In OBX now in a rented condo right on the beach. There are five of us and we’re taking precautions, wearing masks when someone goes out to get take out or groceries. Only half of the condos are rented. Social distancing on the beach, only using the pool when no one else is in there.
It is soooo good to get away from home/work (I work from home) and spend time with family. We’ve done two jigsaw puzzles already and about ready to start a third. Loving the daily interaction with family as I live alone now and it’s been tough this year. Not looking forward to going back home! LOL

We went to upstate NY (west side) to our dd's boyfriends family lake house for a week and we went to OBX for a week. I have no problem traveling. We did cancel a 3 week trip to Europe. I am hoping we can do it next summer.

I cancelled my England vacation. I won’t be taking any vacation because the corporation I work for has stopped PTO accumulation until at least the first of the year for “financial” reasons. Blow me. WOW! That really sucks.

No but I live in a vacation destination and there are plenty of people traveling here as if we are somehow immune because we are close to the beach... Same. Everyone is holidaying within the UK so all my favourite places at home are packed. I don't begrudge the businesses their trade, I hope it helps them recover, but I'm pretty sad that I'm having to avoid all my favourite spots in my home county.

Cancelled three vacations so far. 1. We were supposed to visit friends in Florida at the end of March and understandably that didn't happen. 2. Cruise to Canada in August (we cancelled before the cruiseline did) 3. Rented a house in Newport and our Governor put Rhode Island on the hot list so vacation cancelled, then he removed Rhode Island the week after we cancelled the house, so we may do some staycation day trips next week.
Actually 4. Had a cruise planned for February, and we just cancelled that and will hopefully be able to use the credit before April 2022, if the world calms down by then.

All of this gives me ZERO loyalty to them. Fortunately I retire in 97 weeks.

No - we were supposed to go to the beach for a while like we always do, but that was scheduled right when Corona was really really bad here. We figured we wouldn't be able to do anything except go to the beach while there. And while that is fun for us, DH and I are white white white and can't be out all day or in the middle of the day. We usually go to the beach in the morning, do something fun like out to lunch or to a local attraction in the middle of the day, and then back to the beach in the late afternoon. We weren't even OK with using the pool with other people in it at that point. So we passed. We may still go later on - kids are doing online school so we can do that from anywhere.

I've barely left me house, and only for the most necessary doctor appointments and to pick up meds for my dog outside the vets. I've not even eaten take away since at least February. I am terrified (with reason) and do everything I can just to avoid contact with everyone outside my 2 family members. I can't conceive of going on vacation. It's a horrible way to live, but I don't know what elseto do.

I have cancelled 2 trips now. Hubby works for a huge oil company with a seashell for a logo and they are very strict about Covid so he is paranoid and knowing him, he would not enjoy the vacation because of it. I'm going through the stage of depression with this whole quarantine situation. It's our 30 yr anniversary in a week with no celebration plans anymore. Don't get me wrong, I'm still happy with a wonderful man and 2 great kids but Corona you are a huge party pooper!

We did two big trips last year and had nothing planned for this year at all, so no. We have been going to our lake place (an hour from home) most weekends but have been mostly cooking there and the only places we’ve gone are the hardware store, the landscaping place (mostly outdoor) and we went to the grocery store once. Normally we go to the grocery store there every couple weeks and to the meat market in the next town over about as often, plus we typically would have a meal out somewhere at least once every other week and for the most part we’re doing none of that.

Yes. We just took a road trip to see my brother’s family in Vegas. The only things we really did outside the house was either outside, a little shopping (not much, though), and ate out a couple of times.
We’ve canceled our trip to Maui next month. 😪
My friend and I were supposed to go to WI in late October for She Loves Color, which got moved to virtual. She will be staying at our house instead.

We had a Panama Canal cruise booked for late March, but that got canceled.
We did go to Fort Myers Beach for a couple of days (all of 30 miles from home).
Plans to rent a house somewhere on the east coast for Thanksgiving. All three of our kids, their spouses and 4 grandchildren will be there. It will be the first time the 2 newest grands will be together - one born in December and the other in April. Can't wait.

We went to Disneyland in January, just before this Covid thing got serious. We have tickets to Hawaii for the week before Christmas. My gut tells me we'll be cancelling that trip.

Depends on what you consider a vacation, but we have gone on three RV camping trips in our own state as a family of four.
We are going to a hotel at the end of the month. My son has a Couple day hockey training in Wisconsin. We are taking my mom. She needed something to look forward to, so we are taking two extra days to make it a mini vacation.

The travel we wanted to do this year (Brazil, Alaska, and Disney World at Christmas) has all been cancelled or is likely to be. Instead, a few weeks ago we rented a cabin in a provincial park that we enjoy. And later this summer we are heading to a cottage on another lake. Neither trip requires any public transportation, and once there, it's easy to social distance. That's all we are comfortable doing for now.

Heck no! There's a world wide pandemic going on. We are not taking any chances. All of our vacations involve getting on a plane and that's not something we are willing to risk at this point in time. The two destinations we have in mind for our next vacation are Germany or St. John USVI. We were hoping to go to one or the other this year. Not happening with the pandemic. Hopefully next year, but it not than we'll shoot for 2022.

No. But I seem to be the only person I know who hasn't gone on vacation. I floated the idea to my kids about renting a house with a pool in St. George the week before school starts. They didn't see the point. I'm so tired of feeling like I'm the only person isolating for the greater good. I want to go to beaches, too. But I also want my kids to go back to school and be able to visit my mom before she fades away completely. You're not alone Peal. We seem to be the only ones in our circle of friends/family (except my Dad) who haven't taken a vacation. To answer the question, no, we haven't vacationed this summer. We were supposed to go to Arizona and possibly Canada. I'm praying for next year.

Yeah, tell me. They also stopped their contributions to our 401K, and there will be no raises or bonuses. The PTO thing bothers me the most. All of this gives me ZERO loyalty to them. Fortunately I retire in 97 weeks. Did they not lay people off? Those seem like reasonable measures to take to keep from having to do layoffs, which I would appreciate. I'd be thrilled to lose PTO or 401k contributions and get my full salary back (not to mention bonuses!). And I'm feeling like one of the lucky ones since my company did lay offs for about 40% of our employees.

We've rented VRBOs at the beach a couple times...just an hour from home. Next month we have a condo in Mammoth. We had to cancel our big vacations

But there have been layoffs in our 10 hospital system. Today we got a memo that PTO will be accumulating as of September 6. AFT.

We don't feel safe traveling at all yet, and I'm already VERY bummed that we probably won't travel to see our families for Christmas.
My brother was going to visit for a few days, (we have a blast together---I would have loved it!) and then take my Dad on a fun road trip to see allll his grandchildren that he misses A LOT: but we made the difficult decision to keep Dad here with us where he has been literally NOWHERE since March.
Dad would have worn a mask whenever they stopped to use the bathroom, BUT---my brother is a bit anti-mask (hopefully he's changed!) and we just don't trust that Dad would wash his hands long enough/ take enough precautions. We also didn't want to risk my brother giving it to Dad, since he doesn't seem to take it seriously. Ugh, THAT was NOT a fun phone call !!

In that case, I know it sucks to not accumulate PTO or get the PTO match, but I would try to look on the bright side. It sounds like they really did what they could do to keep from having to do additional lay offs, so they likely really do have your best interests at heart! No vacation sounds better than no paycheck.

No but not because I don’t think it can be done safely. We’d rather wait and go when we don’t have to feel restricted. The downtime of the spring shelter in place felt like a break. We all discovered new hobbies or rediscovered old ones.

We were supposed to go to Hawaii this summer. I was so excited because I have never been. That got put on the back burner for who knows how long, but my DH and I got in the car and did a driving tour through the Badlands National Park and went to Devil's Tower and Mount Rushmore. No inside tours, just mostly us in a car for days. If this keeps dragging on and Hawaii gets punted again next year, we may drive through Yellowstone. While not anything like Hawaii I would love to do both of these options. I never really thought of them until a friend went years ago and showed me her pictures and they have been on my bucket list since.

No, all of our vacations have been cancelled. I finally gave up trying to have one. We did fly to see our son over a long weekend but I don't consider that a vacation.
