Aug. 4th for teachers and August 12th for kids. I’m a principal so I go back this coming Monday. Our parents are being given a choice between 100% in-person school or 100% remote learning (for elementary). Are your classroom teachers doing the remote learning instruction as well as in person? Do the remote students have an option to come back to in class at any point? My district is allowing them to return at trimester/semester. The teachers won’t do both. Parents are getting surveys to tell us if they plan to send their kids in or do remote/virtual. So that will determine how many teachers are needed for each. The next few weeks are going to be insanely fluid as we try to make plans. My class lists and master schedule will be blown up, for sure. 😭. And yes, parents can change their choice at the end of our grading periods (we do nine weeks) by giving us at least two-week notice. Other than that, we don’t have details yet. I officially go back next week and will be in district meetings the whole time to work out procedures. I saw the word “Coronacoaster” on FB today, and that is definitely the truth!
