get him to do his work, and it's tiring.

Today's officially the last day of school. All required assignments have to be submitted today.
In the high school, all of the teachers were supposed to post the required assignments late April, giving the kids 6 weeks to do them - 4 per class. One of my kids finished his in two weeks. The other submitted his last one on Monday after some confusion about the assignments in one class. I think the middle school was set up the same way but not sure about elementary. Once the assignments were submitted and accepted, you were done. Today's just the deadline.

June 26 is the official last day, which will effect elementary more. DD is in grade 11 and they are just going until the final week of classes before exams were starting, which they don't have. Next week is her last week.

One more week, though nothing has counted this entire time anyhow.
The only reason we even have to go that late is bc back in January they found a couple bedbugs in the HS, word got out that the schools were “infested” and parents lost their shit. So many kept their kids home that the school feared the days wouldn’t be counted anyhow so they shut down for 3 days to bring in bedbug dogs and treat all of the buildings and busses. In the end they found a total of 3 bugs. 3. If I’m not mistaking the bugs cost around $1000 per bug. The school asked the state to forgive those days but either didn’t get a response or it was denied (not sure) so we’re having to make them up otherwise we would be out Wednesday. In January we thought bedbugs would be our biggest problem of the year.....how naive were we? 🙄

Officially the end date is June 17th but my eldest is supposed to be turning in her chromebook and things on the 15th. I'm not sure how that works but I'm okay with being done.

Our elementary schools were done last Friday and not a minute too soon, IMO. I too had to micromanage my kid every freaking day to make sure she was doing what she was supposed to be doing and not half-assing everything. The worst part is that she totally reminded me of my younger self, questioning all the pointless busywork and knowing it’s a total waste of time. Being the (mean) parent that I am, I made her do it all anyway. I’m so glad it’s over.
Her BFF’s grandma wanted to make plans to get the kids together this week, and I was all like, “Uggghh, I just need a week to get my house back in order! How about next week?” I’ve had to spend so much extra time lording over my kid the last ten weeks that the whole house is a dumpster fire mess.

Students were done May 22nd. May 29th was my last official day. I did take 4 professional development classes yesterday so today is the first day I actually feel like I'm on summer vacation.
I have zero idea what fall is going to be like but I managed to get my virtual classroom up in a week so I'll figure it out when August/September comes around.

It ends on the 19th. My oldest (9th grader) has finals that last week, the 5th grader says "good-bye" in some type of drive up parade (parents and kids stay in cars teachers are outside) next week but school ends the following Wednesday... I have to go to the middle school next week to pick up dd's things, one person per family allowed in the building and dd is refusing to go since she'd have to wear a mask. I'd rather no try to open her pe locker padlock and find her art class... Students are keeping their ipads and chromebooks over the summer, the schools only want the library books back... I'm kind of over the home school thing. DH is here because he's working from home but his "help" is not helpful. The good news is, my older two kids both made honor roll... their grades only being able to go up from whatever they were in March, not down, means they both got straight A's

My students last “graded” (but not really since nothing counted) work was due 5/15. They had A week of “wellness” activities that 3/56 did, ungraded, just do SOMETHING. I was signed out, classroom shut down, at noon 5/29. My district allowed anyone to come on campus at anytime to work in their room and on files.

We have had 5th grade dgs for most of the SIP and his teacher gets an F for distance teaching. Kids were issued Chromebooks but this teacher gave out homework on Monday & Wednesday that took maybe 1/2 hour. I know this because I sat with dgs while he did it. Then on Tuesday & Thursday they had a scheduled Zoom meeting, but the teacher just sat and watched the kids talk to each other. I am most worried for the kids going back in the fall that will be behind and the teachers that have to deal with them and trying to catch them up. Dgs is going to middle school so it is going to be tough on him. His last day of school was last Friday.

I had not heard this yet about in-person summer school in Illinois. I am curious what my district will decide to do - the superintendent had talked about maybe doing a "jump start" type of summer school in July (regular start date is early August), so they might try that. Typically our summer school is for those who have to attend because they failed the grade or were very close to failing.

Our district still goes until mid-late June. (My law school has been out since the end of April, thankfully). My kids are definitely over distance learning here. Happily, the teachers had until mid-May to notify a student that the teacher intended to give the student an incomplete, so from here, the pressure is much less (for the older students who have specific classes).
It is funny -- my kids have been out of Hebrew/Sunday school since our temple closed in early March, and one of the teachers called me on Wednesday to say that they were planning to start online classes up next week (our Hebrew school year generally goes the same length as the school year). My kids are already dealing with online school and online soccer practice and online dance classes -- I'm like, yeah, sure, I'll let the kids know and we'll see about it, but I am telling you, they are Onlined Out.

DD last day is the 16th, but I don’t think she has done much in the last few weeks. Here in ontario, (for grade 12) they received a mark on their midterm report card (in April) based on work before shut down.... their mark can not be any lower than that..... any work they continue with can be used to improve the grade. Hard to stay motivated.
