I just logged in to Instagram to check her out... why, why, WHY, would you choose a picture of you and your spouse grinning like idiots to announce that you're divorcing? I just scrolled through her feed and he has that same forced ‘for the ‘gram’ smile in pretty much every picture. Especially jarring for a divorce announcement. 🙄

I've heard of her because I saw her first book everywhere. I never wanted to read it though because I thought the title was stupid. This was me too. I even went so far as to pick up her first book and flip through it when visiting Barnes and Noble before the pandemic just out of curiosity. It was worse than I'd imagined. Full of nonsense and condescending advice. I don't normally bother to read books like this-they aren't worth my time. I was only curious because this book kept popping up in various Facebook reading groups I belong to. I don't care for people who delude the public in order to make money. And plagiarism? Oh boy, you are dead to me if you have plagiarized anything. Am I surprised this woman stooped to this level? Not a bit.

I never got into her, seems like she was telling women you don't need to have a perfect life, while at the same time her entire public life is picture perfect. Nope!! Practice what you preach first!

I don’t have any intention on following her or reading her books, but I bet she picks up even more followers and makes even more money for writing this crap.

From what I remember about her story, her husband's money is what helped propel her into the influencer lifestyle and then the book deals.
But she plagiarized most of her inspirational quotes by simply using someone else's quote and changing the word order up.
Yeah, that. She sells women on the "you can do anything!" mantra. "Just look at l'il old me!" Yeah, "l'il old her" with her Disney exec husband pulling in 7 figures while she event plans, and decorates and "finds herself", until, for some unknown reason, she makes it big.The second I realized this was the premise of her book, I immediately threw it in the trash. She is full of shit and certainly does not deserve the following she has. Platitudes do not make you an expert on anything.

Girl, cut the crap, just be genuine and show your children what real life is like. That's should be the title of her new book!!! "Girl, Cut the Crap!"

People be pissed about the money spent on the marriage conferences [scams] My favorite analogy is: taking marriage advice from these two is like taking French lessons from someone who failed French. ![](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ec/f9/06/ecf90679871bda0de26a37e0b5dfe002.jpg)

No idea who this is - and what is that odd photo? It's a totally bizarre picture of his squatting crotch. Attractive, eh?

Next time you hear someone crowing about their life, remember that this was posted a mere week before the divorce announcement. From the hubby's IG - now deleted ![](https://i.ibb.co/RhV8GPL/764-F5633-1-D7-D-4-CD0-9-ABB-E4361-A019834.jpg)

I know ain't no one got time for this ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) but if you're really into a deep dive on "toxic positivity" as rep'ed by Rae, look no further than this excellent analysis - and it was PRE-DIVORCE notice - shows an amazing level of insight if you ask me.

My takeaway is that I am *SOOO GLAD* my Instagram feed is all scrapbooking, dogs, cats, and pretty pictures of crafts! "Toxic Positivity" is a term I don't think I've thought about or heard much about, but it is sooo true.

I don't follow her. I've heard of her because my 23 y/o daughter bought her book and she got some inspiration out it it. My neighbor lost 75 pounds following her website/blog program or whatever it is and is all in with her.
So I'm thinking, "good for her".
What I'm also thinking after seeing all these posts that if I were sucessful woman with some product I crafted and worked hard to create a business and support my family off of, I'd be worried the mobs were coming for me next. Any misstep, any sign of imperfection, and out come the pitchforks. You are torn and ripped to shreds and you are cancelled.
On the other hand, if you are making boatloads of money by posting skanky pics of yourself on IG and flaunt your slutty and vain behavior, saying mean and nasty things to other people then you have girl power and can do anything you want and no one breathes a word.
This.is.sad.

This sounds like a fortune cookie or like one 9f those sentences you form by hitting the space bar on your phone and choosing words at random.

This.is.sad. I’m also not a fan of cancel culture and the online mob mentality. It’s like we’re a pack of hyenas just waiting for the scent of fresh blood to tear someone apart. It’s not a good look. To give you some context with the issue here, the main product she sells is herself and her life, specifically her perfect life that could be emulated if you do what she does. See her post above from just before her divorce, and the posts she made about how she keeps her marriage strong and sexy during quarantine. Those were 100% lies. She is very similar to the evangelical preacher who preaches against homosexuality, or the Republican senator with the family values platform and a mistress on the side. Rachel Hollis is the same. If she was the CEO of GE, for example, her divorce wouldn’t matter and everyone would be sympathetic. Aside from her divorce, I would have to disagree with the statement that she crafted a product and built up a business. Intrinsically, her product is selling the dream of having a life like hers, without acknowledging that a lot of money went into her having that life. Which is cool, but don’t pretend you were poor and worked your way up, or that your lifestyle is a result of your actions. There have also been some troubling plagiarism charges, so some of the product she sells is actually stolen. Not that all this makes it okay to rip her apart, but she’s earned a bit of snark. We should actually just ignore her to death. I mainly think she’s another example of influencer culture and following a personality instead of actual expertise. I really hope that stops.

Kinda gross to me to put makeup on little kids (even for "performances"). ""(It was) Noah's first recital," he wrote, alongside an adorable photo of the little girl wearing a blue dress while Hollis took a photo. " True Texas form, that meant lipstick, blush, eyeliner & mascara. I don't know mascara but 3 of 4 felt like a dang win — she just kept saying 'I'm so beautiful.' She is."" She IS beautiful and she shouldn't start internalizing it's because of the makeup. It doesn't mean "lipstick, blush, eyeliner & mascara" unless you buy into that, dad.

And so it continues, with little girls raised to idolize some ridiculous beauty ideal instead of their character, their actions, their brains or their physical capability. Cuz pretty is what girls are for. Gotta love the patriarchy. Sigh. Oh and in other news, I believe the Hollis’ are writing a book about divorce. You know, the right way to do it.

The influencer culture needs to die. It needs to be illegal to monetize children. Agreed. It seems to me that the "influencers" are the girls from high school who needed lots of attention, finding a way as adults to get lots of attention. Gross. And in their 20s and 30s, having the life experience to guide the decisions of others? M-kay.

He might not have had a choice in the matter. When my kid did ballet (all the way up here in MI) a few years ago the big performances required full stage makeup. Eyes heavily shadowed and gobs of mascara. Ridiculous amounts of lipstick. Way too much dark blush. It was insane. I wasn’t happy because my kid was 5. 5 and all that makeup. My kid wasn’t happy because she thought it looked bad. That was the end of ballet for us. 😂. For more reasons than bad stage makeup.

That is typical recital makeup. My daughters did competitive dance for 6 years. At first I didn't like the amount of makeup that they had to put on but I did it and the coach is right that when they are under the stage lights you don't notice it. For competitive dance it wasn't an option. The girls that took regular classes it was encouraged for the recitals. From the audience you could tell which ones weren't makeup because they looked very pale/washed out. You couldn't make out facial features to see who was who. That was the only time my girls wore makeup like that. Oldest dd is 17 yo and she rarely wears makeup so wearing makeup at a young age didn't seem to have any impact on her.
I am confused by all this influencer talk in media. I thought she was just an author?

Honestly, of all their WTF bullshit, makeup on a 5 year dancer with a performance is the last thing I am shaking my head at. 🤷♀️
