Part of the reason Trump won the 2016 nomination in the first place was because all the rest of the candidates were so taken aback by his gutter behavior and didn’t really know how fight back ... or have any experience in or desire for really getting down to his level. Sometimes going low instead of high is what is needed. Some situations are just that dire. He wins when everyone else sits there speechless because they can’t believe what he just said. And FYI, sarcastic references to the “tolerant left” are not all that nice, either. Maybe you would like to spend a little time examining your understanding of what tolerance really means. I think you just proved what I said. All the talk of bringing the nation together, healing, is it just talk or do we really mean it? We can’t use Trump’s bad behavior as an excuse to “go low” and still come together. Are we only tolerant of what we agree with or do we really want to have a peaceful nation? We should be able to disagree without being disagreeable, but that doesn’t happen much anymore. That’s my understanding of tolerance. I don’t think “the left’s tolerance” has anything to do with turning the other cheek to Trump’s insults and mockery. It has to do with letting people live their lives their own way rather than demanding conformity, as the right sometimes seem to do. And yes, I know the left doesn’t always live up to its ideals, either. We will never have a peaceful nation if we’re expected to sit quietly while Trump and his people fling mockery and insults with no repercussions.

I’ve thought about this a lot since posting earlier. I’ve read everyone’s thoughts and I get it. Let me say, like I have countless times before, I despise this president with everything in me. I despise everything that comes out of his mouth. My blood pressure rises when I even read things he’s said. He has done so much that I find utterly unthinkable and all of it is damage In one way or another. His words and behavior are utterly indefensible and I cannot understand anyone who will not stand up and be counted as speaking out against him, ESPECIALLY my Christian brothers and sisters. And I don’t mean “yes, he says some things that aren’t nice and has changed his story some”. I mean a full out rebuke of him.
But I truly think if you hate it when he does it, you should hate it when others do it. No qualifiers. I don’t think it does us any good to dish it back. Ever. I don’t see any way around that. No matter how sick and tired we are. It’s a lie that we have to do it too or we’re just being walked on.
To me.

But she wasn't dishing it back...she was using his own words to show how disgusting he is.
