tc had an awesome idea to follow up the minimalism/decluttering August thread with a no -spend September. if you're interested in joining us, post your plan here and come back and brag about the things you didn't buy. Feel free to list your personal exceptions - sometimes there are already planned purchases or a birthday/anniversary where not-spending doesn't really work out.

I'm game for a no-spend September. Groceries don't count and nor does anything needed for virtual schooling (although I think/hope we're all set there already - Week one I already bought a calculator and a book report book). I'm also going to continue with my regular photo orders.
I'm trying to avoid shopping on Amazon, picking up extras with the groceries, and stay away from scrappy purchases and other extras.

I can partially commit. Later in the month I'll have to pick up the order I placed with my LSS last week, but while I'm there I'll do my best to avoid getting any extras. I'll look at the pretty things and be content to just put them on my wish list.
I might have to place a small photo order too, but photos don't count.

This really appeals to me. I would like to freeze my scrappy spending for the month. Even with lots of scrapping I don't think I will need anything at all. I'm stocked up on adhesives, cardstock, albums, and page protectors and I certainly don't need to buy any other fun supplies.
We've been planning on buying furniture this month so I can't commit to a total no spend September, but other than that I will try to stop buying things to keep myself entertained.

Oh, I only meant crafty stuff too. We need to replace our oil tank, and we'll probably need to get a new vehicle too. ugh.

I can try to do a no spend Sept, except the one order I have sitting at the LSS. I haven't picked that up yet.
ETA: I have a couple subscriptions that automatically come, so those will happen too, but they are small things.

I need a no-spend month, but I doubt I’ll make it past the first Labor Day sale I see.

I don't feel like I overspend, but I do need to use up, throw away, or donate a bunch of stuff related and not related to scrapbooking.
I'm going to stick to no spending on scrapbooking products. Tiny little purchases are one of the few things bringing me joy right now. I have had zero alone time since March. It's nothing crazy. Occasional ordering from drive-thrus or picking up pizza.
I will need to purchase basic things like adhesive, blade refills, and order photos. They aren't fun purchases. I'm usually low on those. That's only going to be if I use up what I currently have.
The plan? Find alternatives that work instead of purchasing something new. I need to organize some more supplies. That will help in using up stash.

I’m doing a No-Spendtember in my Facebook group. Tonic Studios must have heard and wants to torture me. Nuvo Drops are on sale this month. Must resist the urge complete my collection!!! 😬
Page protectors and the Tonic Rustic Rose collection are the only two “cheats” I’ve stated beforehand. Rustic Rose has been pushed back to October so I might be safe. 🤞🏻

I’m in for scrappy supplies. I’m also doing shelftember which is a cooking challenge. The goal is to use your pantry and spent little on groceries. I’m going to try to pare down some of the items I had gathers since March in preparation for just refilling them all this fall 😀

I'm in on crafty stuff for sure. The only exception being the We Create virtual crop next weekend, I know I'll shop, but I also know I won't be going crazy. (I did that in August!)
I'm also in in general except for DGS bday, which his gifts are already bought. Otherwise no spending!

My rules for myself are only to spend money on regular household bills, prescriptions, groceries, gasoline, and charitable donations. I do have a subscription to a monthly craft subscription program and I decided not to skip this month so I'm keeping that. I'm also going to take part of this time to evaluate some of my other subscriptions and see if any of them need to go - streaming services, audible, Amazon subscriptions, etc. My goal really is to stop the flow of things coming in to the house. As much as I want to get rid of things, I need to also stop them at their source!
ETA: I almost stopped for mini doughnuts on the way in this morning -- until I remembered what day it was. :-)

My husband works a couple of evening per week and we usually get take out once a week too. So those HF meals were pretty much feeding us dinner all week with the leftovers. My freezer and pantry are full and I just cancelled for next week so I can start using some of these items. Need to cancel once a month, I think.

I'd like to try. I have to quit my Amazon habit. I am going to try not to buy any scrapbooking supplies and nothing on Amazon. Luckily I just went and shopped Hobby Lobby's clearance last night

It's Stamptember at SSS so it's highly unlikely I will be crafty-frozen this month!

Luckily I just went and shopped Hobby Lobby's clearance last night My credit card points go straight to Amazon. Before Covid hit, I had over $900 in points. Now I think I am down to $300 or so. Shimelle Field Trip paper? Sure. Creative Memories camera punch? Absolutely. I also used them for dog food, so I didn't go completely wild.

I logged on to my Amazon account today and eliminated about 1/3 of my Subscribe and Save regular shipments. I was leaving a lot of them on there from month to month because it was a good price or because I hadn't used up my last of my previous shipment and didn't want to lose track of them. But when I really looked at them, they were things that I either skipped every single time they came up, or things I stopped using because I like something else better, or things I could just plain do without. Feels good to get that streamlined and not potentially be charged for something I might miss the skip deadline. I also cancelled a channel subscription through Amazon Prime that we never watch.
I'll wait til mid-month to tackle some of the other items (subscription boxes, streaming services, etc.). Don't want to do too much on day 1 and make myself miserable!

If you sock your Nuvos away, and don't play with them until after they've been gifted to you, it should be fine. I mean, they're on sale. It's just being thrifty. And that's what it's all about, right?

Well today I placed an order at target. I didn’t need $25 of it but it’s fancy shoes and a Xmas present for my daughter. I’m a fail at this game already.

Ok...yes. No scrapbook supplies in September, UNLESS I find some old CM pages for sale. Then I will buy those. But no actual product.

I’m a fail at this game already. not a failure - there are thirty days in September and tomorrow is a new day. I figure even if I do end up buying some things, I'll be more conscious and deliberate about it and ultimately less will come home and more of what does come home will be actually used - at least that's my hope

I saw the SG free kit and was halfway to my laptop to fill my cart before I remembered that I'm frozen. I will have a wrestling with myself not to shop tomorrow.

As of today, I will not make any scrapbooking purchases, no matter how tempting... minus anything I cannot live without via Peachy Cheap I just received an unexpected car repair bill... there are no words That car repair bill has taken up my monthly budget for everything. It's gonna be a looooonnng month

It's Stamptember at SSS so it's highly unlikely I will be crafty-frozen this month! Yes that email this morning was torture. I got off their mailing list (I actually had gmail archive all my marketing emails for one company automatically so if I think to shop there I can find the codes but I don't get tempted!) I saw some posts on IG though. So far nothing that caught my eye, and I'm going to try to be very choosy. ANd if I miss out on some good stuff, I'm OK with that. There's always more.
