If you don't want to wear a mask, then don't wear a mask. But stop posting every opinion piece from every jackass out there in order to try to justify your decision. Even if you don't want to try to stop the spread of Covid, at least stop the spread of misinformation.
Is anyone else constantly seeing this? Or just me?

Yep. It’s all about justifying a selfish decision. I don’t see it from anyone who truly can’t wear a mask. I don’t see it from people who say they don’t wear masks when the situation doesn’t warrant it.

OMG. Just talked to our neighbor at the lake yesterday (70-something lady who lives in another state and normally lives at the lake cabin from May-October). She refuses to wear a mask because she allegedly has “chronic bronchitis” and wearing one makes it hard for her to breathe. Um, ok, but she hasn’t been to a doctor in probably 30 years. She’s been ranting on Facebook about it for weeks now, how people are judging her for not wearing one, etc. My comment was, if you can you should and if you can’t, well then you just need to do the best you can to distance yourself from other people. Then she went on to complain about not being able to sing in church and how ridiculous that is. Seriously? You won’t wear a mask but you want to go to church and sing? All righty then, good luck to you. Guess you really can’t fix stupid.

If you don’t want to wear a mask, don’t put one on leaving your nose out. Your only performing a useless farce then. ( and some if these were supposed medical professionals )

I don’t think so. If they don’t believe it is a problem, they don’t have to make any sacrifices or inconvenience themselves to be part of the solution. If climate change is not real, they can continue to drive big trucks and consume, consume, consume. It’s not a problem. If CV19 is a hoax, they don’t have to SIP. They can go to bars and movies and the beach. It’s not a problem. If masks don’t work, they don’t have to wear them. It gives them an easy out. No guilt required. Now the flat earth thing—you got me.

I'm so sick of the people who are saying "if you're afraid, stay home."
We can open up the economy if more people are out there shopping and more people can go out shopping if people would just.wear.masks. You want life to go back to normal? Wear a freaking mask. It's just not that hard.
And people who are immunocompromised or have family members who are actually do have to venture out of their homes occasionally.
What amazes me is some of these people that I see actually call themselves Christians. I'm like "love thy neighbor - cover thy face!" (I'd love to throw "asshole" in there at the end but my message might get lost..."

California is now requiring masks. Our county never stopped requiring them. I’m glad because everyone complies without making either side look like they are crazy for wearing or not wearing one.

I don't get the people that use the excuse that they don't believe in science.Science in some form surrounds all of our everyday life. It just beggars belief how anyone can choose which " science" they believe in and which they rebuke for their own convenience. If someone doesn't want to wear a mask, just own it and say so but don't hide behind the excuse that they don't believe in the science behind its use.

Yup, our county always requires them so no change for us. Everyone in stores are wearing masks, although about 10% are wearing it below their nose. I am interested to know what the people in Orange and Riverside County are saying/feeling about this. They did not require masks.

While we are and have been very low in infections, our rates are now as high or higher than the beginning. And people still refuse to wear masks! In our church on Sunday there were 5 people wearing masks! The casinos have opened here and I told DH we would be safer at a casino than at church - at least they require masks!

Holy shit! Businesses refusing to have employees mask up, not asking patrons to wear them, people screaming about their rights. It’s crazy! If you want your head to spin.... I'm curious what message your government has given regarding mask wearing? I think a big part of it here is that it has become a political issue. Not only did the CDC originally say that wearing masks wasn't helpful, we have our dear leader talking negatively and refusing to wear masks and shutting down the states. We also have Republicans suing state governors for "overusing their power" by shutting down the state. I see one party spreading the fake information regarding masks (and other topics). Although I don't think it is just one party that does not wear masks. My complaint is that if you choose not to wear a mask, own that choice. But don't spread information that is not true simply to justify it, while at the same time leading others to believe that it is good information. I think it is an interesting point about Christians and mask wearing. One of the people on my friends list who has shared several things today that justify not wearing masks is also a strong Christian. But, since she has found all of these other people who say that wearing masks is harmful to her and not helpful to her or others, I'm sure she doesn't see anything un-Christian like about her choice.

This is also in Illinois, but I can't tell you how many times I've seen people walk into a store and then rip their mask off.

So they are doing their part by not wearing masks. I am so glad people in our part of southwest PA are wearing masks. We have a very low daily count now, even with a major city in the county. So people are out shopping and supporting the economy by wearing a mask while out.

As of yesterday yes. Why? Because Newsom put in a statewide order that masks are now required. Personally I think it should be up to each county and city because some areas are doing good, some areas okay, and others (like LA) are doing bad.
But yeah, now my FB feed is full of "science" proves masks are bad, I can't wear it because of -insert stupid non valid reason here-, this is all political and stupid, he is not my King I only answer to one King (God)...that one made me LOL
I am on a FB break right now. It is either full of mask debates and "science" or Trump crap (both sides).

Our governor made it a state wide order...we are now at the LOWEST rate since it started...deaths are down, new cases are down. Maybe some should have followed Cuomo's lead.

I am interested to know what the people in Orange and Riverside County are saying/feeling about this. They did not require masks. Actually they were required in stores in Riverside County. I have close family in that county. The only store it wasn't required was Stater Bros. I am San Bernardino County. They were required for stores except Stater Bros (it was optional) and all along doctors offices, dental offices, medical offices, hospitals, pet stores, vet offices, ect ect ect that were open required them. Honestly it isn't that big of a change. You still don't need them for outdoor activities if there isn't a large crowd and you can social distance. So When we go to Prospect Park for a hike or Oak Glen we will not wear them. It is outside and easy to social distance. Just now, all stores require them. And not one single county sheriff or PD department is going to enforce the rule LOL I will still wear mine when I go to Staters, Albertsons, Sprouts, Target. And when we go bowling in a week and a half. And when we go to the museum today. Of course though, I believe in science and 3 out of the 4 of us are at risk so why take that chance. I am going to live my life but practice social distancing, wear a mask, and wash my hands. Those 3 things prove as a reliable way to stop the spread and stop contact.

I am not going to keep her locked up in our home. Same for DS. They need to LIVE life. Go out and experience stuff. We all wear masks. It would be nice if others did too for all of our benefit. But you know, the weak, ill, and special needs people don't matter.

I am absolutely seeing mask-deniers here in my part of the UK. Local FB groups have been full of people who think they make you breathe in your own germs, make you short of breath, dont protect you against the virus, all the usual denial stuff. We drove through town today...maybe 20% of people were wearing them, and most of those were in the queue for the bus, as it's now compulsory on public transport.
I wore one the other day to collect a takeaway, and was the only person wearing one, alongside two old men who were discussing how you're more likely to be struck by lightning than catch covid. There have been incidents locally of people deliberately coughing on people wearing masks. It's not to the extent that you're seeing it, but it is happening here.

The anti mask wearers are the same ones who were screaming about opening up: "it only kills the elderly, if you're afraid of the virus stay home, etc." California just made masks mandatory state wide and my favorite thing to tell these people is "if you don't want to wear a mask, STAY HOME!" This whole pandemic has made me hate people even more.

Our government has generally given the advice that on its own a mask wasn't going to make much difference but together with the social distancing and the washing of hands then it was an added safety measure but if someone wanted to wear one then it was up to them. That still applies but now that some people are back to work and travelling, shops have also now re-opened but with strict guidelines, what has changed is that it is now mandatory to wear one on all public transport where social distancing is usually not possible, if you don't then you are not allowed to travel. You also have to wear one if you need to enter a hospital both for patients appointment and as a visitors. Many do now also use them for shopping as non essential shops have opened but they are not mandatory in stores These are generally in line with the recommendations that the WHO made recently. I can't comment on the Christian part of what was in your post as in all honesty religion isn't so strongly discussed here in the UK and thankfully the very religious keep their thoughts to themselves.Religion in the UK is far more of a private belief than vocally and actively public as it is in the US.

Sibling wants to have a dinner out to celebrate a nieces graduation.
I stated that we wouldn’t be attending because we were not yet comfortable going to a restaurant where there were strangers, servers who went from table to table... That there were no masks...
Sibling responded that they’ve been going out since restaurants reopened, and that I’m more likely to get sick from grocery shopping.
Second sibling says medical studies say that masks are not effective, that “you wear underwear under your jeans but you can still smell a fart” (as evidence that masks don’t work)
They didn’t like my reply that “if your farts are wet ones, spraying droplets, rest assured your underwear would keep those droplets in your pants” (that the underwear did it’s job)!!
