Do you utilize the third-party restaurant food delivery apps such as waiter, door dash, etc?

Not anymore. We tried them and found that the food was usually cold by the time it got to us. I'd rather just go eat in the restaurants, but currently we pick it up outselves.

Never ever. A guy from work said his ex wife once got a Big Mac value meal. After the charges/tip, it came out to $20. If my entire house was sick, I may consider. But so far, I havenāt felt the need.

I hate take out. Hate it. You get screwed with tiny portions and all kinds of charges for stuff you donāt have to pay for if you eat in the restaurant. Then add a delivery fee and tip? No thank you.
We did get delivery from our favorite Tex Mex 3 times while they were shut down because it made the kids so happy, but it was twice the price for less food. I ordered directly from their website and then they partner with Door Dash to deliver.

Nope--I'm too cheap to pay the extra costs and usually what I want isn't too far away so it's just easier to go pick it up. If there was a very good reason why we couldn't drive to get food I might consider it.

Our local Little Caesar's didn't have their own delivery staff, so I got it through Seamless (or GrubHub?). It was terrible - expensive, cold pizza. I use delivery apps only if a restaurant doesn't have its own delivery staff.
Picking up food is not so common here. Delivery is where it's at! LOL

Yes ā all the time. Itās less of an issue now when thereās less traffic but sometimes you just want someone else to deal with the hassle.
ETA: I order regularly and donāt get cold food. If youāre getting cold food, then you can complain and get reimbursed. Or donāt get delivery from that restaurant again.
Also, if youāre paying astronomical amounts for delivery and tip, donāt get delivery from that place ā pick another. Many restaurants only charge $1.99-3.99, and a $3-5 tip is adequate. I donāt order from places asking for $6.99 delivery fees.

Uber Eats but haven't in a while. The fees just make it not worth it. So much cheaper to call (but then I have to talk on the phone). We have a Slice app that is local pizza places. I actually really like that one and the pizza places gets all of the tip you leave.

Only since having to live like a caged animal...I mean only since having to SIP due to covid. Otherwise no, we much prefer just going to a restaurant.

No. I get the delivery fee and tip. What I refuse to do is pay extra for the food on top of that. Example: hamburger is $5 in store and $7 plus delivery fee plus tip.

Not much at home. We live in an area without many options.
When I travel to SLC for work I use them often for lunch. Our building isnāt within walking distance of any places to get lunch and I canāt really pack my lunch from the hotel.

No, we do not use 3rd party apps. A friend gifted me a $20 giftcard to grubhub. $13 of the $20 went towards the delivery fee and tip!

I never have and - after an experience this past weekend, I'm pretty sure I never will? On Saturday, our doorbell rings and our RING camera shows us the person didn't hang around so we're thinking Amazon/UPS/FedEx delivery. No big deal, we'll go get it in a few. Well, it turned out to be 5 bags of FOOD from a local restaurant left on our doorstep. ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) Long story short, the restaurant could not trace who the food belonged to. Trying to call GrubHub (from the receipt) was useless and knocking on the doors of all my neighbors didn't result in finding the rightful recipient of the food. A good hour later, the GrubHub driver came back, looking for the bags he'd mis-delivered. What he planned to do with the food, I don't think I even want to know. What I DO know is that using third-party for food delivery is not appealing to me at all now. I could add in a few Nextdoor horror stories, but this one is not second hand. .

Not anymore. We tried them and found that the food was usually cold by the time it got to us. I'd rather just go eat in the restaurants, but currently we pick it up outselves. Same. We used to use them a lot but the food frequently took forever and was cold by the time we got it. And now with COVID I'd rather just pick up the food ourselves - with curbside pick up it's one less set of germy, virus-laden hands on my dinner. Plus I've heard they are charging the restaurants insane fees, like 30%. Boo on them I say.

My daughter just became an uber-eats driver, like just 2 days ago! She loves doing it and as of right now, either I or my husband go with her (and once her friend who is a boy. My DD is 19 and in college, but home from Michigan, her summer job fell through bc of the virus. We never use a 3rd party delivery, usually I or my DH just pick up the rare times we eat it at home. I usually cook! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg) We are flabbergasted by how many people order from McDonald's, Taco Bell, or Arby's. I can see ordering lunch out if you're stuck at work and didn't plan ahead for your sandwich, or whatever, but come on people! Also we had some orders from nicer restaurants and then had to deliver to some sketchy neighborhoods. Someone ordered 2 hamburgers, fries, and dessert from a pricey restaurant 30 minutes away from them, and by the time we picked it up and dropped it off, I'm sure it was cold! Of course there are some exceptions. My niece who is extremely handicapped and in a college town, living on her own, orders out all the time.

I don't use them here at home but before the SIP I would use them at hotels when we traveled (cheaper than hotel food) or if I had an all day offsite work meeting I would get lunch or Starbucks delivered. When you don't have a lot of options they come in handy.

I don't but my kids do (more so 20 yo DS than 23 yo DD). He would spend a lot on just one meal! He would order from them but wouldn't drive for them during the last 12 weeks (he drove for them before the virus). I thought that didn't make much sense.
Supposedly most customers want the driver to just leave the food on the doorstep, so there's not much of a chance of virus transmission (CDC supposedly says now that there is little chance to get it from surfaces).
I have been hearing news stories recently that some restaurants are not too happy with the apps as they charge outrageous fees and also have set up their own web links for menus with sometimes erroneous items and pricing.
I work for Panera and the Door Dash drivers often seem to show up way earlier than the food is even sent over our system so they have to wait around awhile.

I used Door Dash 3 times last month. Once on Motherās Day. The fee was worth it for me not having to go get the food. The next time was Chick-fil-A, because we were super busy packing for a camping trip. It came super fast, and was perfectly hot still. The next time was for just a ābecauseā dinner. It was on time, but not hot. But thatās not the fault of the delivery service, because I could see when it left the restaurant and it took the right amount of time to drive to my house. That was the restaurants fault.
I probably wonāt use it again, because we are super close to the restaurants, and now theyāre all open again here.

Yes, fairly often, more so since Covid. I need a break from cooking sometimes. We never get cold food and they almost always get the order right. Except one restaurant where we ask for some changes and they somehow always mess it up no matter how clearly I explain in the notes.
We have door dash and "name of our town" food express. We do not yet have Uber Eats. I think we do have Grub Hub but most of those restaurants are further away and I do worry that the food would be cold. Plus most of those aren't restaurants we eat at anyway.
