Always. I live in Seattle.
Back when I was an apartment dweller in the 80's and didn't have a garage, my car was broken into while it was parked across the street from my place. In a "nice" neighborhood.
About 20 years ago my then husband's car was broken into in our driveway. We always parked the cars inside, but his was in the driveway for several days as we prepped for a garage sale. Again, in a "nice" neighborhood.
For those reasons, and for convenience sake, I won't live in a place without an attached garage.

We park in our garage. Even when DS comes up to SIP with us, he parks in the garage. Our development has no over-night street parking. Driveway is fine.

I grew up with my parents not parking in the garage because they didn't want to open the gate every time they left. We fit 3 cars in the driveway (in front of the gate) When I got my car I would have to park in the street. I ended up parking in the driveway of a elderly neighbor.
My husband grew up with his mom using the garage for storage (pack rat situation). He was adamant that we would always be able to park our cars in the driveway. Its been that way for 34 years.

I live in san francisco, have plenty of free street parking all the time.. and we have a small garage../basement that is under our living room..we live on a hill. we don't park in the garage.. it is full of stuff.. I am working to get rid of enough to park our old mini in there.. but I don't know. it is a small 1920's opening.. so it is tight. dh has his electric bike and burning man bike there too.. we also have a small house.. so the basement has a lot of stuff in it. maybe someday..
we are not typical.. cause we have no 2 hr parking restrictions and with two empty houses next door.. there is a lot of street parking. we have three cars.

Up until about two month ago I always parked my car in the garage. But I’ve purchased a few pieces of exercise equipment since then. I have no other place to keep a home gym at this time other than my side of the garage, so my Durango has been sacrificed to the elements in my pursuit of the perfect body (lololol ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) ). My husband’s boat is stored on the other side. We fortunately have a wide driveway that can easily accommodate three cars side-by-side, so we don’t need to park on the street.

Attached two car garage. Live in Colorado where hail and snow are common. We have a crawl space for storage. I can't imagine using my garage for storage. I love having my vehicle away from the elements and thieves. One less thing to worry about I guess. If I didn't have storage, I am not sure what I would do.

Not usually on a day to day basis but get the cars in the garage for sever weather events. The driveway is large enough to park 4 cars; street parking is not allowed in the neighborhood.

Nope. Our house is a tall, Charleston style house, and for some reason the builder just did a single car garage. I would rather park in the garage but when you combine a pack rat husband and a single car garage, it’s just not going to happen.

At our previous house, we had a detached garage full of DHs crap that no working vehicle ever saw the inside of. Spent many early winter mornings digging cars out. New house we have an attached two car garage that only I park in. DH parks outside. 2 large vehicles just won’t fit especially with camping gear, freezer, DSs bikes and outdoor toys. DH had a detached garage built in our backyard for all his stuff.

Our garage is now my husband's game room/office. Prior to that it was a dumping space for many years but DS1 used it as a gaming space when he lived here.
There are no basements in my area because of the soil. We would love to have a basement.

I’m in St. Louis and have a detached garage for 2 cars. It’s a tight fit for both cars and some storage, but we park in it all the time. I don’t want our cars out in the heat or the cold if they don’t have to be. We have a third car that we are giving my niece for her 16th in December. It gets parked on the street and always just looks dirty with leaves and street dirt. Our neighborhood is completely filled with adult trees so there’s really not a place to park where you’re not under a tree.

I’m in the panhandle of Texas - hot summers and snow in the winters. I park in our 3 car garage and our corvette is there as well. DH has a truck and parks in the driveway.
No one ever parks on the street unless the garage and drive way are full (like for a party).

For the past 5 years I have parked in the garage. Prior to that my old car (Expedition) didn't fit. We have a 1950's detached garage and they just weren't built deep enough to hold today's large pickups and SUVs. For the first 20 years, we parked on the driveway. That ended when DH's 1 week old car was vandalized. We immediately started parking behind the gate (for me) and inside the garage for him.

I wish I had a garage. Alberta winters suck. If I did, I'd park in there everytime I came and went no matter what. Even if I was leaving again soon.
We have a neighbour with a garage that parks outside and shovels their vechile off or lets that snow melt on it when the come home for a bit then leave again, what a pain. Our other neighbour has a vehicle in the garage and on in the driveway but they always drive the driveway one, I'd take the non snowy one.

A garage, by definition, is a place to store a car. We have a house with an attached 3 car garage. Both cars are in the larger, double garage door side. The 3rd bay (with its own door and electric opener) is where we store our lawn mower, bicycles, garbage & recycle bins, plus my DH’s huge tool cabinet.
Everyone in my neighborhood puts their cars in the garage unless they have more cars than garage bays. Plus we live near a GM plant that makes pick up trucks and many of those workers live around here and those trucks are too long for some of the garages. As for converting a garage to living space? That’s not something I’ve ever seen around here.
The only time we parked one of our vehicles in the driveway was for a short period when we lived in Texas. Half of our double garage was full of stuff I had inherited after my mother died. As luck would have it, a hail storm came out of nowhere and my DH’s car was parked in the driveway. The pea-size hailed turned into golf ball sized hail. DH ran to the car and drove like a madman trying to find cover. The Sonic Drive-in and the nearest 2 banks with drive thru with over hangs were full, but he finally found another bank drive thru he could shelter under. His Durango had huge dents in it, but no broken windows. Our neighbors that had that left the cars out had dents and smashed car windows. For us, garage = where we put the cars.

I live in Canada ... it's cold here for most of the year so I definitely park in the garage ... scraping windows is not fun I also have a basement for storage so that helps Exactly this except in Michigan. We have a 3-car garage with 3 cars and a basement for the "stuff."

Absolutely park in the garage.
Except December-April, when we can’t drive cars to our house because of the snow. Then, we park the cars in a parking lot, and park our side-by-sides and snowmobile in the garage.

I always park in the garage. DH tries to park one of his vehicles in the garage in the winter but isn’t always successful. He drives a truck and it’s a tight fit due to shelving along one wall, my car on the other side and the ATV with the plow in between, plus trash and recycling cans, his shop tools, etc. We have a four car attached (three stalls across and The end one is two deep), but he has a rotating selection of mowers, ATVs and other stuff that he uses to take care of the yard and the snow and those things take up a lot of space. ETA: I’m in MN where winter feels like it’s nine months long some years.

I don't drive and we don't have a garage - we have a carport and DH's precious Mustang project is slowly rusting there. (Florida)
Growing up - I don't remember having garages until we moved to the States - and the first house we lived in here also didn't have one -street parking only. The next house had a one car garage and we were a two-car family. I think only Dad's car fit - mum drove a station wagon. The house my parents bought as I went to college had a one car garage also - I don't know if Dad used it - mum had a mini van when they moved in that didn't fit. Once mum downsized to a small car, she always parked in the garage though. (Rhode Island)
edited - we also don't have a garage/attic or extra closets (one per bedroom - no others). We did put a shed on the property for storage and based on what that looks like - I doubt we would be able to park in a garage if we had one - DH is a packrat

Our house has a one car garage. We use it for storage and park in the driveway. Around here most of our neighbors do the same.

Working on parking in the garage as D/H is gradually weeding out his three car garage sized hoard. I live in South Florida, so parking in the garage is helpful due to damaging sun and weather. Plus our driveway is lined on both sides with 40 foot Royal palm trees. They drop fronds that weigh about fifty pounds and when they land on a car can they smash windshields and cause significant body damage. I park kind of in the middle of the driveway.
I would say at least half the people in my neighborhood park in their garages. In South Florida we do not have basements and in my neighborhood no storage sheds allowed but most people here do not have lawn equipment. Also, it is too hot and humid to use a garage for anything but car or other durable equipment storage.

Two car attached garage and we park two cars in them. We have a third "kid" car and that is parked outside, under our second story deck. We also have a basement for storage, but we store our snow blower, our garbage cans, bikes, skis, Thule etc... in the garage too.

We park our cars in the garage, except for kid cars, which get to live in the driveway.
It’s cold and snowy here in the winter. It’s bad enough to have to scrape the windows and brush off snow after work. I’m not doing it at home.

Do not park in garage currently.
House #1, 2 car attached, West Texas, we usually scrambled to clear out room when a hail storm came so we could park in garage. Normally we parked at least one car in the garage, one in the driveway and one side of the garage was storage. House #2, 2 car attached, East Georgia, rarely parked in garage, usually filled full of crap. House #3, 2 car attached, North Central Texas, I insisted that I park in the garage. DH parked his truck in the driveway. Rest was storage. House #4, 1 car detached, Eastern Nebraska, built in 1922 and none of our cars will fit. It's used as storage, we park in the driveway, it sucks in the winter.

We moved from a house with a tiny garage (you could park in it AND open the doors only if you drove a Mini...) and one car driveway, to a 70s house with 500 square foot garage and a 3 car driveway those people from the 70s had big cars! And then DH unloaded all the moving boxes into the garage when we moved in 7 years ago, and then started collecting tools... parking in my very own garage is on my bucket list to cross off before I die. It's almost clean enough on one side right now but not quite... and I'd have to find the garage door opener.
We also have a shed, an attic (above the garage so it's pretty big) and a covered patio... no basement though.

Always. Every home we have lived in has had an attached garage. I think my DH thinks it's a sin to leave the car or truck out. ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/laugh.jpg.gif) Vehicles stay in much better condition if kept in a garage. I have no desire to scrape windows and brush off snow in our Ohio winters.
