Trump did a bible-as-prop photo op

I also read that the Bible he held was a Revised Standard Version (RSV Bible). This is a version of the Bible which many evangelicals object to due to its 'revisions' of the Bible.

It was transported to the Photo Op in JAP Ivanka's $1500 Max Mara handbag (she doesn't even use her own Chinese made products).

I am sure she had to scramble through the WH asking staffers "who has a Bible here?" and in her infinite knowledge, didn't even question if there were different versions of the Bible.

And t he was asked if it was his bible and he said “It’s a Bible.”

Makes the whole charade even more ridiculous. No wonder he had such a hard time figuring out how to hold it.

I get that he just has the face of an asshole and he often looks stupid when smiling, but damn...

I just have no idea who would come up with this idea...hey the country is protesting and rioting and looting. Let's move the protestors out of the way and stand in front of a church with a Bible. That will make things better

A good Christian man who has cheated on every wife he has ever had. I don’t get it. I really don’t get how super religious people can back this man.

This is why evangelicals think he's fantastic. They can justify everything because he is God's anointed. Or some shit like that. Copied/Pasted from some super religious conservative website I won't even link to. If you google "trump salty sailor" you can easily find it.

Read this once, pause for a minute or two to think honestly about it, then read it again. I can find no fault with it. The views this Guest opinion 4mother has about Donald Trump are much like many other people. Her characterization of Trump as the "Salty Sailor" or as “The Fireman” paint an excellent picture!! She has written many great books about her son and family. This is a Comment from KAREN VAUGHN, Mother of Aaron Vaughn, Navy Seal.

Sometimes God uses the no-nonsense, salty sailor to get the job done. Appreciating what the man is doing doesn't mean we worship the salty sailor or even desire to be like the salty sailor. It doesn't even mean God admires the salty sailor. Maybe He just knows he's necessary for such a time as this.

I believe with all my heart that God placed that salty sailor in the White House to give this nation one more chance in November 2016. Donald Trump is what he is – and he is still the man he was before the election – and without guilt. I very much admire what that salty sailor is accomplishing. He's not like me. That's okay with me. I don't want to be like him. I will never behave like him. I know we've NEVER had a man like him lead our nation before. It's crazy and a little mind-blowing at times. But I can't help admire the stamina and ability he has – acting with his heart rather than a calculated, PC, think tank-screened, carefully edited script. I still believe that is WHY he became our President and WHY he's been able to handle a landslide of adversity and STILL pass unprecedented amounts of good legislation for our country AND do great works for MANY other nations, including Israel.

I'm THRILLED with what he's doing for my nation, for the cause of Christ (whether intentional or unintentional, doesn't matter to me), and for the concept of rebuilding America and putting her FIRST. I will not be ashamed of my position because others don't see him through the same lens.

Should it matter to me if a fireman drops an f-bomb while he's pulling me from a burning building? Would I really care about what came out of his mouth in those moments? Heck no! I'd CARE about what he was DOING. He wasn't sent there to save my soul and I'm not looking to him for spiritual guidance. All I'm thinking in those moments is, "Thank you, GOD, for sending the fireman.” AND DONALD TRUMP IS OUR FIREMAN.

I'll soon post this article again for those who still might not understand me. This man is crass. Okay. He's not careful with what he says. Okay. You feel offended that he's not a typical statesman. Okay. But he is DOING THE JOB of rebuilding the nation my son died for... the nation I feared was on a fast track to becoming a hopeless cause.

Oh well that explains a lot. How very convenient that they don't have to bother themselves with his actual lack of Christ-like behaviours and thoughts  

It's worth reflecting on why he would think this would be a helpful gesture, and why anyone would receive it as such.  Given the lack of evidence that he has any religious devotion, why would people believe that he has it?  Given his behavior, why would people consider him God's chosen?

And why would black evangelical churches view him differently than white evangelical churches?  When people think of him as chosen by God, chose by God . . . to do what?

It explains a lot. The evangelicals in power don’t care how much you sin, if you are a tyrant, whether you repent, if you know anything about the a bible, or even if you are a Christian. As long as you are willing to “talk Jesus” and have potential-power, you are anointed as one of their own. Jesus + nothing. That’s their catchphrase.

He lost me when he said Two Corinthians.  Well, actually he never had me, but saying Second Corinthians that way made my head jolt.  My fifth grade bible school teacher would have had a hey day with that.  

I am pretty sure that most religious people that support him truly do not think he is a Christian, but he says the right things (at times) and puts in conservative judges and that is why they voted for him.

Sometimes you just can’t fix stupid. 🤷‍♀️

If he was worried about evangelical numbers, he shouldn't have gone to an Episcopal church. Evangelicals hate Episcopalians more than Catholics, since ECUSA has not only has women priests, but gay clergy.

I am sure he thinks a church is a church and has no idea that there are churches and Christians who oppose his principles and actions.
