Have you traveled this summer or are you planning to go somewhere before the end of the year?
We went to the beach last week. Stayed in a condo and ate out only a few times. We spent most of our time outside on the beach or doing other things. I feel comfortable with our decision to travel and I know we needed the getaway. We could have taken time off and just stayed home, but it wouldn’t have been much of a break. DH would have ended up working a ton from home had we done that.
Just curious what others are doing about travel now.

Yes. We went to the OBX. stayed in the (unbeknownst to us) shittiest hotel, bought all new linens because it was so gross.
Wore our masks everywhere and carried hand sanitizer. Went to the wright brothers memorial, the corolla horse tour, and the beach. Ate out once a day, food in the room the rest of the days.
We had a cruise booked. Had to rebook for next year but I’m not all the way convinced we’ll even get the go.
ETA we drove there. The kids only got out to use the bathrooms on the drive. Which wasn’t very often.

We cancelled the two vacations we had planned this summer. One was to visit family in NYC and the other a house rental at a resort. We were looking forward to both.
We decided to move up the timeline for the work we had planned for the backyard and get the deck replaced and get a hot tub.

I spent 2 weeks at my parents. It was nice to get away. It was hot and they have a pool.

We canceled vacations to: Malibu in May, Jackson Hole for June, and Cabo for last week. Cabo was canceled literally at the last minute when DH's company revised International travel quarantine time from 2 weeks to 21 days.
We have gone to OKC and Dallas 2x for long weekends.
edited to add: we are going to a Lake a few hours away next week and will have a VrBO to ourselves with our own dock. So we wont have to see other people.

We had just gotten back from Cuba when the lockdown happened so we hadn't planned anything yet. My ds is so busy we wouldn't have been able to go anywhere anyways. DH has been to a friends cottage for a golf weekend. I am hoping to go to a friends cottage in September. We have made day trips to see my dd in her university town 2 hours away and done touristy things there.

We did sorta. My youngest played MN Jr PGA golf again this summer. So we had several overnight golfing trips. On the last 2 day tournament our older kids came along and we spent several extra nights at a lake resort. Masks were required for all indoor spaces, reservations had to be made for dinner and we were able to keep our distance from others as needed.

Yes. We went to the beach in North Carolina. We met my ds and his family who drove there from Georgia. Both households had basically done nothing since March except for an occasional trip to Costco so we felt very comfortable doing it. We had a house there, and we were the first renters since the beaches had opened back up. The area we were in was mostly houses and some low-level condo type places, but no mega hotels, so the beach wasn't very crowded and it was easy to set up far enough away from everyone. We took all our food with us except for things like milk, ice cream, etc. I went to the grocery store at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning to get those things and there were maybe 2 other people in the store with me. lol
We did nothing but go to the beach, go for walks, and sit on the deck and eat. We steered clear of the boardwalk and restaurants.
My biggest worry was the bathrooms during the trip, but that worked out well. We only needed to stop once in each direction and we chose one of those highway rest stops which are usually bigger than a small gas station or fast food bathroom. It was fine because although there were a lot of cars at both rest stops most of those people were sitting at a picnic table, exercising their dog, etc. They were not in the restroom.
We took tons of disinfectant, hand sanitizer, etc. Even though we were the first renters I still sprayed/wiped all the faucets, light switches, etc. before we touched them.

DH ended up going on a weekend fishing trip with a friend so I took the boys to a resort at the Wisconsin Dells the same weekend. We had a great time with half of the population of MN & IL (and others, but those are the license plates we saw the most!) It was great getting away and only have to decide which pool to go to next.

We were supposed to go to Hawaii this summer. I was so excited because I have never been. That got put on the back burner for who knows how long, but my DH and I got in the car and did a driving tour through the Badlands National Park and went to Devil's Tower and Mount Rushmore. No inside tours, just mostly us in a car for days. If this keeps dragging on and Hawaii gets punted again next year, we may drive through Yellowstone.

No. All our plans involved crossing a border so they've been cancelled. DH & DD have a trip to Europe planned for the end of the month and he still thinks it will happen, bless his heart. DD is busy working on a Plan B road trip for them. We live in an area where plenty of people are vacationing and we are staying away from the beach because of them.

We drove 12 hours to southern BC, where we have spent most of our summers. We rented a house we have been at before, we had our own pool. We came from an area that had never had one case (just had our first 2 cases 2 weeks ago) and went to an area that currently had almost no cases. We didn't get away last winter, were going in April. And now will be facing another long cold winter. We've had 2 cold crappy summers. So we enjoyed that heat and that pool. We ate out on vacation, we don't eat out at home. We also bought food to cook at the house. I felt better eating out than at the grocery store. The store was crowded, my small town store is not crowded. The restaurants only half the tables were occupied and the servers had masks.
I wanted to go to the mountains but the prices of hotels are insane, I'll keep watching. Maybe in September or October. We often go at Thanksgiving.

No but I live in a vacation destination and there are plenty of people traveling here as if we are somehow immune because we are close to the beach...

Not yet. Our daughter/sil rented a cabin in upper Michigan for Labor Day weekend. There will be 8 of us. DD, SIL,DGS, DGD and 2 great grandsons. Our oldest granddaughter has to work all weekend. We will be spending the whole time at the cabin, in the woods on a river. We are all so excited to get away from real life for a few days.

No, we were supposed to move to Tokyo this month but that’s all on the back burner until the US gets the virus under control. The weather here in MI is beautiful so I spend most days sitting by my pool.

We drove to the hill country and did a lot of hiking in June. Currently we’re driving to Rockport to sit on the beach. We avoid crowded areas, go to the beach/trail early and late rather during the crowded part of the day, get takeout, and spend the hot afternoons napping in our rental house. Feels about as safe as staying at home TBH.

Not any real travel. We have a camp that is about 1.5 hours away. I have been going up most weekends and will also go and stay the last two weeks of September. It is still in my state, so no border crossing necessary.
I miss not being able to go to Maine for a few weekends, Montreal, Boston, etc. I only had short, New England State and Canada, visits planned. I am not overly aggressive about expanding my travel at this time, and I suspect it will be awhile before I feel really comfortable.
My plan is to enjoy my beautiful state this year, and probably most of next year. We shall see. I never say never, but am certainly not confident traveling yet.

Nope. All my vacations and getaways have been cancelled. I'd love to do a little road trip, but I'm a one person household so doing it alone isn't much fun.

We took a long weekend road trip into rural Idaho. We did eat out some on that trip, but were cautious about it. I don't think we were ever in a place where there was more than one other table of people. We wore masks whenever around anyone else. The most "crowded" place we were the entire trip was Craters of the Moon and we barely passed anyone on the trails there.
We also went to a golf resort near Klamath Falls in south central Oregon. It was a condo vacation rental, so we ate all our meals "at home." We were out and about a fair bit, but it was all birding - so hiking in remote places or driving through national wildlife refuges. I don't think we ran into anyone on any hikes. At one NWR, we saw a few people from a distance, but other than that, it was really just us the whole time.
The change of scenery was really nice and did us all some good. We took appropriate precautious and I'm comfortable with our choices (and it's been over a month since we got home from the second trip and everyone remains well). They may not have been our typical vacations, but we enjoyed ourselves.

Jealous! I was talking with my son over the phone earlier today. He knows how much I hate Seattle winters, and how much I love NM. He's trying to convince me to rent a house in either the SF or Taos area for a couple of months this winter.

Just got home today actually! We went upstate to Lake George for 5 days for our annual family vacay (14 of us). We had a GREAT time and it was the most normal I've felt in a long time. We had great weather so did lots of outdoor activities: pool day, stand-up paddleboarding, river tubing, boating, cliff jumping, etc.

No. By now we should have gone to 3-4 Cardinals games (spending the weekend in St. Louis), one HUGE vintage car show, a NASCAR race, and a scrapbook shopping getaway that SO planned for me as a Valentine gift (he planned it all but it was supposed to happen at the end of March). And those are the "normal" things we usually do, that doesn't account for the spur of the moment road trips or weekend here or there that we might have done. I'm jealous of all of my friends who have done trips to the beach, or to see sites like Yo-Semite (hehe) or the Grand Canyon, etc. I am just a chicken at the moment. I know we are healthy, but once we leave the little bubble of our community, I just can't...

Yes. We went to Hilton Head. Drove straight thru, rented a house near the beach. Not directly on, but a few houses away with a private path. It also had a private pool. Ate most of our meals at the house/delivery/take out and when we did go out, did outside seating.
We did a few outings, all outside activities with just us. Ordered our groceries online. However that was a bit of a mess so we ended up having to go in a couple of stores. Thankfully they had implemented a mask mandate a couple of weeks before so between the masks and many others ordering online, the stores were not busy at all.
Next month dh and I are going to northern MI and renting a place for a few days. We'll do the same sort of things there.
ETA we were supposed to be heading to California/DL in a few days. That was canceled, I have no interest in being on a plane or a theme park right now. And I think DL is still closed. Wouldn't go anyway though. I'm rather bummed about that, but we did get all our money back, minus the $50 cancellation fee, so that was good!
