Welcome welcome to the September/Sketember challenges angel97701 , KikiPea , CoffeeCrafter , AussieMeg , schroema , Ryann, justjac , psiluvu , desertgirl , Ren , kellyr21 , @bdhardy , Linda , scrappintoee , wendy crowe!! Lots of new people which is awesome! Love it and I hope you enjoy it, have fun and get crafty! If you have questions, please ask! Is anyone going to try to complete all of the sketches this month? It's like our own LOAD event lol. Or will you be doing your usual scrapping? I'm going to do as many as possible and hopefully continue until I have them all done (we are talking MONTHS from now when I will finish lol) I'm a slow scrapper. And apparently I'm am a tropical storm as well - tropical storm Nana - that's me! Are you a slow scrapper, prolific, or in between? If you are a quick scrapper do you have any secrets, cause I need all the help I can get! lol. I hope everyone has a fun month!

Hello and welcome to all the new faces! joyfulnana - thanks for leading us this month. I am going to try and do all the sketches. #1 is done and I'm working on #2 at the moment. I'm pretty sure I fall under prolific scrapper, lol - at least when I'm motivated - I didn't manage to scrap at all last month, just organising points and a few cards at the end. Secrets....I usually start with a sketch but don't stress about following it exactly (I'm an 8.5x11 scrapper and many sketches are 12x12 so...). Beyond that? I tend to be simple and linear and cardstock heavy vs PP heavy with limited embellishments. I like to focus on the photos and journalling (although I don't always journal) and I'm not really an artsy, creative sort so don't usually do all the time consuming mixed media etc...

Woo hoo! I'm looking forward to another fun month of the team challenge. I'm not a scrapper, so I'll be sitting out the sketches and just keep making my cards. I'll be all over CARDtober next month though. 😂

Thank you for the warm welcome joyfulnana. I am hoping to do them all but we shall see I have the first two in progress so, so far so good. I think I am an in between scrapper, once I get going. I can go in spurts, four pages one day then fiddle around with one page for three days. I may have questions about the points but am going to re read some posts first.

Linda I almost made mention in the OP that you and justjac are definitely prolific! There will be at least two 8.5x11 sketches posted this month. CoffeeCrafter I thought of you the other day when Cardtober was mentioned. I love seeing all the cards and it makes me think of dipping my toes in, but then I go back to my 12x12 LO comfort zone lol. psiluvu good luck taking on all the sketches. I don't think I've ever finished four LO's in a weekend, and I sometimes have the same page in progress for a couple weeks. I definitely need to make decisions quicker lol.

CoffeeCrafter I thought of you the other day when Cardtober was mentioned. Well, you'll definitely be seeing plenty of me during CARDtober. I've agreed to be one of the new hosts this year. 😉 I hope that's not a secret or something, but if it is, I've spilled the beans now. 🤣

I've agreed to be one of the new hosts this year. That's awesome -thanks for stepping up. I'm a very simple card maker but I've enjoyed Cardtober even when the challenges have been way outside my skillset

I am really excited to see so many new team members, especially those who have ventured over from our dinner tribe!
There is no way I am going to commit to doing all the sketches. I usually start off strong but then get left behind. Plus I have to do my other monthly challenges at The Lilypad, which takes up a lot of time. I am hoping to use the sketches for those challenges as well, kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

Hi thanks for the welcome! Look to be honest, I’ll be happy if I knock off my December daily this month.. anything else is a bonus. I also have gaps in several project life albums to fill. I’m mainly a pocket scrapper.

I fully intend to complete all the sketches! I don't typically work with sketches and I'm already finding it to be difficult to translate to a layout, but I will keep at it! I scrap often, but I'm slow. I can easily take 1+ days to complete one layout. I used to only make cards a few years ago and even then I took a long time to make one card. Slow is how I roll.

joyfulnana I think I am an in between scrapper. If the mojo is really flowing I can get a layout or two done in a day, sometimes there are duplicates when one is for each boys book. I do like to have a "finished" layout with photos, title, journaling, cs, pp, embellishments, and on occasion stamping or mixed media in the mix. I tend to start with a sketch of sorts. But I am not into single page layouts so much, as I tend to want more than one photo on a page. I prefer double page 12" x 12" layouts. Plenty of room to tell the story.
Finish all the sketches, nope not even gonna try, but be inspired and try a few, yep I will go there.
For those who don't know me, the past few months have been super challenging as an adoptive mom to two boys (bio brothers siblings 1 and 4, the other 2 did not survive the birth home) from Russia. They are now 14 and 21, and home almost 11 years. Both were in treatment this spring/summer. DS14 is home now from Wilderness Therapy and is a daily challenge to manage, and we have an IEP battle ahead of us with the district. DS14 was diagnosed as being on the FAS spectrum, not a surprise, but helpful as we try new parenting and communication techniques. DS21 is still in his treatment program. Because of the stress etc. my creative mojo just flew away during April-August. Hoping it re-emerges for Sketchember! I've also found great solace in Bible Journaling, but usually keep that artwork private.
It is great to see many new names playing along this month. It's fun, and a great way to learn new things.

I almost always adapt the sketches because I scrap 8.5x11 and they are usually 12x12.

joyfulnana- So, I see all the challenges. Are those what we are to create or make our own ideas? When I post my pictures, do I post them here or where? Also, how does the points thing work? If I post for here and Pokey Peas, is that points for the project and not how many places you post them?

joyfulnana I am going to try to do as many of the sketches as I can- I love sketches! I did great the first half of August, but then fell behind. I’m a preschool aide and we started back a couple weeks ago and I’m just struggling at the end of the day to not just chill on the couch!

If I post for here and Pokey Peas, is that points for the project and not how many places you post them? You can either look at the challenges and use them to inspire you OR you can create as you usually do and go back and see what challenges you met. OR you can just create, pick up the easy peasy points, and not worry about the challenges at all. There's a September Sharing and Commenting thread - you can post your pictures there. If you did a sketchtember sketch - you can post it in that thread (you can but don't have to also post it on the September Sharing and Commenting thread). 1 point for sharing per project regardless of how many places you share. Pokey peas - I think you get points for posting 4 layouts in their thread during the month. These are separate (additional) points above and beyond the regualr sharing points but you can only earn once in a month. Don't stress about points - we'll help you figure them if you need help and the goal is to have fun and create - points are just icing for the competitive among us

kellyr21 Linda summed it up perfectly! Ryann you sound just like me. Usually at least a day or more to complete a LO. Although doing the virtual crops has helped with that. angel97701 I hope things smooth out for you soon and the boys will be thriving. I can totally understand why your mojo flew away. I never thought I would be a one page scrapper, but as my kids have gotten older and I take fewer photos, I've naturally gravitated to it. Hopefully there will be road trips next year so that I have enough photos for 2 page spreads again. schroema I totally relate and am the same way. My job is so much mental stress that it's hard not to just veg in front of the TV afterward, I've been trying to get myself into a rhythm of doing something - anything! once I'm off work lol. Linda you do a good job of making all the sketches work for you, no matter what size. I couldn't ever translate a 12x12 sketch to 8.5x11 so I just switched sizes. But I'm still drawn to 8.5x11 sketches and LOs Ren I still have my JYC to finish from 2018! I will probably focus on the sketches this month, then next month start looking at all the unfinished projects I have going. I've got laundry and shopping to do before I can scrap today. But I'll be opening a virtual crop at 3 CST today if anyone wants to join in.

Thanks joyfulnanaJust finished the weekly housecleaning. Next up is grocery shopping and then hopefully some time at the computer. DH picked up photos for me last night for my first 4 list layouts so I added them this morning - still need to take pics to share.

I am definitely not doing all the sketches. I have done one so far and I do hope to do a few more. I’m also going a traveller’s notebook this month for 30 Days of Lists.

Considering today is already the 8th and I'm still working on the sketches I will posting, it's safe to say I'm not doing them all. Linda and justjac you are inspiring me to try 30 days of lists too. I have TN's I just never know how or where to start with them, so they sit empty. I'm hoping to use some of ComplicatedLady's sketches to give me a direction too. I have the virtual We Create crop this weekend, and I need to be planning some pages for that as well. I'm going to do my best to scrap the majority of those 3 days, but I need a plan lol. I hope everyone had a great weekend and that US peas enjoyed the long weekend and have an awesome short work week!

How's everyone doing? I can't believe it's the weekend again already! (but yay!)
I'm gearing up for the We Create virtual crop. Nothing but scrapping for 3 days as if I were there in person is the plan. I'm planning pages with the Sketchember sketches, so I hope to get quite a few of those done. The weather is rainy, cool and overcast here so perfect for staying inside.
I'm going to try to keep shopping to a minimum, but man I have a hard time passing up sales lol.
Anyone have fun plans for the weekend? Or are you like me, and still mostly staying home anyway?

Hi! I'm so happy I joined, and I can't WAIT to start! To answer your questions, I doubt I will do all of the sketches. I vary in how slow or fast I scrap. I sometimes spend wayyyyy too much time choosing papers. There are just so many, and it's fun to consider all the different colors/ patterns, etc.

HI Ladies!!! I'm still navigating all the different threads. I clicked on this one today and found out this is where I"m supposed to be! LOL!
I'm a huge sketch fan, so I'm glad I came here this month. I try to do stick to LOAD, but sometimes my son's baseball games get in the way. I consider myself a fast scrapper - usually can knock out a page in an hour or so.
I have been using the spreadsheet to keep track of the points per layout. I am up to 616 points....could that be right??? I don't know what a "normal" point count is....
I have nothing going on tonight and most of Sunday, so I will be a happy scrapper this weekend!

There's no such thing as a normal point count but you've posted lots of layouts so far so 600+ doesn't seem unlikely to me

so how is everyone doing so far?
I'm behind on the sketches but caught up on my lists (I think). I finished DD20's college album and I've printed photos from DS28's Hawaii detachment (temporary duty). I probably should catch up some other projects before tackling them though....
I also need to make a batch of cards for my weekly letters - I think I'll do one of the Sheetloads for that

I've been working on catching up on the sketches. I knocked out a few yesterday. I'm not a big fan of 2 page layouts, but I am determined to take care of those today. I have my pics ready to go, just have to find the right papers. So far, there are 4 - 2 pagers. If I can finish them up today, i will be one happy scrapper! Oh, and I need to get a recent pic to update my profile...lol

wendy crowe -remember that just because a sketch is 2-pages, doesn't mean you can't use one or the other side of it for a one-page layout.
