I would like to start making cards, and I think I could come up with some design ideas, but what do you do about a sentiment in the card? Where do you get your ideas on what to say or do you leave them blank? Not sure I like that idea because then I still have to write something on it before I use it anyway. Any hints or tips would be welcomed.

I make a lot of cards and I just google free card verses for the occasion. I've always been able to find a suitable sentiment. I hope this helps.

I would recommend looking for stamp sets that have sentiments as well as a matching message for the inside of the card. For example, this stamp set could be a good choice for you to start with.

I have lots of sentiment stamps for the outside of cards but none for the inside verses. I print them out on the computer.
This allows me to customize it for the person I am giving it to. There are lots of places to find verses but you can also make something up that is just for that person.
I can also decide what size and orientation, also the font and colour.
I find children really love when you put their name in the inside of the card such as 'Happy Birthday Suzy'.
Sometimes I even print out the sentiment for the outside if I want it to say something specific or if I need a certain size.

I don't usually bother with sentiments, unless I am specifically making something for an occasion. I often include cards when I am mailing other things to people, and then I write a note on a post it note and stick it in the card in case they want to reuse it.

Thanks for the hints. I didn't realize there were sites out there with sentiments already written out. I think they will be a big help, at least in the start of my card-making ventures.
And Oldcrow, looks like we have the same hair style and color.

So we do. I refer to mine as short, white and sort of mussy.
