Good morning. I have to run outside so that we can have a socially distanced meeting w/the contractor who will be landscaping mil's front yard. Then we'll head out to deliver mil's treats. Too bad we can only wave at her from the outside. This afternoon I have a video appointment w/my neuro-gi. I have to fill in her in the latest shenanigans. Dh has rechauff from last night's dinner.
What's on your menu?
Everyone please have a fun and relaxing weekend. Wishing you a delightful time this weekend.

Not having a good day...not sure why but I have been on the verge of tears all morning. Miss seeing my friends, really missing my dad today and just on overload. Might be ice cream for dinner

christine58 , (((((HUGS))))). I'm sorry that today is rough. Ice cream for dinner sounds appropriate. snyder , I'm answering your question from yesterday. Mil is only 97 lbs. We bring her ice cream bars and sandwiches, Sees Molasses Chips, her favorite trail mix from Trader Joes, fruit and sungold tomatoes from our garden. She loves the sungolds. She doesn't gorge. She'll eat 1/3 of an ice cream bar after dinner. A box of Molasses chips lasts her for a few months. She calls all of it her junk food, but really at 91 and so thin she deserves to have whatever she wants. Regarding tuna, I hate fish almost as much as peas. The smell drives me wild, but I love tuna salad. Go figure. My mom used cut a tomato like a flower and put the tuna salad inside. It must have sweet pickle relish. Sometimes I would put pickles on top of it in a sandwich. Yum.

Oh christine58 I'm so sorry. Yeah, it sounds like a day for ice cream. DS got his license this morning. And he's going in an hour with his buddies to pick up keys to their apartment! Yay! DD decided to drop Finn off last night because she was working a double shift today and needed him to be supervised. I did not hear her come into my house. I was fast asleep. Imagine my surprise when I woke up at 1:30 to potty and found little Finn snuggled up against me in bed. I had no idea he was there. I'm not sure what is for dinner tonight. I'm hosting a BBQ tomorrow with our circle of people only to celebrate all the birthdays we missed during COVID. And Jeremy just informed me he has to work tomorrow. So...that means I've got to clean the house by myself and go to the grocery store and prepare food. So I'm rethinking my food plans. Thinking I might get stuff that's already prepared. Like potato salad and coleslaw. Instead of making from scratch. I feel overwhelmed. I have a whole day of work today and then I've got to be ready to host at 3 pm tomorrow. So dinner tonight will most likely be just a sandwich because I'm too busy to put in dinner effort.

We walked super early and luckily it was cloudy. I'm getting ready to turn on the A/C which usually I don't have to do until early afternoon. For dinner I think we'll have sausage, fruit salad, a veggie and a green salad. Our sunsets have been beautiful. These were taken last night on our walk ~ it was dark when we got home.

Happy Friday Everyone!!
It's Friday! Whooot Hooot! I'm going to a scrapbook store with a friend tomorrow. I can't remember the last time I did THAT!
Dinner tonite might be stuffed peppers. I'm thawing a lb of ground beef and have two lonely little peppers that need used. DH has been busy with Real Estate and hasn't been to check cattle this week, so not sure if he'll be here this weekend or not. I'm a planner by nature and his crazy fly by the seat of your pants attitude drives me crazy sometime!
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

cadoodlebug ......such beautiful photos!!! I went to my favorite lake last night and watched the sunset, and it was sooo good for my soul! DH took me to another lake on Sunday, and I loved that, too. He's not as much of a water lover as me, so I went alone last night. I DESPERATELY needed to get out of the house after my Dad driving us BOTH crazy, annnnd, a big argument with DH. Fun times...not! Well, Meaty's a bit sad because Daddy had to go into the office for the afternoon. He's worked at home full-time since March, so Meaty is used to being with him (almost) 24/7 !!! He's going to surprise us with takeout for din-din. jeremysgirl .....Awww, I hope your sweet granddog will be okay! scrapmaven ......I hope your "shenanigans" will stop IMMEDIATELY! Nurse Meaty is very concerned about you! christine58 ...(( hugs )). Enjoy every bite of your ice cream! I hate those days when we're on the verge of tears---I've had a lot of those days lately, too.

Hugs, christine58. Hope your day improves. I've got to grocery shop so we can have food for dinner. I'm thinking steaks and rice pilaf, green salad, and maybe some roasted cauliflower.

I'm a planner by nature and his crazy fly by the seat of your pants attitude drives me crazy sometime! Neither of us are planners. Both of us are flying by the seat of our pants most days. And that isn't good for us either. I often think planners must have far less anxiety. Because like with my BBQ tomorrow, I could have planned. I could have cleaned my house a little bit all week. But I left everything for the end and I will be having to move in fast forward for the next 24 hours in order to host. A little bit of planning would have saved me some stress.

My best friend and I used to visit the MANY scrapbook stores back in the day, too. What fun memories! Shop, and then go and scrapbook at one of our houses until the wee hours! It's so cool that you even HAVE a scrapbook store to go to (or do you have more than one?) Back in the early 2000's, we probably had about 10 awesome stores---we MIGHT have one now, but that one has probably closed, too.

scrapmaven it’s so sweet how attentive you and DH are to your MIL. christine58 sending you hugs and better mood vibes. I was in that place for about a week. It was hard but finally dragged myself out of it. cadoodlebug gorgeous sunset pics! jeremysgirl congrats to your son again on his license, apartment and his newfound independence! austnscrapaddict I’m a planner too so I feel ya on that. Even now while laid off in the middle of a pandemic I still use my planner every day. 😂 Tonight is carry out from somewhere. I’m thinking Greek right now. Okay and here is my mantle. It’s a solid piece of 5 ft by 1ft cedar. It kind of blends in with the stone. But I have plans to paint the stone white or put shiplap over it. It’s so dark, makes that side of the living room feel cavey. I can’t wait to start decorating it!!

I love him to the ends of the earth. But wish he could see a week ahead like I do. I'm open to changes, but like having a master plan. I know your BBQ will turn out perfect! And remember, no one will notice the little things that you will.

PolarGreen12, your mantle is gorgeous. And I love the stone! Thanks. 😊 The stone is nice,It’s just not me. This is actually a double sided fireplace. The other side is in the den and it’s even larger if you can believe it. That side does kind of have a mantle out of the stone itself because it just put into the room more.

My CSA box had new red potatoes, carrots, broccoli, small head of savoy cabbage, mushrooms, ears of corn, and purple kohlrabi.
I'm going to make stew tomorrow with dill bread because I also bought fresh dill and want to make dill bread.
But anyone have any good ideas for kohlrabi? I haven't found a recipe that makes me like it...

Hi my dad is going out for lunch with GF and it’s me to plan dinner. I have no idea what to make.
I talk to everyone in Japan yesterday for Obon. My sister and I texted for hours. We have a lot in common now. I talked to the ex. Now I know why we got married. We talked about everything and it was nice. I asked him if I sounded like a white woman on the phone and he said not at all. He said my Japanese is excellent. I do work at it online and he said he could tell. Things are good with us.
I hope the people who are struggling find brightness in the grey. All the peas know I have been there. Much love to the Dinner Tribe.

jeremysgirl, I like the idea of buying the sides for your bbq. Don't stress over it. Make it easy. Those sides are sold for a reason. PolarGreen12, your house has a log cabin house vibe. I would be very at home there.

I swear, the antii-pasta salad gods are out to get me! Again, we didn't have it last night. The family opted for Japanese carry out and we caved. So, tonight, absolutely, no doubt about it,I don't care what, if anything, ddil is making... DH and I are having tuna/macaroni salad, coleslaw, hard-boiled egg wedges, and cheese cubes! And crackers!

Hi Everyone! scrapmaven I hope that your appointment went well! jeremysgirl I know how proud you are of your son! I hope that your grand puppy is okay. PolarGreen12 Love your new mantle! cadoodlebug Those are gorgeous pictures! christine58 I am so sorry. I understand how you feel. Ice cream or chocolate always help me. I took out ground beef for dinner. I am trying to figure out what to make with it. It may be burritos or with vegetables and rice with some teriyaki and seasonings.

Okay and here is my mantle. But anyone have any good ideas for kohlrabi? I haven't found a recipe that makes me like it... Kohlrabi was a new to me vegetable that we tried for the first time a couple months ago. I've made this recipe a few times because we really liked it (switching to Balsamic vinegar). Kohlrabi, Beet & Apple SaladI'm not sure what's for dinner. I was thinking of gyros and a Greek salad but don't have tzatziki (or yogurt and dill to make it) and have really tried to avoid going to the store for just one or two things. But I do have a couple errands to run, so will be out anyway. Decisions, decisions. DD and I finished the Santorini sunset puzzle today.

Good afternoon dinner tribe? Been another lazy day here. I need to get my butt in gear and be constructive. I think I usually stay fairly busy with various things such as taxes, doing books for nephew, helping mom, but I've had a slow week and it is weird feeling.
We are being extra lazy and doing Chinese take out for dinner.
scrapmaven The "junk" foods you take to your MIL sound yummy. I was not aware of Molasses Chips from See's. I love the taste of molasses and we have a See's here in my city. Hmmmm... I have a birthday next month and always have a hard time thinking what to tell son and grandson what I want. This just might be a great idea. My mom is almost 90 and she does eat too much junk food. She had given me a grocery list not long ago and after looking at it, I asked her where the food was. But, at that age, it is hard to tell them no you won't buy it for them. I try to get healthier versions of some of her junk like if she asks for cookies, instead of getting a cream filled cookie, I will get her oatmeal cookies. Hope your appointment goes well.
christine58 Sorry you are having a rough day. May the those sad feelings not linger! My dad as been gone 14 yeas and I still get tearing eyed from missing him.
cadoodlebug My sister had posted a stunning sunrise this morning and we were discussing that the views are fantastic, but many times its a sad reason we get those beautiful pictures. We have several fires in and around our state and I see California does as well.
PolarGreen12 That mantle looks great. You will have to show up pictures each time you change out the decorations. lol But, please don't paint those rocks white! I would say maybe change the wall color to something lighter. It would be okay to paint the shelving a different color, just not bright white. That would probably light that end of the room quite a bit.
Hope everyone has a super evening and an even better weekend!

Pizza and salad. Strawberry lemonade iced tea too.
I'm back to where the days are blurring together again. I think I want to get up and go for a drive before it gets hot tomorrow morning. Maybe check out a farm stand that has some fresh stuff in from the field. Or just sightsee on the back roads.
Highs of 100-102 are expected over the weekend. So I'm going to be inside most of the time. It's miserable hot even in the shade.
Maybe get out late tonight and drive into the national forest onto a forestry service road to find a darker sky spot to see if we can see any of the last remnants of the meteor shower. To get to true dark skies we would have to drive like 6 hours. But we have some decent night sky watching spots within an hour of our new place, out in the forest.

But, like you said, we paid a big price for them

I ordered a new bra in the wrong size and it hurt. I was mad at myself and ordered 2 more of the next size up. The Ángels have spoken. I wore this all day and can keep going this evening. I wanted a purse not 2 bras! But I am happy I did it! I hate undergarments. But I do look good!

DD decided on home made pizzas for dinner, so at 5pm I put a batch of pizza dough in the bread maker. I don't know what happened, but after 1.5 hours of kneading and rising and kneading and rising, the dough was dried out and awful. That's never happened before. So I had to race up to the local (expensive) shops and spend $9 on pizza bases. I'd had such a busy shitty day at work, then the dough failure and having to race to the shops, I turned into a petulant child and couldn't be bothered eating. A few hours later I had the rest of DS's cold pizza.
