The Vettes get the garage, my car stays in the driveway along with the other Vette that I keep covered. As soon as the 2 antiques are sold my car will finally get to see the inside of the garage. I do have a basement and a storage shed out back. We did have our garage built 4' deeper so there was room for the extra refrigerator and a couple of storage cabinets.

I've never lived somewhere with an attached garage until I bought my new house last Fall. I park in it every day. They say it's a double car garage, but it's not. Which is perfect for me. I have it lined with wire wrack shelves on both sides for storage, a freezer, etc. And my car fits perfectly between all that. It's nice and organized for the most part and I love it. This is almost my same situation

3 stall garage, 3 vehicles inside the garage. Plus tons of shelving and other storage. It needs organized badly right now again, but the cars fit!

Two car attached garage, in northern Illinois. I always park in the garage, and so did my husband when he was alive. I would not buy a home without an attached garage, and will always choose to park inside.
Lawn care items, snowblower, trash can, recycling can, tools, gardening items, coolers, etc. are in the garage.
The unfinished basement is used for storage of other items.

DH and I both parked in the garage when we first got our house. This lasted about 10 years. Then we got a trailer, and now that sits in half the garage - and we only parked one car in there. Then he got a motorcycle, and now that sits in the other side. We've not really used our garage for much storage. Our garage houses tools, christmas decorations, a couple of EZ ups, but definitely not anything I would call junk. If we don't use it, we get rid of it.

We have brutal winters where I live, and having a garage makes a massive difference in the mornings. When I was house hunting, a garage was very important to me. Plus, I like the additional privacy. People can't see our cars and don't know if we're home or not. I also prefer having an empty driveway, everything tucked away nice and neat.
My grandparents had an extremely neat and organized garage. It felt like an extension of their house and was pleasant to walk through. My parents always kept so much stuff in their garage, no cars would fit. It was a jumbled dirty mess.

Always have. We have a two car garage, but only park my car in it. Our other vehicle is a truck that is too big to fit in the garage. We are one of the few in my small neighborhood that park our car in the garage--many use their garage for storage, or have converted it into living space or a home gym. We are in Northern CA, Sacramento County.

My garage has no car access. Nor does my neighbours' or their neighbours'. is it called a garage then? Other than the fact that you can't actually park in it, it's indistinguishable from a garage - regulation size with an automatic garage door and everything. While, I guess, by definition, it's not a garage, that's what everyone here calls them.

Yes I park in my garage, that's what it's for. We also have a lot of shelving and some pallet racking on the walls, so as well as having our two cars and a fridge/freezer in the garage, we also store a lot of stuff such as books, CDs, cooking appliances that don't get used frequently, plus a ton of goodness-knows-what in boxes/tubs in the ceiling cavity.
Everyone I know parks their cars in their garage or carport. Every house in my suburb has a double carport or a garage.
I would be annoyed having to defrost my car windows every morning in winter, if I didn't park in the garage. DD has to do that, because she doesn't get a spot in the garage and has to park on the front lawn.

Yes, I always park in my garage. It's a large one with space for two cars, a workshop area and storeroom at the back, although there's only room for 1 car now. I have my bike set up on a wind trainer plus lots of things being stored in it including firewood, garden stuff, bins and pet stuff - bales of hay for rabbits.

I always park in the garage and love it- no frost or snow to clear off in the winter and I stay dry in the rain! I’m in NJ.

We park the cars in the garages. DH is fanatical about it.
At one point it was so bad that he finagled 4 cars in the big garage. Because my car was smallest, it was fit in there in a very specific way. I threw a fit enough times that my main vehicle is in the attached garage. He finally gave up and had to park the truck outside because the family vehicle is too big for the lunatic spot.

We have a detached 2.5 car garage. We even used it for a few years when we first moved in without a automatic opener. It was rough trying to lift if since it's an old door. But with MI winters it was heaven not having to scrape and brush snow and ice. My cars look mint without the sun and snow wrecking the finish.

I do park in my garage... when we were looking for a house, one of my requirements was a two car garage because I lived in a condo before (without a garage) and it was always a pain having to scrape ice and snow off my car in the winter. (I live in New England.) I was done dealing with it! Around here, some people park in the garage, others use the garage as storage and park outside. We try not to keep a ton of excess stuff in our garage so our cars can fit. We occasionally have hurricanes hit this area and sometimes cars parked in people's driveways get broken into during the night, both which make me grateful to have the garage to park in!

There are a number of streets in the neighbourhood that have alleys that bisect blocks (like the one below allowing access to back-yard garages for both Rhodes and Coxwell) but ours doesn't. ![](https://i.imgur.com/d6eCDzi.jpg?1)

I’m currently in TN (army life). I have always parked my car in the garage. The other half is storage and a home gym. Hubby has always parked outside.

My house has an attached "double car garage". Its in quotes because I'm not sure in what world it would fit two cars. I drive a corolla and a van. The corolla would fit if there was absolutely nothing in the garage. But you would run the risk of hitting the step that goes into the house if you weren't 100% precise in parking. I wish we could park in it, but since we cant, we use it as storage for my dads tools (he doesn't have space for them at his apartment), my parents winter tires, all of our bikes and our extra fridge and freezer. I live in Canada.

We have a two car garage. DH parks his car in the garage. My car doesn't fit, so "my" side is for tools and yard equipment.

Three car attached garage, and we still park our four cars in the driveway. With four drivers coming and going, we would have to do some pretty serious scheduling to get the cars arranged every day so that each driver could get out when necessary without moving another car first.
We only have one bay available at the moment anyway since DD turned one into s home gym during COVID. She is on the university weightlifting team, and they let her bring the equipment home when the gym closed. We let the other team members use it as long as they followed social distancing and wiped everything down after workouts. If it was just DD using the equipment, she would have set it up in the basement, but this way we didn’t have team members in the house.
Another bay is full of gas-powered lawn equipment—riding mower with wagon, leaf blower, trimmer, snow blower, etc. DH is building a shed right now that will house this equipment, and eventually we will be able to park our two cars in the garage in a few years when the twins move out for good.
We live in a neighborhood, but the neighborhood is located in rural WV. We keep our doors locked in the driveway, but we really aren’t that concerned about break ins.

I'm in MN. We park both of our cars in the garage. The only things that we store in there are outdoor things--toys, tools, bikes, etc.
Most of the people in my town park in the garage, but some don't, especially in the summer. They may use the garage for socializing (man cave) or to have the kids toys more spread out. I've seen a few people use their 3rd garage stall for a business (hairstyling or daycare) but other than that I haven't seen people make it a living space.

No the 1950’s car sits in there. It pisses me off because it has been on the road 2x in 32 years. Once when we drove it around town and when it was towed out here.

North Dakota. It shocks me the number of people who don't park in their garages, especially in the winter. We get way too much snow and it's too cold to deal with all that!

Always. I live in Seattle. Back when I was an apartment dweller in the 80's and didn't have a garage, my car was broken into while it was parked across the street from my place. In a "nice" neighborhood. About 20 years ago my then husband's car was broken into in our driveway. We always parked the cars inside, but his was in the driveway for several days as we prepped for a garage sale. Again, in a "nice" neighborhood. For those reasons, and for convenience sake, I won't live in a place without an attached garage. I guess not! 😱

I live in Texas and park in my garage about 95% of the time. I have no basement. Half of the garage is used for storage and the other half I park in.

We live on a really quiet cul-de-sac, and although we have a two car garage and a driveway, we just park in the street outside our house. Our drive is quite steep so it's easier to leave the car outside. We also use our garage as a games room and gym.
ETA: We don't get any snow here, but cars do get really hot in the hotter months (May-October). That's when I think about maybe parking in the garage but our automatic garage door is broken so we'd need to get that fixed first.
European pea here!
